I am from the South but I'm currently living in Wisconsin, and I have been looking for a place that serves fried catfish. I finally found it in Captain Porky's, and they did not disappoint! The staff is so nice, the place is very clean, and the menu is very large so if you can't find anything to eat you must not be hungry. This has now become one of my favorite places to go and eat!
Great food. Lot of choices.

This is my stop in the area for fish / sides. There are other options but this review is just for the fish dinners - tasty, as promised, great sides selection, fresh and cooked right. Lots of options for seafood. I had the smelt and lake perch and both were excellent. Recommended.

Got rib tips, brisket meal, crab stuffed jumbo gulf shrimp, calamari, and hush puppies. Two bbq sauce choices: spicy and mild. Both are watery and lack flavor. Rib tips had a decent flavor but were overcooked, dry, and hard to chew. Brisket meal came with coleslaw which I had no complaints about, dinner roll which was fine, and the brisket which was chewy and flavorless except for the watery bbq sauce. The crab stuffed shrimp were mostly breading and you could barely taste the shrimp or the crab. The calamari was decent and the cocktail sauce that came with was decent as well. I’ve never had hush puppies before so my opinion may be less useful of these but I thought they were pretty good. Service was nice and helpful, I went in expecting a traditional sit down, but that was my mistake, though for the price I would somewhat expect that traditional sit down experience. The dining area was clean. Perhaps the seafood may be better but with how the meats were cooked I kind of doubt it.

We absolutely love this place!! The food is always great, and they sell the biggest lobster tails in the state. I recently tried their cheesecake for the first time, and it was amazing! When we drive back and forth from Chicago, we stop in every time.

Mediocre food, environmental disaster, and sexist bathrooms. The rib tips were dry and chewy, the lobster po boy barely had any lobster in it, and the puller pork sandwich’s only flavor was from the modest amount of BBQ sauce. I have never been to a restaurant where ALL the food was served in plastic containers, regardless of whether you were eating in or getting to-go. There isn’t a single plate or piece of silverware in this “restaurant”. If you like eating microplastics, then the styrofoam containers here are your dream. There isn’t even recycling for the glass beer bottles. Maybe when this place originally opened no one cared about the environment, but how a single restaurant can give such a giant middle finger to the environment in 2025 is mind boggling. Lastly, I was there with my 11 month old and needed to use to women’s bathroom in order to change my kid. Why isn’t there a changing table in the men’s room too? What, only women change babies? There’s also zero reason why the two individual bathrooms are labeled men’s and women’s. They should just be “bathroom” and “bathroom with changing table” at this point. I’m also pretty sure there’s a law stating such as well. Unless you’re a local with no other BBQ places around, there is zero reason to come here and definitely don’t go out of your way to eat here like we did.
