“During autumn days I always come back to this place for their Tortilla Soup. Although I normally hate anything sweet I ended up having a Passion Fruit Aguas Frescas that was not too cloying. I enjoy bringing my clients from Mexico here to make them feel more at “
“Our evening at Guanajuato last night was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The food was simply divine, with standout dishes like the flavorful salmon tacos leaving a lasting impression. My husband, Aunt, and I couldn't help but revel in the deliciousness of every bite. One highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the spicy margarita, expertly crafted and perfectly complementing the delectable guacamole. It was evident that each element of our meal had been thoughtfully curated to provide a memorable culinary journey. However, what truly elevated our experience was our exceptional server, Sergio. His friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm were contagious, turning a regular dinner into a delightful affair. Sergio's attentiveness and charm made us feel right at home, as if we were dining at the restaurant of a dear friend. The ambiance of Guanajuato further enhanced our evening, with cozy surroundings adorned with regional artwork that transported us to the heart of Mexico. The stunning wall adorned with Mexican "Milagros" Heart artwork added a touch of cultural richness to the atmosphere. We left Guanajuato with full hearts and satisfied palates, grateful to have such a gem in close proximity. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional, and we eagerly anticipate our next visit to savor more of the culinary delights and warm hospitality that define this charming Mexican restaurant.“
“The best birria I have ever eaten in my entire life. I've just been there for the first time and it's simply incredible. From the first place, I was involved in something difficult to explain, so many years passing and never having given them a chance or knowing the goodness of their food.“
“The margarita and Bloody Mary really good drinks, we also order a huitlacoche quesadilla, garnacha and queso panela. The taste of frijol molido with chips is like the one you can find in Oaxaca city. For sure we’ll back for the tlayudas, we just went for a drink to wait for a friend and end it tasting more that a drink.“
“I love this place! The food is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing and the art - you have to come by if for no other reason then to check out the original art! Top-notch… I’ve had a margarita here before as well and there are also great- I can hardly ever find a decent margarita. I highly recommend this place.“
“El Xangarrito is a gem. The presentation and flavors of every dish I've tried are some of the most creative Mexican food I have had. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff make you feel like you have been invited into their home. The prices are very reasonable for the level of food and service you receive. Their mole sauces leaves me craving more, and I am not usually a fan of mole. If you have not tried El Xangarrito, I highly recommend putting it at the top of your list.“
“The food was delicious, my husband loved the burritos and the slaw. Also, I don't know the name of the person who served us today. But there were quite a few people and he was alone, with one person in the kitchen, he still kindly served us all, thank you very much for that.“
“This is my second time eating here. The first time was dine in and the second time was take out. The waiter was really nice. I had the shrimp taco dinner and My friend had the Steak taco dinner. They tacos were fire. They were also a nice size, wasn’t stingy with the meat and reasonably priced. The rice and chips and salsa were also good. I would definitely recommend“
“This place is aces we had a great server Juan. He was amazing and funny. The host was very accommodating and helpful. We have some amazing margaritas and food was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone.“
“The owner was so welcoming, the staff were very kind and attentive, and the food was amazing. We were given samples of the oatmeal shakes, and I regretted not ordering one because they were sooooo good…but I had already eaten my meal. Will definitely be back when we are back in town!“
“Great food and amazing service! The quesabirria was fantastic and my 4 year old (who usually isn't impressed with too many restaurants) loved her steak quesadilla! the rice and beans had great flavor and of course the tacos were amazing. So glad we found this place. Will be coming back!“
“You want the best tacos you’ve ever had…in life. Go here. They are consistently good and I love how the food is always packaged well. The chicken baby is THEE best chicken taco I have ever had. I usually order steak tacos but the chicken baby converted me to a chicken taco lover! It is so well seasoned & tender. It’s just *chef’s kiss*“
“Came in again to try out their pizza special. I got the 2 slices and a drink last time, and it was too much for me. Just got a slice of sausage, and my usual soda can. Place is usually nice and clean. Everyone is friendly and acknowledges you when you walk in. It was cooked nicely and great crust. It wasn't too hard or soft, but just the right amount of crunch. The best part is that it's not really greasy like others. Big plus in my book. I definitely would come back if I'm in the area. Perks of working out in the field and trying new places.“
“Even though it was super busy bc of Valentines , service was spot on. Everybody was working so hard to accommodate every table. Food was delicious. We love the fact that it's family run. Everyone is so cordial and pleasant. We keep going back for more. We like sitting at the bar also, Jackie, the bartender is friendly and sweet And efficient. Give it a try!“
“Hands down the best Mexican food around!!! I think it's a hidden gem in Rogers Park!!! The service is delightful & food is absolutely delicious...they are byob as well and if you bring tequila, they give a margarita mix!!! Perfecto!!“
“Pastores is a great family run brunch spot in Lincoln Square. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful, food is solid and comes quick! I normally get the chorizo skillet, which has eggs, chorizo, corn, well seasoned potatoes and chipotle mayo. It is a delicious and relatively inexpensive option in the area. During warmer months they have outside seating as well! A great place with great people.“
“Just carried out from here and was very satisfied. Ordered two different bowls. One with Carne Asada was as flavorful as I've ever had. Also had the Chicken Adobo and that was exceptional as well. Way more variety and flavor than Chipotle with bowls, Tacos, Burritos, Elotes, Shrimp, seasonings etc. Only negative was service( only saw 3 employees)was a little slow putting the bowls together. Definitely coming back.“
“I came here the first time with my friends and their family. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! All of the food was delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa has the right amount a heat. I had the carne asada, and it was perfectly cooked. The margaritas aren't too sweet, which is perfect for me, because overly sweet drinks give me heartburn. I highly recommend supporting this family-owned business!“
“I've tried this place (had it delivered) 2x now and both times were great! Excellent portion size and packing. Salsas are creamy and not too hot but have just enough of a flavor and kick to them. I ordered burrito suizo dinner and I thought it was very flavorful. My husband had a plain burrito dinner and he said that the meat was tasty, but overall his burrito tasted a bit plain. I'd order from here again, though!“
“The service is ALWAYS warm and welcoming! I so appreciate that. The food is always good…have yet to be disappointed! And I LOVE that you serve alcohol for days that a person just might need a drink to relax! Frida’s is a reliable spot in Evanston for excellent service and great food! Please don’t change…please keep a great staff and great food!“
“My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out and it did not disappoint! We ordered taco dinners and they were delicious. Everything was freshly made and tasted great. Jose was very nice and made sure we were taken care of, great service! Overall, I will come back and bring more people to try this spot :)The location was not difficult to find, go on 3rd floor and make a left, then it’ll be on your right side. They accept quick pay & cash.“
“If you love birria this is your next stop. Their birria is authentic made with goat or lamb, which is your choice. It's offered in two ways. Either a two (fried) taco combination plate with rice and beans or their stewed meat served in a container with consomme, diced onions, cilantro, limes and warmed tacos. The latter offering is a do it yourself kit. If you've got chihuahua cheese at home to add in, that'll slap! Their consomme is tastier than most taqs offering birria, though a bit salty.“
“It's Monday and I decided to go with their quesabirria taco dinner special. The dish didn't disappoint, the broth was perfect and the taco meat was tender and easy to bite. The green sauce is so good I want to now if they sell it in larger quantities . I definitely will be coming back for something else on their menu.“
“Little GEM! A somewhat dingy exterior, opens into a bright, fresh, clean dining room with fun murals of pozole and avocadoes! Bathrooms were spotlessly clean.Table service, we ordered way too much food. Al Pastor burritoes, and 3-4 tacos, along with the chips we were noshing on. My Horchata was creamy and delicious, and a small size is generous! The burrito - crunchy, juicy, goodness!! The ingredients that weren't meat were finely chopped, which made this burrito a nibbly dream. Really tasty too, and LARGE. The two of us split ONE, and it was plenty of food.Charming, gorgeous woman behind the register was fantastic and friendly. Coming back for that POZOLE! A real gem, this little place.“
“We walked into this place and were surprised to find some of our other team members dining in there for lunch too! I have been here on three occasions and have never been disappointed. The last time five out of the six of us ordered the carne asada torta - the fan-favorite of the five of us. They dice up the carne asada into perfectly tiny bites to help you black out and inhale the torta without problems or interruptions. This explains why I don't have a picture of this delectable sandwich because it was gone in a flash. SoOoOo delicious and evenly balanced. It was a little of a mess, but I regret nothing. We typically have a group of six and can get seated without a problem during lunchtime during the week. They decorate during the holidays, enhancing our experience and giving it a local feel. My other fan favorites to order are the Chilaquiles con carne and tacos. The $2 Taco Tuesday special is almost too good, that mere humans do not deserve food this good for so affordably. Primos, we are not worthy of your greatness!“
“Last week I was on my way to take my son for a haircut and decided to stop and eat here. It was my first time. Service was great and food delicious. I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. Who ever it was Thank you so much if this is ever read. That was a beautiful gesture and completely made my day. I got my son his haircut and took him for some ice cream afterwards. I will definitely pay it forward“
“We were in the area checking out a place for tea (we live an hour and a half away) and decided to stop here for lunch. My husband and I were soo glad we did. Staff greeted us promptly, served fantastic chips and salsa. We both got the asada burritos with a side of rice and beans. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor! We’ve tried many Mexican food places and this one is top on the list. We are already planning a trip back to try more food! Thanks for the love and care you put in the food!“
“Ordered a steak burrito and HOLY MOLY, DELICIOUS!! Generous portion, tender meat, delicious tortilla. I love a good burrito and a lot of places will give you that weird tortilla to ingredients ratio where you take bite and notice 1/3 of it is folded tortilla, not this place.I'm so full but its so good I don't wanna stop eatin'. 5 stars.“
“I had seen within the last year that the Supreme Burrito was voted #1 for burritos in Evanston and finally stopped by tonight after a visit to the dog park. The guacamole is perfect in every way: texture, taste - and quantity! I loved my camarones (shrimp) burrito, too. It had big shrimp throughout the burrito, not just a couple tiny ones thrown in to call it a “shrimp” burrito, and had a good mix of beans, grilled veggies and sour cream that all came together deliciously. It will be a regular stop for me!“
“Great time! We had a group of six. They have a round table in the corner which is perfect. You can enjoy the live entertainment and still have a conversation. Everyone loved their food and the top shelf margarita pitchers were delish. The server and owner were attentive making sure we enjoyed our experience.“
“Excellent food. Excellent service. I absolutely love coming here for date night with my husband, but tonight, brought my family here while they were in town. We had a wonderful time, cannot recommend the mole enchiladas enough-- they are truly heavenly. Also indulged in the flan and margaritas-- such a treat. Tony provided wonderful service, was knowledgeable about the menu, and truly made our experience one to remember. Thank you for making our evening so special!!“
“I wanted to try a different Mexican restaurant & I Google & this restaurant came up. I must say the food was very delicious & the sauce was very good & spicy. The people was very pleasant. Be coming back more often. I had a steak burrito.“
“They hook it up with the bowls!!! Can feed me for at least 2 meals, and all the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful. Obviously as everyone has already said, the arepas are delicious, I have also enjoyed thier tacos. Tip, I love to top my bowl with the arepa CHIPS and the pico that comes with it. Never dined in, but delivery is always speedy and everything arrives correct, neatly packaged and hot! I believe the owners moved here from New Orleans, and they have added such a fantastic and fun option to the roto. We literally order every week! These folks are clearly paying attention and care a whole lot about the high quality food they are serving to the community.Dietary restrictions: I believe their menu is largely gluten free.“
“TACOS TACOS TACOS. woah! I came here because I was desperately craving a margarita & a spicy soup, got tacos instead & was so so pleasantly surprised. first off, they're bigger than the usual size you'd get. they're extremely tasty & juicy????? the taste is soooo deliciousssss. also, the margarita????? UGH, so good. come here for some quality mexican food, you won't regret it and the waitresses are so nice & cute. I came here after a training sesh & this hit the spot. 11/10“
“I think the people rating less than 4 stars are the same ones that say Taco Burrito King is delicious.. yuk, don't trust them. I'm Mexican and grew up in a Mexican household. Verde Avocado is the CLOSEST Mexican food that actually taste like home. Authentic zesty flavors, authentic salsas, authentic/best Horchata I've had. I order from this place at least once a week. Service is always great and staff takes pride in their restaurant.“
“Whats up fellow taqueros, this is your faithful TacoLoco her to review TTS. This hidden gem is legit. Nice, clean, bright and with great service. But who cares about that! Let's get down to why we came here.I ordered the taco dinner and a Diet Coke. If I'd know it was BYOB, I would have picked up 2 taco degenerates and a 12 Pk of Modelos and had a run at it.The meal was $19, but we'll worth it.The rice was fresh and well balanced. The flavor was authentic and the grains were perfectly cooked. The beans were AMAZING!I had them mix my dinner with one steak, pastor and carnitas. The steak was thin sliced and tasty but would have been better if it was flame grilled, but not bad! The Pastor was great! Light but tally and with real chunks of pineapple. Yes, pineapple. If you know, you know. The carnitas stole the show. They were fresh, lean and moist. Yeah, I said it - Moist! The salsa'a were full of flavor but medium hot. I like scorching lava hot, but these 2 were good. All in all, great place to eat. If you ever need a TD (Taco Degenerate) for company when coming here, 'put me in Coach!'“
“So the food was good but we were disappointed that the salud style tacos didn’t come on blue masa tortilla like it said on the menu and they were unfortunately out of the Empanadas De Yuca which was the thing we were the most looking forward too. Also we were not served any rice or beans which I’m not sure if that is still a thing here but on the menu I have it said this.I definitely recommend the fried Elote it was absolutely amazing an I would definitely get it again.Drinks were good definitely recommend the lavender mojitos and the Mexican mule drink.“
“The weekend quesabirria is what got me hooked! If you're ordering for pickup, online doesn't give you the option so call. All the other tacos I've tried are also delicious. It's a small location, so be prepared not to dine in. When weather is good they have tables outside.“
“Dropped in for a quick dinner. Was offered chips and salsa immediately, which was delicious.Ordered 3 tacos. Food arrived within 5 minutes! I got the Carne Asada, Crispy Fish and Pork belly. I was expecting the pork belly to be the best one, but it was the crispy fish that had the most flavour!“
“Very unassuming place. I just walked in randomly and had their steak burrito and a few tacos - food was excellent, very generous portions, great prices, and super clean. So glad to come here afterwards and see it has so many good reviews. Very well deserved!Dietary restrictions: Halal“
“Food is delicious and portions are generous. My mom loves the grilled chicken meal, and I could eat pupusas and curtido every day. Definitely give the dessert empanadas a try. The dough is made with plantains, and it’s a very interesting texture.Vegetarian options: Multiple vegetarian pupusas (though most are cheesy) and some really tasty plantain dishes“
“Hidden gem! This place is a block from our apartment. Been here six months and finally stopped in when the fridge was empty - now I’m hooked! I’m not super adventurous with Mexican food and my Spanish is terrible so I can’t speak to the whole menu, but the fish tacos are freaking fantastic. No idea how they get all that flavor in there with like three ingredients but trust me, it’s a must-try. And bonus, the woman who works there is super friendly and efficient - not so easy to find lately!“
“One of my favorite Mexican food restaurants!!! Love the food and service! Been eating here for almost 25 years!!!Parking: Street parking is available, however pay to park is primarily the only option. If you park further away it is possible to find limited free parking by peoples residences.“
“I really don't want to tell you how good this place is because I don't want it busier, but they are too nice for me to be that selfish. I've tried a good portion of the menu. The specials are more creative than you would expect for a small restaurant. Overall, the food is very good.“
“Literally ordered 2 tacos to try the place out and was made fresh within 3 or 4 minutes. Need to use bathroom anyway so literally came out and sat down and basically had my order ready. Tasted good and met expectation. Good spot.Parking: Small lot on very busy corner“
“The food is amazing. Always hot and fresh. You can tell these folks take pride in feeding people and are so talented. It is such a cute place! Lots of take out orders (like I said, amazing food), but there are a couple tables inside too. Either way, this is your go-to for good Mexican!“
“I literally drive an hour out of the way from waukegan area just to get their steak tacos…a lil pricey yes, but their service, and quality of food make the price with it!!! Seriouslly some of the best seasoned steak tacos I ever had in life check me out, you won’t be disappointed, but do expect to pay 40 dollars even for 12 steak tacos alone“
“When they say taco pros they really mean it. This place and taco my eyes. Probably the best places for tacos right now. Yes, they're super expensive but you get quality over quantity and they load it with cilantro instead of just using it as a garnish. So if you're not a fan of that you should tell them. Other than that it's fire. My boyfriend's a big taco connoisseur and I'm telling you it's fire.“
“This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! They use fresh ingredients, the food is always delicious, and it's a great value-for-money. Service is also really good. If you're interested in filling your belly, try their Torpedo Burrito and get a homemade tres leches cake while you're at it!“
“First and foremost, the staff of any restaurant are the ones that truly keep an establishment running and thriving and are the heart and representation of the business. The hostess / order-taker and crew at Stacked and Folded, were super friendly to us and offered such great customer service! The atmosphere inside is very nice and offers an elevated casyal food experience.Even though the average taco is around $6.50, it is very large and offers a lot of the actual ingredients. This was the case with my short rib taco. The short rib taco did offer a little bit of that spicy hot but not too much which was good, and yes, was slightly sweet in the sauce as advertised. Overall, the flavor combination was very good and would rate it a 3.9 out of 5. It was just tender and juicy enough, but could even be a little bit more tender in the meat. I know it is not easy when it comes to short ribs and believe me they did a good job here! It is worth getting! We had also ordered the short rib sandwich, but I recommend to have the short rib in the taco form. It just taste even better with the corn tortillas! The sweet potato fries are a five out of five star! Some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They are cooked perfection, and have that right texture on the outside and perfect on the inside. Amazing. Now as a cook, my (James’) critique is focused on the shrimp taco. Like every other item, Katherine and I had, the shrimp taco is made in a very fresh and flavorful, non-greasy and healthy tasting manner. What observations and what can be worked on from the creators of the menu is the following:The shrimp in your shrimp tacos-at least when we visited—was just plain cooked shrimp and was actually dry. My advice based on the best shrimp tacos I have ever encountered or made are taking thawed raw shrimp, then marinate them of course, and grill them briefly and just right so that they come out juicy and tender and with that amazing flavor profile. That would make your shrimp tacos a five out of five.“
