This was 1st time in awhile where I asked for an extra scoop of white rice in my burrito bowl and the worker didn't look at me like I was asking for them to sacrifice their 1st born child then proceed to give me a dash of rice.“

“Absolutely incredible! From the moment the food hit the table, everything looked fresh and packed with flavor. The burrito was stuffed with perfectly seasoned meat, fresh pico de gallo, beans, rice, and all the right toppings—every bite was delicious. The chips were warm, crispy, and paired perfectly with the creamy queso, fresh salsa, and homemade guacamole. You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients.

And the margarita? Easily one of the best I’ve had! Perfectly chilled, refreshing, with just the right balance of citrus and tequila—not too sweet and incredibly smooth. It was the perfect complement to the meal.

“We’re not from around here and I’m SO glad we gave this place a try. Everything was great! Service, environment, food, quantity and prices. I wish we could bring them home with us! We tried taco dinner(asada, lomo & al pastor) and chimichanga. Salsa and chips served and they make fresh guacamole to your liking. Loved it!!! Our horchata and Jamaica were super large cups and tasted delicious and fresh. 100% recommend this little place.“

It looks small from the outside, but it’s enormous in flavor! It’s a very cute and nicely decorated place. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. But the food… it rocks! We ordered the Orden de Quesobirria and a Carne en su Jugo and a Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water) and a Horchata (rice water). The Carne stew was delicious! So many levels of flavors. The birria was fantastic! Levels and levels of flavor. Will definitely be back for the Menudo this weekend. See you all here!“

“Husband and I both housed our delivered three taco meals with rice and refried beans in about 10 minutes (chicken for me, pastor for him). Exceptionally delicious, every detail was fresh and tasty...I'm already thinking about my next order from here if that tells you anything.“

5/5 Stars – An absolute gem for authentic Oaxacan flavors! If you are looking for true, deeply flavorful Oaxacan cuisine, Istmo is a must-visit. The complexity of their dishes shows incredible respect for traditional Mexican cooking.The Food: The highlight of the meal was definitely the Flaming Pork Shank and Tlayuda / Mole Negro.The flavors were incredibly rich, perfectly balanced, and authentic. You can tell everything is made from scratch with high-quality ingredients.The Vibe: The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for a special Occasion and or casual dinner with friends as well as a cozy date night. The Service: The staff was attentive, friendly, and happy to give recommendations on the menu.

“Omg this new taco spot in the lakeview neighborhood. The steak tacos were great!! I loved my steak sope! The salsas are fire. The Jamaica drink is refreshing! My steak fajitas were flavorful and I loved the homemade authentic Mexican rice the cooks make here. Their vegetarian nachos are super yummy and I ain’t even vegetarian. Everything was authentically Mexican-delicious!!! On top of Mexican food the double cheeseburger always hits here and their fries are tasty! Way better quality than McDonald’s.“

“Excellent food! Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. It can be pricey to some, but worth it and they do different deals on different nights so it’s worth checking them out. If this venue was in the #Pilsen area, you would def need a month or two reservations. The chef is #Michelin rated – say no more. Highly recommended. “I recommend getting the #7 Rajas Poblanas con Pollo torta. I am no torta connoisseur, but it was like no torta I’ve had before. Whereas most tortas are tasty sandwiches, this one was more like a tasty meal. The portion sizes are ample and I left feeling stuffed after only eating 1 torta with fries.“

“Good local food spot for tacos, burritos, quesadillas etc. I went an hour after opening so they didn't have steak or birria available.

Quesadilla was hot fresh and tasted great good cheese to chicken ratio. Salsa was watery so I feel like it didn't pair well with the quesadilla, more like a hot sauce.“

“Small mom and pop taco spot with great food. Place is cash only i repeat cash only so dont forget your money. We had the Ribeye tacos very delicious and tender meat was well done, they also put grilled onions and peppers which adds more flavor to the 🌮. Be aware the peppers 🌶 are a bit spicy so eating them with their salsa might be too much spice for some people. I would do either or but you feeling adventurous try it with both. Pastor tacos were very flavorful comes with onion and cilantro. Asada tacos were rich in flavor well seasoned and not dry. These are hardy tacos 🌮 average person will get full with 2-3 tacos. Tortillas are oiled nicely and cooked well they hold their shape while eating after lime and salsa have been added doesn't get soggy or break apart. Over all great spot 9/10 👌 will eat here again. It is a small place so if it gets busy seating might be an issue they have 3 tables outside and a bit of counter seating inside.“
