Why did I wait soooo long to check out this amazing place??? It's about 2 minutes from our house and we drive past it every day. It's totally a hidden gem, for so many reasons. I have bartended for 137 years so I get disappointed quite often in service or should I say poor service and poor personality. Let me tell you that you don't have to worry about that here. We were warmly greeted by the red headed goddess of the bar, Melanie. She is a total sweetheart and made it so much fun for us in the short while we were there. There were some super nice regulars in there and some great conversation. Plus the cutest two little pups hanging out and you know you all love dogs especially in the bar!! Like that alone will get me to go somewhere to have the opportunity to pet a dog! We had a couple nice BIG shots of Jameson from the good kind of shot glasses not these rinky dink little things you get at most bars nowadays. The prices were excellent as well. But the best part is seriously how much fun you can have in this place. They have a wall of machines and scratch off tickets/lotto AND you can shop your heart out while you have some cocktails. Everything is so Unique, there were tons of Gags and prank items that I loved as a kid (bought my kids a whoopie cushion, fake vomit, and some other cool stuff). But there's lots of adult fun/toys there too. Like forget driving all the way to lovers lane they have it all right there. Mel even gave us some rattlesnake eggs as a present! We don't get to go out much anymore because we have kids but when we get another day out and about we will definitely head back to visit our new friends at the dam inn. PS this place is totally cool and I think it should be on anyone's radar who loves unique eclectic places cause I guarantee that you will fall in love the second you walk in.

From the retro trappings and regulars to the uber cheap and great drinks and of course fabulous host and barkeep Mel, Damm Inn is a true Chicagoland original,family owned and managed for 60+ years. You will be greeted by 2 adorable little yorkies ,lively conversation fills a welcoming place "where everybody knows your name" or will after your first visit,if you choose. Mel stocks some nice merchandise ranging from jewelry to gag gifts and memorabilia. JUST GO IN!
