“Everything about the location and food is great! My family comes here at least 3 times within a week and the food always hits that spot! Great customer services! The young man even remembered my name everytime I come in! Definitely support local businesses , I love this family restaurant! It a must try when you come to visit! Big portions so come hungry! It the only place I go when I’m looking for real authentic Spanish food!“
“This place never disappoints! We go here at least a couple times per month. Their food is amazing! Their typical Mexican food is delish and their specials are scrumptious. This photo is of their “chef salad with salmon”. A HUGE piece of salmon with roasted vegetables. YUM! The owners are always around, the environment is festive, waitstaff is always friendly. Don’t wait any longer….go visit this place….it will not disappoint!“
“This was a great dinner, it was a well composed menu and everything was delicious. Highlight of the evening were the mejillones, Tetela, and the pulpo enamorada. The roasted carrots also brought a nice accompaniment to everything and a depth of flavor.“
“Amazing food - while we are sad they closed the restaurant operations, at least they are still open for take out. Show them some love if you can, the vegan/vegetarian community needs to rally for thesefolks.Vegetarian options: These folks are frankly putting out Frontera quality vegan food - and we love Frontera.“
“Love, love, loved this place. Outstanding food with a lot of variety on the menu which seems to rotate in new dishes with some standards. Excellent, friendly service. Great neighborhood atmosphere. Burrito is a must, pulpo was cooked perfectly, and the flan. My goodness, the flan... Will be back. Again and again. Street parking available. Reservations recommended.“
“Best huevos rancheros I've ever had. The Burrito Delight was amazing. The mocha latte was on point as well. The waffle was so fluffy with real maple syrup, and the daily special French toast was a great treat as well. I highly recommend this place.“
“Owner is contagiously passionate about his food, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. The juice/horchata/lemonade Are incredible - if it’s your first time, owner lets you sample each one. Ordered the birria quesadilla dinner with chips and guac, all of which were outstanding and so authentic. Will definitely be back!!“
“Delicious! It was very pleasant to dine and delight in every bite of this restaurant's cuisine. The best mole by far. Everything excellent.Vegetarian options: I didn't try them this time, but we will go soon.Parking: Easy to get to. And also its very informative website.Kid-friendliness: Comfortable spaces, cleanliness and friendly and professional treatment. The chef, wonderful. Thank you for your work and seasoning.Wheelchair accessibility: I saw everything very organized for the clients.“
“Gotta kick this off with kudos to Eduardo, an amazing staff member at this establishment. He helped curate both my drink and menu selections for the night, was super knowledgeable and attentive throughout. I ordered the pineapple aquachiles, roasted oysters and lamb neck birria. All were very tasty, however the lamb birria was life changing. Will definitely be returning for another round soon.“
“I used to come here with my dad geno I moved to Cali just got back and it was a definite go to! If you are ever in the area definitely stop by you won’t be disappointed one of the best tacos I have ever had!! And the owner is as nice as can be ❤️can’t wait to go back!!“
“The food and staff were amazing! Such a friendly staff who were extremely welcoming and attentive. I have never ordered ‘seconds’ at a restaurant until today! The tostadas were out of this world and the shrimp taco was delicious. A must try!“
“Popped in for a quick bite after visiting the DMV, what a great afternoon I had. Oh My Cod tacos?, slap, so good even though they were on a flour tortilla. So chill, came in around 12p on a Wednesday afternoon. Bartender was super nice, Nylah. Get the paloma, have two, you'll be feeling great. Eat the flower too. ? ?Side note the one in Lincoln Park is dope AF too. I didn't even know about this downtown location. What a win for me and my "me time" moment. By the time I left the bar was full. And the dinning area was more packed!“
“I was hesitant to try El Tragón, I've passed by many times and just didn't get the feel for it. Big forking mistake! The place is absolutely fantastic, the exterior does this place no justice. The birria was amazing! Tasty, not overly spiced or greasy; the tortillas hot and salsa spicy! Con una coka bien fría, que más !“
“The best birria I have ever eaten in my entire life. I've just been there for the first time and it's simply incredible. From the first place, I was involved in something difficult to explain, so many years passing and never having given them a chance or knowing the goodness of their food.“
“I went to La Josie during restaurant week and I was pleasantly surprised. My server was very nice and gave good insight on the restaurant week dishes: The tamale was PERFECT, a tad bit spicy but flavorful. I'm not sure if that is on the regular menu but it definitely should be. The churro cheesecake was amazing and melted in my mouth. The burrito was mediocre however, I was so impressed by everything else it didn't bother me much.“
“The margarita and Bloody Mary really good drinks, we also order a huitlacoche quesadilla, garnacha and queso panela. The taste of frijol molido with chips is like the one you can find in Oaxaca city. For sure we’ll back for the tlayudas, we just went for a drink to wait for a friend and end it tasting more that a drink.“
“I love this place! The food is amazing. The atmosphere is amazing and the art - you have to come by if for no other reason then to check out the original art! Top-notch… I’ve had a margarita here before as well and there are also great- I can hardly ever find a decent margarita. I highly recommend this place.“
“A delicious dinner from top to bottom. We began our meals with the chips and salsas and queso fundido, then ordered our entrees and forked through Cochinita Pibil and Mole Enchiliadas before simmering down with their coconut Tres Leches and Flan dessert options. The in house hot chocolate was quite the experience on the palate! 10/10 would recommend the bacon pinto beans- I am Mexican and these tasted EXACTLY like my Nana used to make! It tasted just like home. Our tequila-based cocktails were also such a treat. I would order the champagne margarita- but I cut myself off after two! Everything is freshly made and served hot. You will love every second of it!“
“The food was delicious, my husband loved the burritos and the slaw. Also, I don't know the name of the person who served us today. But there were quite a few people and he was alone, with one person in the kitchen, he still kindly served us all, thank you very much for that.“
“Great restaurant for a girl's night, date night, out small group outing! The food was great and so were the drinks. I had the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly and incredibly reasonably priced. I love that we didn't feel rushed to leave after we ate our food. We talked for hours and even got free shots when the waiter had to leave and dropped off the check "early". He was really kind and thoughtful. I'm excited to try different menu items here. + they accept reservations“
“Chilam Balam - A Culinary GemNestled in the heart of Lakeview East, Chilam Balam stands as a beacon of authentic Mexican cuisine, offering a delightful blend of tradition and innovation. This charming and intimate restaurant may be small in size, but it boasts an undeniable sophistication that permeates every aspect of the dining experience. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted by the warm smile of owner Soraya Rendón and a cozy ambiance that instantly transports you to the streets of Mexico. The décor is tastefully understated, allowing the vibrant flavors of the food to take center stage.Chilam Balam's menu is a testament to the culinary prowess of executive chef Natalie Oswald, featuring a tantalizing array of dishes that pay homage to Mexico's rich gastronomic heritage. One standout feature of their menu is the tapas-style presentation, allowing patrons to sample an assortment of small plates and share the experience with friends and family.Among the myriad of options, the enchiladas potosinas steal the spotlight with their bold flavors and comforting textures. Each bite is a symphony of savory goodness, with tender masa enveloping a filling of cheese and peppers, all bathed in a rich and aromatic sauce that leaves a lingering warmth on the palate. The flautas are another must-try dish, offering a delightful contrast of crispy and tender elements that dance harmoniously on the tongue. These golden-brown cylinders of joy are filled with succulent shredded chicken and served with a vibrant salsa that adds a refreshing kick to every bite. For something a little more unconventional, the peneques are a revelation. These delightful pockets of masa are stuffed with a medley of savory ingredients, ranging from duck confit to pico de gallo, before being fried to perfection. The result is a crispy exterior giving way to a meltingly tender center that's bursting with flavor. No visit to Chilam Balam would be complete without indulging in their exquisite ceviche. Served in small, shareable portions, this refreshing dish is a true celebration of fresh seafood, marinated in a zesty blend of citrus juices and spices that invigorate the senses and leave you craving more.In addition to the stellar food, the service at Chilam Balam is nothing short of exceptional. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado of Mexican cuisine or simply looking to expand your culinary horizons, this charming restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you coming back for more.“
“This is my second time eating here. The first time was dine in and the second time was take out. The waiter was really nice. I had the shrimp taco dinner and My friend had the Steak taco dinner. They tacos were fire. They were also a nice size, wasn’t stingy with the meat and reasonably priced. The rice and chips and salsa were also good. I would definitely recommend“
“The taquitos are quite good. And the home made salsas are fab. You need to try both! But the tomatillo avocado was my favorite. The drinks were nice and they have a nice local craft beer selection. The piña poblano was spicy and the draft margarita was delicious.“
“El Xangarrito is a gem. The presentation and flavors of every dish I've tried are some of the most creative Mexican food I have had. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff make you feel like you have been invited into their home. The prices are very reasonable for the level of food and service you receive. Their mole sauces leaves me craving more, and I am not usually a fan of mole. If you have not tried El Xangarrito, I highly recommend putting it at the top of your list.“
“The owner was so welcoming, the staff were very kind and attentive, and the food was amazing. We were given samples of the oatmeal shakes, and I regretted not ordering one because they were sooooo good…but I had already eaten my meal. Will definitely be back when we are back in town!“
“Ever since I discovered Barabaro, I order it at least once a week. Everything is delicious and fresh, with a good amount of spice. They definitely go the extra mile to elevate the food and experience. For example, the guacamole has some awesome toppings and the chips are seasoned nicely. You can tell the tortillas are fresh too. Definitely a cut above your average taqueria.“
“The food is legit. I had the Al pastor burrito, and my partner had a lengua taco. The burrito was a good size, seared a bit, and my favorite part was that it didn't come stuffed with rice. Tacos all looked tasty, but the Al pastor was dynamite. Prices were totally affordable. Will be back.“
“The Quesobirria was super delicious. The tortillas are literally handmade and fresh to order. I was impressed how attentive the staff was. Came with a couple of friends from out of town and I definitely think this place nailed a super delicious quesobirria. I will definitely come back. Found my new spot for birria!“
“Located in Chicago's lively Lincoln Park, this spot is a top-tier destination for shrimp tacos – and it absolutely lives up to the hype! Hands down, the best I've ever had. The shrimp and breading reach perfection, making every bite a joy. Their $4 happy hour is a game-changer, featuring signature Baja fish and veggie tacos, along with $8 margaritas. Don't miss their quesabirria tacos – three short rib and cheese crispy tacos with a side of consommé beef broth for dipping. It's a flavor explosion that's hard to beat. Taco enthusiasts, this gem is a must-try!“
“Best tacos in Logan square sorry not sorry this is my go to taco spot always I love the service the workers are very attentive team spicy tacoooossss ????Vegetarian options: Never had a veggie taco till I tried one here and it is officially my favorite Taco on the list “
“The food is unique, tasty, and filling. $8 gets you 1 arancini and a side, and is enough for the average person. I have a bigger appetite, so I tried 2 kinds: the jerkcino and peanutcino. Both were good and more than enough food. I'll be back to try the other “
“Great food and amazing service! The quesabirria was fantastic and my 4 year old (who usually isn't impressed with too many restaurants) loved her steak quesadilla! the rice and beans had great flavor and of course the tacos were amazing. So glad we found this place. Will be coming back!“
“If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food with lots of options (and generous portions!), look no further! Upon arrival, you get chips and 2 types of salsas (Roja/red and verde/green). I ordered a fish taco and an Al pastor taco con rice and beans. So much I couldn’t even finish! My boyfriend ordered one of the many options of burritos and it was the biggest burrito I’ve seen! He loved it!!! The mole sauce on it was delicious. Oh, we also ordered taquitos as an appetizer which could be a meal in itself for one person haha! We loved the food so much, we ordered a half dozen tamales to go. Chicken and pork. Soooo delicious. 5 stars. Can’t wait to go back and try everything else! FYI - it’s byob in case you’re looking to have a cervesa or cocktail with your meal. You’ll want to bring that with you. Saves money so you can eat more!!!“
“I ordered the taco dinner with al pastor and steak. The portions were well served and the salsas they have are tasty. They bring out a small bowl of soup when you sit down and it was great way to start the meal. The micheladas are also great. I will definitely return and try something from their seafood menu“
“You want the best tacos you’ve ever had…in life. Go here. They are consistently good and I love how the food is always packaged well. The chicken baby is THEE best chicken taco I have ever had. I usually order steak tacos but the chicken baby converted me to a chicken taco lover! It is so well seasoned & tender. It’s just *chef’s kiss*“
“This is my partner and I’d favorite place. We love the food and we love Paco (the owner). His creations are a stellar reimagining of the traditional Mexican dishes that we all love. All the dishes are not only Paco’s artworks, they come from love. Will always be this restaurant’s biggest.“
“Tacos? Perfect.Rice? Perfect.Beans? Perfect. The staff is so incredibly friendly, the environment is super cool and great photo spot, and there is amazing graffiti artwork on the side of the building that also makes a great picture opportunity. I highly recommend the Surf n’ Turf taco. I hope to be coming back again very soon. If you need somewhere that is quick and delicious do not hesitate to stop here.“
“This was my first time there. Everything I tasted was wonderful, and the menu was one of the most creative I’ve seen. I staff was friendly and efficient. I loved the fact that the music was in the background, and we could have a conversation among six people without shouting.“
“I found out I had to host Christmas days before the 25th. I can't describe how friendly, helpful and extremely serviceable they were with me placing a catering order only 2 days from Christmas. Since I needed for the 25th, they opened specifically for my order.....Wow!! The service was phenomenal the food was exceptional!! Truly blessed to have them in the neighborhood! Puerto Rican rice, tostones. lechon, ham and potato salad enough for the entire family (25 people) with left overs for the next day. Thank you doesn't seem enough for the owners. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and service. BTW......pistachio coquito......amazing!!!“
“4.5. For a mini Bayless experience, it’s tough to beat. Quick service restaurant, with very high quality tortas & tacos. 1/2 torta & side lunch special was a great lunch. Cubana torta & tortilla soup were high quality, great flavors, well prepared. Quick service. Highly “
“HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We love the food here. No matter what he have ordered - IT'S SO GOOD. You can tell from the food that the owner LOVES TO COOK. He has meals off menu that he likes to offer because he tries new things. The love of cooking is in everything he does. The service has always been really good, no matter who we get. This is our go to place quite often.“
“Fantastic food and good service. They served us chips with many homemade dips while we waited for our food. The meat was grilled just right. The only note is that I would have liked a little more onion and cilantro with the food but this place is still a very solid 5.“
“Very fresh and delicious food for reasonable prices. Fast service. Atmosphere is clean and lots of seating. The fries are best eaten in restaurant hot, fresh, and crispy. My family and friends always enjoy great tacos here too.Vegetarian options: Paneer Taco and BurritoRice and Beans“
“Hands down the best Mexican food around!!! I think it's a hidden gem in Rogers Park!!! The service is delightful & food is absolutely delicious...they are byob as well and if you bring tequila, they give a margarita mix!!! Perfecto!!“
“Amazing! The food, drinks and happy hour prices are a 10/10. The decor, music and wall art gave the place overall great vibes. My boyfriend and I spent a couple of hours here just drinking and eating, it was great. The only thing I would add is, the place was busy when we got there, so service was slow. I think our waitress was taking care of the whole place. I understand completely so will not be deducting a star. Overall amazing experience, will be returning!“
“Even though it was super busy bc of Valentines , service was spot on. Everybody was working so hard to accommodate every table. Food was delicious. We love the fact that it's family run. Everyone is so cordial and pleasant. We keep going back for more. We like sitting at the bar also, Jackie, the bartender is friendly and sweet And efficient. Give it a try!“
“My fiancé and I were visiting chicago for the marathon weekend. Our friend friend who lives local recommended Takito Kitchen based on the great experiences he has had there in the past. The owner himself is a UCF alum just like everyone in our group, so he came to our table to introduce himself and we had a great conversation. He was so friendly and our waitress Alma was amazing as well! So sweet and very helpful/ knowledgeable. An overall great experience! We will be back next time we are in town and we will recommend all of our friends here as well!“
“Bit expensive but the food is amazing. Right next to landmark so we go before we catch a movie. The enchiladas will make you wonder where they were all your life.Vegetarian options: I eat here with vegan friends and they love it. Vegetarian enchiladas and the vegan fajitas with seitan are their favs.“
“Food is so so fresh and the restaurant is so clean!
