This is a weird, musty place that smells like your grandma's attic and it looks like a mess with boxes everywhere. Nothing is organized properly or logically, it's dark and not contemporary or very clean. Their inventory is also pretty low and generally overpriced. The service is quirky at best. And their hours are absurd and eratic- 25 hours a week total?! I don't really understand the great reviews, honestly. It's too bad this is Wilmette's only wine shop. We can and should do much better.

I am new to the area. I stumbled upon this place during my few hours off duty on Mother’s Day. I was interested in a glass of wine. The door was unlocked, there were great reviews, I thought I hit the jackpot. I was asked what I would like. I responded a glass of wine. I was then told that the Bottle Shop was having a private tasting. If the store was not open to the public, why ask me what I wanted? I left because it was not my intention to interrupt their private tasting, but there no sign or other communication indicating that I should “move along.” This was an extremely baffling experience at a place that is so highly regarded. I’m left wondering if this is the weird gatekeeping/racism I should come to expect on the North Shore. Zero stars if I had the option.

Had my bridal shower here over the weekend and it was wonderful! It is a great space to hold a small event. The wine was delicious and the owner and woman pouring wine for us were so nice. Highly recommend!

Could not be more impressed with the Bottle Shop, specifically owner Amy. My colleague lives in Wilmette, and I stumbled on Amy's shop online when I was looking for some place that was able to send him birthday beers. Not only is she super friendly and helpful, but she was incredibly knowledgeable about beer. Amy is a rockstar, her beer selection is awesome and I hope to one day be able to enjoy one in her shop!
