My mother, wife, and I had lunch Wednesday the 30th of Oct. and had a very nice time. My mother has been here three or four times and my wife and I two. The seating was very nice, the dining area was spotless, and the service was spectacular. Our waitress, Beth, was so very nice and cheerful. She gave us plenty of time to decide and asked if we might like to all share a cinnamon roll while we read through the menu. She came back with the cinnamon roll and it was so delicious! After a few minutes Beth popped back to our table and asked how we liked our roll. She then asked if we had made our choices from the menus. We had a few questions and Beth answered, gave a few suggestions and we ordered. Our food came quite quickly. I think a manager brought our food, as it seemed that there were a few other tables all being served at the same time. We all started having our lunch. Beth popped back in to be sure that our orders were all correct and that we were very pleased. We finished most of our meal and Beth asked if we would like anything else. Being that we were stuffed, we asked for a few boxes to take our left overs. She came back with boxes and a bag, asked if we would like carry out coffee or soda drinks. We declined and I asked for our check. The check was on par for many places and I felt an exceptional value for the quality and quantity of food. It was not just filling, but delicious and left me feeling happy and ready for an afternoon nap. All and all, we had a pleasant dining experience and I felt very happy that I was able to enjoy the time with my wife and mother in such a nice place. I feel that the atmosphere, taste of food, and especially our waitress Beth, made for a great day that the three of us will remember. It’s possible to create nice atmosphere, cook delicious foods, and employ a high caliber of employee, but having all three at the same time is what makes a great restaurant. The Toast has all three. I went to the toast today. Let me just say it was not the experience I was looking for. Let’s just start out with it’s definitely not the toast it used to be. We asked to sit at a booth and told no it was only for 4 people, then asked if we can sit a small child in a seat that sit on the outside of the table, got told no they don’t have those seat. Only seating was outside. So, we decided to sit outside. Well, my friend who is pregnant got way too hot and sick to her stomach, so we got asked to be moved inside the waiter said, why didn’t you get sit at a booth anyway. We said we got told no, cause there was 5 of us and not 4 but, we had 2 children with us we could have made it work. She instantly moved us inside. That was nice. We waited forever for our food. The kids finally got there’s but still wait 15 more minutes for ours. Also, the price was outrageous for just 3 adults and 2 kids. My son wanted 2 more chicken tender and charge us the same price as another kids meal. I then had to go to the bathroom they shut it down for cleaning for like 20-30 minutes so there was a huge line for the bathroom I finally walked away and was just so ready to get out of there. I was so disappointed with today service. I don’t know if I will ever go back. I just know it was definitely not the old toast that I used to go to all the time when I was a little girl.
Anderson has a gem here. Delicious food. Fast and friendly service. Clean and cute atmosphere. Don't sleep on this spot.
This place has been remodeled and Wow, it looks Great.
The interior has possibly a couple fewer tables than it did before. The restrooms are very modern and very clean.
I ordered the breakfast Manhattan with ham instead of sausage patties. The ham was thicker slices but, very tender, sausage gravy was thick and chunky. I substituted grits for potatoes, they were quite possibly the best grits I've ever had! My milk came out cold and with the food as ordered.
George got the Western omelet, the ham and veggies were finer cut with plenty of pepper jack cheese. Hash browns were cooked medium brown and white toast.
Almost forgot the mimosas, which were cold and had just a little zip.
We'll definitely be back.
I used to go to the toast once a week with friends several years ago. I moved away from Anderson 4 or 5 years ago but heard new management had taken over. They've done an amazing job on the place. It's very much taken on that '50s vibe of the cute little diner with the classic diner bar and retro feel from floor to ceiling. It's a new and improved version of the Toast! Love it!
Classy
The service was incredible and so was the food! Our waitress was very helpful and was quick to help answer questions! The food was fresh and seasoned as well!

Cute and clean diner that serves fresh food made from scratch. A gem in the middle of Anderson Indiana.
The best mimosa I've ever had! The food could of used more seasoning. But the staff was great!
Food was so good, and service was exceptional! The wait staff was amazing and accommodating with our little one. The cinnamon rolls are to die for, and the fresh squeezed orange juice is so tasty.
This place is amazing. Good food. Good service. We will for sure be returning!
It's everything America should be!
