“Stayed at the Longbranch Lodge for 4 and a half days recently, and it was brilliant. The place is very spacious, very clean, and fully equipped to handle a family of 8-10 at least. The owners are such nice folks, and the bar they run steps away, was equally impressive. All the girls behind the bar were very kind and super nice. First night in on a Thursday, the Saloon had free pool, which kept me out until 2am, and the following Saturday the place had some Rockin live music.** Side Note **I left a couple tee shirts in one of the dressers, and without hesitation, they sent me my clothes swiftly. “I drove here from New Carlisle, IN, to, among other things, try Brunzeez fried mushrooms. I was intrigued by their mushrooms because they resemble the best fried mushrooms I have ever had at a Carbondale restaurant no longer in business. I am pleased to say they did not disappoint!!! These are a little bigger, a little more moist and not quite as seasoned as the others but they hit the spot! If the others were a 10, these are a solid 9.2. “In a very small town, this hidden gem lives, which is called the Stubborn Mule. Let me say first that the customer service there is beyond reproach! The bartenders are keen to make you any kind of drink that you wish, we watched them and tried several new shots they were trying to perfect. Their food is limited to typical burger type places, however... Their burgers and also their newly introduced Philly cheesesteak sandwich is nothing to be ignored! Tonight I had jalapeño burger and I added an extra slice of American cheese to the burger just because I know that somewhere in my DNA I have to be part mouse . My husband had the Philly cheesesteak... And oh my God the fries... Oh my God, the fries... They are fresh cut with skin on, and they are so delicious! I don't know where you're traveling from or traveling to, but if you happen to be in this particular area I highly recommend that you go to because the Stubborn Mule and their staff are so very friendly and so very welcoming and they will make you feel like family. This is a do not miss location on your trip marker if you're traveling across multiple states. My husband and I will definitely be back there again and I want to send a hard shout out to the owner who opened up his grill, a few hours before opening time, just to make my husband and myself a burger! That shows the customer service of this place has.”
