Good food and service. The cleanliness of this Cafe was 10 out of 10!

Food tasted old, not homemade, and canned. Chicken and dumplings were flat. Broth weak. The mashed potatoes were good, however the gravy was grainy and tasted old. The baked beans were tangy (in a bad way) and I found a strange tendon-type chunk in my beans. The sweet tea was not homemade and tasted off. Limited menu & breakfast available only til 10 a.m. The server was good. The atmosphere was great, as we enjoyed all the Elvis and other early Rock paraphernalia. The seats were too close to other tables, the seats themselves were very uncomfortable. We didn't try dessert, there were flies in the pie display. Normally we love to back local establishments, perhaps we visited on an off day.. But I think that if I buy a can of soup, and it's better than a restaurant, something is awry.

I'm from out of town and was just stopping to have breakfast with the family. The server was quick and friendly. The food was very tasty and the prices were right on point. Although I was there for breakfast I did take time to eat a piece of peanutbutter pie. I must say I like pie and this pie was real good! So if you local or just passing through make sure to stop and enjoy the food (especially the pie). It's worth the moment you use to enjoy the food.

Well I, and five of the best people I know, marched in like a cloud of hungry locust eyeballing a farmer's field in Kansas! I had heard about this top-notch diner and their fantastic pie, so I brought along the "Pie-ranna" (my brother) who could vacum a pie down to its crust in two seconds flat (if it was good). Well, lets just say that pie didn't have a chance! Now, the atmosphere of this down home place is perfect "Americanna," and the waitress was sassy and sharp! Most of us ate breakfast which came out delicious, on point, and let's just say, it was making a real argument to be the most important meal of the day ... for us anyway!! Overall, this place is a real find for this yankee!!!

I has the chicken and dumplings. My friend Kathy had a patty melt with onion rings. I also had THE BEST freshly-brewed iced tea ever!! Kathy had an excellent cup of coffee as well. It was about 10:45 am on a Saturday. They weren't very busy. We seated ourselves & were greeted as we walked in the door. Waitress was quick to get us the menus & take our drink orders. Our food was served hot & fresh. Both entrees were absolutely delicious! First time dining here for both of us. The Redbird Diner is part of what makes me proud of my hometown of West Frankfort IL! Mom & Pop diner that actually cares about friendly, cheerful, polite service & awesome food. We will definitely be back. Glad to know that what all my friends say about The Redbird is really true! Great service; delicious food & #FCHS PROUD!!

I came at a slow time. But my biscuit and gravy with 2 eggs were great and hot. The tea was good, and I had half&half . The server was nice Very clean, friendly atmosphere. It's worth a stop, people. The price was good too.
There seems to be poor consistency between cooks. One visit the food is awesome but another visit it's only just OK. Service is always great
