The space is lovely the view of the golf course beautiful. The food and the service were extremely sub par . Quite a shame. Had we known we would have taken the shuttle to the building went in to look around and left . Hamburger was burnt…very burnt. Fries cold and greasy. There were 3 tables of people and 4 service people . No follow up after food delivered. This was on Sunday afternoon of Labor Day weekend. They should have been on top of their game. Buyer beware! It’s resort wide unfortunately. Drive in - look around - eat and sleep off campus would be my recommendation.

Slamming Sammies is about the only dressed down eatery at The Greenbrier, but don’t let that fool you. The food is awesome. My wife had brisket nachos and they were awesome. I had the wings, which were huge! And DON’T miss the fried vinegar potato chips. They’re a must do!

First time at Slammin Sammy’s. Ended up here because Sam Snead’s across the hall stops serving at 2:00 even though it’s literally the same kitchen, same wait staff and more or less the same menu aside from a few additions. Food was Decent but somewhat overpriced. Although the vinegar chips appetizer was good, 18 dollars for a handful of chips is ridiculous. Burger was good as was the turkey club and pepperoni pizza. Soft drink refills are free. Server was friendly but service overall was slow. After 2:00 despite leaving your name with the hostess, it turns into a first come first serve so it really doesn’t matter if you were waiting for some time. Once the 2:00 hour hit people started ambushing empty tables despite the fact we had been waiting and didn’t know this to be the policy. Overall it can be counted on for a consistent meal in a spacious environment . Pool and football tables are there for entertainment as well

We even showed the waitress how it was hard to cut with the knife. Waitress offered to bring another entree, but the salad was already half eaten. Everyone else enjoyed their lunches. Mushroom Soup got high marks. You will enjoy lunch if you skip the steak salad.

We ate lunch here several times, because it was convenient and not bad, not great. We loved the cream of mushroom soup. Pizza was excellent the first time, but the second time the crust was soggy. Burgers and sandwiches were okay. A little pricey, but everything at the Greenbrier overpriced, because they can. Be aware that they charge 20% gratuity on all meals. We almost paid 20% tip our first day, because we did not know.

The pizza is great if you like a sauce with a small bite. Salad is huge for lunch. Best thing to do is eat while overlooking the 18th green of the old white course, nice par 3 that has some challenges when windy outside.

We came with our two children and four grand children and everyone had an excellent meal and a good time. The pool tables, shuffleboard and fuss-ball made it a great family environment.

Please understand there are two restaurants located next to each other at the gold course. One is Sam Snead's, a little more upscale with a larger menu. Slammin Sammy's is the bar when you are finished playing golf. The food was fine, the service was fine, the wine was pretty good. But it is crazy expensive for what it is. It may be the cheapest, most casual food option at the resort, but expensive still.
