I have gone to this restaurant for years and have always paid by check after they started charging a surcharge for credit cards. Today I went there and they refused my check, severely embarrassing me in front of my guests by treating me as a criminal. I do not carry that kind of cash. Go to Sunfield's just down the street with basically the same menu, and they welcome your business.
Yolkville did finally accept my check after I gave them all sorts of ID info, probably just to end the loud discussion in their lobby, but it was obvious they did not want my business. There is no "no checks" sign visible to let customers now to go elsewhere if that is your preferred method of payment to avoid fees.
I personally will never go back to Yolkville again.

The food was amazing!! Service was exceptional! And the owner and his wife are the sweetest people you can meet. The prices are very fair, coffee was kept warm with the great server. Honestly, I will be coming back and recommending it to everyone I know! Try them out! You won’t be disappointed.

The Hawaii Five-0 Omelet (14.99) was PACKED with ham, bacon, pineapple and jack cheese! Diced potatoes were perfectly crispy and pancakes fluffy. Side note - I appreciated that the butter was on the table vs the fridge and soft, making it easy to spread. So much food I took 1/2 home. Service was attentive and super swift.

We went home with upset tummy's but we both had different meals... Was it in the water?... I don't know. The place is beautiful, the service was great but we probably won't be going back. We were even too scared to eat our leftovers. Having said that, the portions were great and the presentation was very appetizing.

I didn't like my avocado toast. The avocado they put on the toast was not ripe enough, still hard. And the poached eggs were cooked to much. But my husband liked his eggs Benedict with mushrooms and spinach. We would definitely try it again. Very clean restaurant with nice waitresses.
