What happened here? Sal’s food is really good, except there’s less of it than there used to be. I ordered a couple of pizzas and several other items. They have reduced the size of some of the items and they are now seriously overpriced for what you get. For example, the pasta I ordered was maybe 1/2 the amount it used to be. Just not worth the price. I was a fan of Sals, but won’t be a customer if this is how they do business.

They force you to tip for take-out and mess up your order anyway. The pizza is fine.

Great pizza place. The pizza is really good. Chicken Parm sandwich is excellent. Plenty of room with all of the booths.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York and came to Chicago 50 years ago. I have been searching for New York pizza throughout the years. What most places call New York pizza does not pass the muster. After all these years I have finally discovered NY pizza at Pizza by Sal in Wilmette. Thank you!!!!!

Ah, where to start! You've gotta love this place. I came in here with my daughter (8 yr old, picky eater!) so many nights during the summer to just grab a slice of their delicious cheese pizza. It's so simple, so thin, yet so amazing! It's hard to find a good ol' classic slice these days, but man, this hits the spot. They've usually got pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom on display when I've gone- I regularly get pizza by the slice but I'm sure the full pie is great. It's clean, well organized, and in a good nook of our hometown Wilmette.

Didn't think anything could rival my favorite joint in Chicago when we moved to Evanston and I was definitely wrong. This is our new go to!

This is honestly the first good pizza I have found in the north suburbs (and I’ve been here for two decades now). Yum!

I was on a job and I got hungry and I really couldn’t go anywhere because the truck and trailer were loaded down and it would’ve been a hassle so I looked up pizza joints near me scroll down a bit and found Sals. I placed an order and I was told about 45 minutes which really the delivery driver had it there within 30 minutes of the time pizza order was placed. The pizza was pretty darn excellent -I had a spicy pepperoni ,only thing that kind of irritated me was that they don’t cut the pizza for you, so I just basically had to rip it apart but that’s minor inconvenience.

Love this pizza! We badly needed this on the north shore. All the specialty pizzas are delicious, as are the Italian entree items! YUM! Only wish were there were smaller sizes available!

Stopped in for a fast slice. Tried the sausage and it was excellent. Crispy and tasty. Will definitely try it again.

False advertising - the $75 "family" meal is actually $77, base price, not including tax and tip. They don't say what kind of family this will serve- except for the pizza, the portions are very small. It''s a nice idea, but bear in mind that this will actually run you over to $100 to feed about four, moderately hungry people. I would say the salad and pasta are good for 1-2 people, there are four small garlic knots, the tiramisu is also good for two people, and the pizza will serve four.

Ordered for delivery. Arrived on time.Enjoyed my pesto pizza - flavorful toppings (pesto, ricotta, and "oven roasted cherry tomatoes") with a crunchy crust that was chewy enough to finish. Would eat again. One 16" pizza can serve 2-3 people, depending on appetite. However, would not re-order the garlic knots. They are essentially dinner rolls baked in a loaf with some lightly garlic-y melted butter and parmesan poured on - not the twisty, doughy, intense garlic of a true garlic knot.Still, another solid member of downtown Wilmette's dining scene.

Sal's has hyped a "family meal" deal for awhile now, so when we needed a last minute dinner for four people, I placed an order. First of all, thre promotion says it's $75, but it's actually $77 before taxes and tip. You get a limited choice of pizza (sausage or cheese or pepperoni), a choice of salad (Caesar or chopped), and a choice of pasta, as well as garlic knots, tiramisu and a bottle of wine. They do not specify how many people this deal will serve, which is problem number two. I had assumed that it would be enough for four people, but except for the pizza, which is pretty big, the other portions only satisfactorily serve about two people. The salad was very small, as was the tiramisu serving. The pasta had two meatballs and we got exactly four small garlic knots. The wine choice was red or white table wine and it was ok. All in all, it's a nice idea but somewhat falsely advertised. There is much better pizza to be had at Napolita and elsewhere in the Chicago area. And if course, everything at any Ballyhoo restaurant is overpriced. The space itself is incredibly tiny and too small to accommodate everyone waiting. There was only one person behind the counter and she had to put everything together for my order, so it wasn't actually ready for me to just pick up. I doubt we will be back, even though we live within walking distance.
