“In town for business and George Trois came highly recommended (Thank you, Susan!). Perfect time of year as Chef Michael is showcasing a beautiful tasting menu featuring perigord truffles. Everything was absolutely delightful from the great service (Thanks, Abran!) to the fantastic wine pairings (Thank you, Brian!) My favorite dish was the Coquille St. Jacques “En Tuxedo” which was scallop and truffle encased in a butter pastry, swimming in a lavish champagne-caviar sauce. Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much and such a great honor to meet you and your team. George Trois is a MUST VISIT for any true gourmand.”

“Fondita Miguel is my new go to spot for local taco. It’s a small space so pickup is the way to go.

The corn tortillas are soft and fresh, the birria is rich and flavorful, and the pastor is done really well. My wife loves the chicken.

You also have to get the street corn. It is a must. Everything hits, prices are solid, and it is an easy spot to keep coming back to. Highly recommend.”

The mocktails are much appreciated with their inventive flavors and the entire environment is lovely and soothing. We had a party of seven and everyone went home happy except my giant Nebraska-raised meat-loving husband who was simply content. Well, you can’t please all the people all the time, but you sure as heck are pleasing this vegetarian who is so so tired of steak restaurant after steak restaurant where I’m desperately seeking the sides menu for something to nibble on. Now this review seems to have turned into an analysis of a modern marriage, but that’s OK because we all got to eat, right? And it’s so nice to find fellow meat avoiders on the North Shore. Keep up the great work, Spirit Elephant! We’ll be back for Mother’s Day.”

“We stopped today as a family for pizza before hitting up all the Home Alone sites. The pizza was incredibly delicious! The staff were friendly and the building itself was small and cozy. Fast service too! The neighborhood is delightful as well! Would absolutely stop again when in the area.”

“This is a beautiful place with authentic delicious Mexican food in a perfect location. The chilles rellenos that Í ordered were absolutely delicious along with my margarita made my day. My friend ordered the typical carne asada which was served with rice and beans and she was delighted. We are for sure coming back during the summer to enjoy more of these authentic Mexican dishes.”

“It is so refreshing to meet an owner who is actively present in his restaurant. Mark Salmon enthusiastically and creatively arranged for my friend and I to dine outside (our request), despite the rain. We stayed dry under umbrellas and thanks to Sandra, our amazing waitress, we celebrated my birthday with fine food (impressive menu choices and food presentation) and great company! It was my first time dining at 501 Local and this restaurant met and exceeded my high standards in every way! It is a hidden gem and our new fav restaurant. Highly recommend!!”

“What an awesome addition to the North Side! Beautiful place to have breakfast, delicious eggs with crème fraiche, chives, parmesan fluff, griddled country bread, we got our son the grilled cheese & I ate most of it. Great ambience, it has a very open feel. We would def come back, thank you 🙏”
