Went for happy hour. Apps were a disappointment. Edamame was good, as was the Jimoto salad. Shrimp tempura was very good. Maki is where the ball dropped. All four selections were dry, feeling very much that they were holdovers from the previous evening. Truly a letdown. Not sure that I would hurry back.
Excellent dining experience - they were accommodating with our 1year old daughter as well!
We love going to Jimoto for Happy Hour! Drinks & several items are 1/2 price! The food is very fresh & delicious!
We treating people from out-of-town who said they'd come back to the Chicago area just for the fresh and delicious sushi at Jimoto.
Server did a good job and was friendly along with Sushi chefs. Fruit flies everywhere. Sushi was not fresh, had to return a dish. Bowls are made with hot and cold ingredients which is not cohesive or pleasurable to eat. Bathrooms are disgusting and neglected. Walked by kitchen and there is obvious build up of grease and grime on floors and base boards. Don't know how they are passing health inspections. Will not return.
Folks with celiac disease are often out of luck at Japanese restaurants, but Jimoto makes dining a total joy. Items are clearly marked with allergens, and tamari sauce is available in lieu of soy. Everything was very tasty, particularly the hamachi sashimi and the Chicago fire roll. Presentation is quietly elegant. Our new favorite north shore restaurant.
First time at restaurant and we loved it! Great food, wonderful service. Menu has options for those not interested in seafood. Would definitely return!
Would have liked more appetizer options. Food was good but our server was a little MIA at times.
Great sushi, and at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately they didn't seem to have enough waiters that night so we ended up having slow service. No fault to the waiters but otherwise very nice night
Fresh!!! Excellent sushi and sake flights. Service is good but a bit slow when the restaurant is very busy, and they seem to be always busy for obvious reasons.

I liked everything but the food. Four out of four things that I ordered were pretty terrible. I’m not kidding every bite was full of regret. It’s a great space. And the service was very good. But the food wasn’t worth eating. I’ve had better sushi at all You can eat places for $20. It is very sad because I’m local and was hoping that it would be a great spot for us to go to. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I’ll never go back.

A hidden gem! Jimoto Sushi delivers unique, flavorful twists on classic rolls. The seaweed salad + cream cheese combo was surprisingly great (8/10), the Hamachi was a standout (9.2/10), and the spicy tuna roll with wasabi aioli might be the best I’ve ever had (9.3/10!). The IPA was also a pleasant surprise—fruity, bold, and smooth (7.6/10). Not every roll was perfect, but overall this spot nails creativity and taste. 8.6/10 overall—highly recommended if you’re in Chicago.

This is our neighborhood sushi place. We go all the time (2x / month?). Very consistent. If you can get Sarah to help you, she is the best. Hoping they bring the dumplings back. Even without them, though, we keep coming back. Nice Willamette Valley Pinot options by the glass. Recommend.

Service was awful, food had no flavor!! Not sure what kind of rice they use, but it's different than any other sushi restaurant. Their sauces were all bland, fish might have been fresh, but no flavor at all!!
Beautiful space, friendly and attentive waitress, delicious sushi! We were celebrating a birthday with our family and everyone love the food and the experience. Thank you Jimoto! We will be back!
