“We celebrated our anniversary here last night and were very impressed with everything about this restaurant. I changed my mind about where to sit and the host didn’t bat an eye - just gave us the table I wanted.
I had wanted a specific menu item that was no longer available. Sergio checked and the kitchen was able to accommodate my request. The mango margarita, crab enchiladas and flan were amazing!
The guitar player was a nice addition to the outdoor seating.
I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next dining experience here.“

“We live on the other side of Evanston but make the trip to Zentli quite a lot. Great for brunch with kids or dinner and drinks with adults. Varied and interesting brunch dishes and great margaritas. Staff is always friendly and there is only rarely ever a wait.“

I was not having a good day but tried my best to not show it. As I'm eating I saw a man come in. Eat by himself and then left. My surprise when I went to go pay. This man had paid for my food. “Ever since our former far north side Mexican go-to restaurant had a fire and reopened without the same quality of food we used to love, my partner and I have been looking for a new delivery and eat-in joint. We love how awesome the universe of Mexican food is here in Chicago but a lot of the eateries on the far north side are just kind of meh. Nobody deserves to eat meh Mexican food in Chicago, ever. It took us a year and a half to finally find Taqueria El Charro and we’re completely blown away. I’ve lived in Chicago for 21 years and he’s lived in Chicago almost as long. I used to teach English in Pilsen. Once I had a chance to move back home to New York City and I sat in a Chicago Mexican restaurant at 18th and Ashland and cried because I didn’t want to leave Chicago Mexican food behind. So, this place has some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten here in my adopted hometown. I don’t say that lightly. You don’t kid around with Mexican food in Chicago. I cannot emphasize how quietly awesome this place is.“

“Really nice hole in the wall place. Good bang for your buck. It's really hard to beat Chorizo pound for pound in flavor. They have a good variety of meats for tacos, burritos, and tortas. It doesn't look like they have any non meat options for meat substitutes. Everything is cooked fresh and served to your table if you can find an open one. Fortunately for us it wasn't really packed on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, the Chorizo tortas is the most worth it. The table sauces are pretty good, the red on tastes like chili and paprika and the green one is just tomatillo.

“Amazing food and quality. Didn’t expect this place to be that good but it really is. The people are super nice, great service, and food comes out fast. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.
For some reason the beans were the best beans I’ve had in while.

The latter offering is a do it yourself kit. If you've got chihuahua cheese at home to add in, that'll slap! Their consomme is tastier than most taqs offering birria, though a bit salty.“

It didn't make me sweat without working out (shout out to the man at the counter), but my god this was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. “If you’re in the Rogers Park area and you want some good authentic tacos stop by Taqueria Hernandez. I came here off of a recommendation as to who has the most flavorful Carne Asada tacos and they didn’t disappoint. With the taco dinner get two tacos as opposed to the three other places, but it’s really good and the staff was friendly.

“We picked up a huge order from the Evanston Big Wig location for my stepdaughter's college sendoff party not too far away at the Lighthouse Beach picnic pavilion--120 tacos (steak, chicken, chorizo) with rice, beans, guac, and pico. We didn't expect chips & salsa, too, so that was a nice bonus :-) There were tons of compliments on the food...everyone *loved* it and wanted to know where we got it!
