Food and service were both very blah. Went through around 10 in the evening. Girl at the window acted like I was bothering her by being there and my burger was very sloppily made and bread overcooked. Fries were not hot. Just overall not impressed. What happened to Steak n Shake? This place used to be a staple in the Midwest. It was like a treat to go here when I was a kid.

Kiosks. What the heck? Part of the charm was the table service. This company has been going down hill for years and this is just one more thing. Bring back the pepper sauce. Place is just sad and empty. Oh well.

Not like it used to be. One must order from kiosk, get your own drink and WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT.There only 2 other tables and it took over 20min to get food for the 2 of us. NEVER AGAIN

One of the worst burgers I've had, rivals the taste of Hardee's for the worst. And that comes from someone who likes White Castle burgers. If I hadn't seen the cool bag it I wouldn't believe it was fresh. The fries were soggy and cold, like they spent the day on the counter. Definitely would not recommend. At least the root beer tasted ok and was cold.

I wish I had read the reviews before I stopped. The food was actually okay. The restaurant was absolutely freezing, there was no soap in the bathroom, most of the tables were dirty and there was No One around to talk to about any of it. It was the most impersonal experience ever. When the lady came out and tossed the tray on the counter and called my name, I tried to catch her attention so I can tell her about the soap in the bathroom, but she was gone just as quickly as she appeared. I’d was not a good experience. The reason for the two rating is because the food was okay.

I haven't eaten steak n shake for a few years and now I remember why...this location sucks..ordered chili 5 way..instead of letting cheese melt on its own they microwaved it and the meat sauce was super gross and tasted like dog food..not to mention I ordered a med cheese fry and didn't receive it..and I'm not impressed enough to go back up there to get it....now I see why these restaurants are going under..food just isn't the same anymore

I went to the woodriver location an hour before closing and the guy taking my order wouldn't say two words to my daughter and I when our food came out the bread on my burger had mold and my daughter's chicken strips were to hard to bite into

I once enjoyed eating here. Yeah the service was slow and it seemed crowded but the food was good and the atmosphere was alive. Those days are now gone. Cashiers replaced by kiosks. Servers replaced by self serve soda machines and your name being called for pick up. The plates and silverware are now plastic containers and plastic utensils. What once was a staff of many on this day consisted of what seemed to be only two. I ordered the Frisco sandwich which was decent. Nothing special but I knew that when I ordered. My daughter got the chili 5-way. It wasn't exactly what she remembered. There's no more pepper juice on the tables to kick it up. Seeing it come in a plastic container with the toppings smooshed under a steamed lid was definitely not the same as a neatly prepared plate. The cheese fries we ordered had a melted cheese sauce on top that once cooled started to seem less like cheese. We didn't do the milkshakes this time (sign said they were out of whipped cream). I can only hope they are as good as I remember them. Sadly S-n-S seems to be losing the battle against Culver's and Freddy's in this market space. The changes it made to combat the raising costs seem to have hurt it even more. Fingers crossed the old S-n-S returns someday.

Asked for no cherry. They left off the whipped cream, put a drink lid on top, and this was after I wiped all the ice cream off the side of the cup, which got all over my cars cup holder. Not to mention it's so thin, in a small cup, and they charged $6.99 for it. I'm never going there again and telling my friends not to either. Why can't anyone do their job right anymore.

Food was fine, Service was fine the problem I have is it's hot out and I don't have air in my car and I got parked waiting on chicken. They gave me a shake so it's sitting in my car as I type this melting for 10 minutes and I'm not happy especially with the prices these days.
