I’m couldn’t love Small Cheval’s food more if I tried - and as a repeat-repeat-repeat customer (delivery) I’ve tried!
The cheeseburger is THE best in the business. Period.
The chicken tenders are sublime - moist / perfectly battered / and plentiful (this is rare these days).
What more can I say? I get the best of food comas when I order for lunch and I don’t care!
Bloody good food. Great service. Sensible pricing == Solid value for money and tastes great.

Nice convenient way to eat Cheval in the suburbs. Atmosphere is great, food was hot and quality. Order was accurate and employees were very accommodating

Awesome atmosphere. Burger was on point too. While I like the Au Cheval burger, the Small Cheval burger is just more manageable. Highly recommend.

Disappointing. Burgers were just ok. Nothing special to justify the high price. Fries very good. Carry out order took much longer than it should have given that the store was not busy.

How cool to order, sip a beer while you wait, then eat a fresh delicious hamburger.

I’ve had plenty of great meals at their Chicago spots, so I was looking forward to this new location. Carryout was a letdown—tiny chicken tenders and a burger that just didn’t taste right. Won’t be back. Maybe that’s for the best… my arteries thank me. 😆

Small Cheval Wilmette lives up to the hype! Ordered pickup just like at the city spots—food was piping hot, burgers juicy and perfectly seasoned, fries crisp. Fast, friendly service too. Easily one of the better burger in the North Shore! 5 stars! Small Cheval Wilmette lives up to the hype! Only wish I could have gotten a fried egg on my burger ☺️

Usually work in the city but was up in Wilmette for the week. Stumbled upon this new Small Cheval, stopped in for a burger and a shake. 10/10. Did the same thing the next day. 10/10

I arrived a little early for pickup and the food was not ready. That’s fine. It was ready a few minutes later. Drove home in 3 minutes and the food was cold. The taste was good but there were no measures taken to keep the food warm. Really nothing special here and nowhere to really eat if you don’t get it to go.

Definitely one of the best places when you’re craving a quality burger at a good price. I can’t give it a higher rating because Au Cheval (Small Cheval’s father) takes all the awards.

Very thin hamburger patty for the price you pay. The thick bread overwhelms the ratio. Toppings were fresh. The thinness of patty also made burger taste dry and not juicy. Shakes were great but pricey.

I wanted to give them a fair shake after seeing the rather middling reviews. The interior is nice, and not at all as small as other reviews had led me to believe, especially for a restaurant in a downtown spot.
I stopped by in the early afternoon, food was ready within 10 minutes.
I ordered the double cheeseburger, fries, a rootbeer, and an espresso shake. The meat had a hearty flavor and chew to it without feeling heavy or greasy. The bun was pillowy and a bit chewy. The fries were good and paired well with the aioli. I would say that the ratio of salt has been improved based on other reviews. Even though the fries are a bit on the paler side, that does not detract from their flavor and fluffiness. Rootbeer is Sprechers on tap, so no complaints there. The espresso shake wasn't super sweet and was creamy.

What a disappointment. There was nothing special about their hamburgers and none of the offerings from the original Au Chevalier down in the city. I was looking forward to bacon and egg on top of my sandwich. It was so expensive and each hamburger patty was not even a quarter pound for what? $8! Fries were nothing to speak of. The garlic aioli was as expected. They have soft serve ice cream, but didn’t want to try it as it was around $7. I recommend going to the Hot Ranch on Dempster and Skokie blvd. You get a double cheeseburger and fries for less than $8 and here you only get a single burger for $8. And it’s a lot juicier at the Ranch.
