Delfin Bar & Grill Mexican Seafood

First off…3 stars for ambience.? 4 stars for food…5 stars for service! This place has great food and a great neighborhood location but it never seems to be busy on week days. Maybe it’s the bright ohare runway lighting or the loud music. A few small changes here could make this a little more enjoyable. We loved the food and hope they make it! Oh, they don’t serve wine ?? Enjoyed the fish ceviche ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And the whole red snapper was quite a presentation ? it is definitely a shareable entree?the “to go” box was a giant aluminum baking dish?

The staff was very nice but the food was terrible and wildly overpriced. Of the five of us that went only my son liked his food, which was fried shrimp, even though it didn't look great. The fajitas, rice and beans were incredibly bland and the meat was low quality. The worst part was the shrimp and oyster cocktail. I have ordered this in dozens of restaurants in my life and this is the first time ever that I found it completely inedible. The shrimp weren't terrible but the oysters tasted old. And the most offensive part was instead of Mexican style cocktail sauce it was literally Bloody Mary mix. Made the shrimp that would have been good taste terrible. On top of all that there was old, chewed gum on the salsa caddie we were given and there was no apology for that when we pointed it out. So sad because this place is so close to home and we were really hoping to make it a regular dinner place for our family.

12:10 pm, & we two were the only ones in the place... That should have told us something... Place is set up more like a sports bar, but with an Expensive Dinner Restaurant type menu (primarily written in Hispanic)... Prices range from $10 Lunch thru $40 Dinners. ..Don't think they know what there trying to be... Bar vs. Restaurant ? Lunch Steak Burrito was just barely OK . Steak meat was grisly, & over cooked / Dry, like it had been cooked & re-heated... Came with rice & beans / nice presentation... Bartender was very pleasant & attentive..Sorry, but we will not be going back .....

I came in a little later than my party did so I was only able to try the drinks. Everyone in my party raved about the food. The drinks were good and our waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was amazing! We danced the night away with all the bandas they had playing.

What a hidden gem - stoped by for some quick "Mexican" lunch - and wow was I treated well. Amazing staff - very attentive and friendly, outstanding, delicious, fresh food. I end up ordering chicken and steak tacos- both excellent choices - keep in mind this place is a seafood bar & grill yet their taco meat so well seasoned and tender. Highly recommend it !!!! Will definitely come back to try their seafood options. Ps. They had Mexican music on - so nice.

Me being a picky person ? will tell you that I do love this place and I recommend it ?. First and last time here, very disappointed with the way they run their business at this establishment. Do yourself a favor, stay away and save your money. This place has some of the worst customer service in the restaurant industry. We had an issue with their dish "camarones with ranchero sauce," the ranchero sauce is super sweet diluted ketchup and it tastes terrible, none of us liked it. We told our waitress from the beginning that we didn't like it or wanted the dish. She took it back to the kitchen, but never took it off our check, no options to exchange it for something else, no discount and no apology. If you ask for tortillas they charge you an extra $3.00 for tortillas soaked in old rancid oil. The owner-manager was there, but chose to totally ignore us, and never came around to talk to us. We should not have ignored the signs, an empty place and it still took very long to see our waitress and order our food. She also was not knowledgeable with the menu and food items. The food is way over priced and is not good. I'm sorry but I will not be coming back.10/24/2021Update response to Freddie's respond to my review. Freddie if that's really your name, look at the way you spelled the name of your own business, you spelled it "Defin Bar and Grill" instead of "Delfin Bar And Grill". Haahaa, you can't even get that right. Now I know why everything is so wrong in this establishment.Please tell the truth, you never gave us any discount as means to rectify the matter, it was a money mailer coupon that we had and chose to use to compansate ourselves.The meal was barely touched, look at the picture in the review that's in the same condition your kitchen sent it out, you were there because the Village had a sticker for you and the staff didn't have $50.00 to pay for it. Why didn't come to our table and apologize for the subpar service and way below average food quality. You had the opportunity to resolve this and you chose not to do anything. Don't pretend like you really care about your clientele when in reality you don't give a damn. I wish you good luck with your business but even if you offer me a free meal I will not return to your establishment. It's not worth my time and effort you had several opportunities to resolve the issue and you chose not to do it, so no thanks and good luck to you. JC

Delfin has some of the best Mexican seafood around period.The service here from the staff is really awesome as they always stay attentive even during busy hours.Freddie the owner is very charismatic and very easy to talk to. Always asking for opinions on the service and food as he wants to ensure a well rounded experience!I’m a regular here and I can tell you this place is definitely a must stop in for anyone!Family friendly!

This place has amazing food and does live bands.

Some of the best steak tacos I've had. Unique salsa options with the chips. Great atmosphere! The live band (The Belvideres) Saturday night was jamming!

Took a drive out of the city and decided to stop into this place. It seemed to be a slow night with few other patrons sitting at the bar. We were greeted at the door and quickly sat down. The server was friendly and attentive. She provided the complimentary chips and salsa. Be aware the habanero salsa is very spicy but has great flavor. My husband didn’t have high expectations for his dish but was pleasantly surprised. My daughter and I both ordered cheese enchiladas. They weren’t spicy but had great flavor.

We really love this place. The owner and staff are super gracious, and the food is incredible. There are menu items that I guarantee you've never tried before and are out of this world. Everything tastes fresh and there is a homemade sauce I'm addicted to. I recently tried one of the variations of the red snapper and I'm changed. My bf loves the siete mares soup and I'd have to agree, the broth is stellar. Kudos to bringing a fresh perspective to the area. We'll be back soon.
