Overall my stay was good, but I need to address a disappointing experience with one of the front desk staff. I was up at 2:45am to catch an Uber for my flight and stopped by the desk to ask if I could charge two drinks to my room. He said yes, so I waited in the lobby for about five minutes before asking again, “Am I all set?” He mumbled something I couldn’t hear, so I politely asked him to repeat himself. Instead, he shook his head in annoyance. When I confronted him about why he reacted that way, he acted as if it never happened. He assumed that I was all set without saying a word to me.
This level of customer service is unacceptable and not reflective of what I expect from this location. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as this employee was not a good representation of your team.
Does this hotel even have a GM? There's no excuse for the 20 rotten (oozing rot mind you) bananas put out for breakfast, the expired elevator certificates and the list goes on. Never mind they don't respond to ANY reviews. I couldn't wait to leave.
Bad House Keeping
1. Empty bodywash in the bottle
2. Tilted Microwave oven on top of smaller size night stand
3. No cream and sugar, just coffee
4. Broken Hair dryer
5. Saggy and Uneven size pillows
Great rooms (mostly on east or west side of building). Clean. Noise levels were respectable. Visiting Big Ten Soccer team was in the building. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Parking fills up but easy access to rooms. Have stayed here several times over the years. Consistent service.
Pros: Walking distance from several restaurants and bars. Easy routes to nearby freeways. Helpful and professional staff. Clean rooms, good breakfast, decent coffee. One of the best Hyatt locations I have been to.
Cons: Room door was a little stiff. Shower didn't get as hot as I would have preferred. These issues seem isolated to room 417. The other individuals that I was traveling with had no issues with the rooms at all.
Our little get away! We always love our stay here.
Great people
What a chic place! I come here often!
The rooms are very spacious but the hotel is a bit understaffed. The lift stopped working but the issue was sorted out in a couple of hours. French toast sticks were the best thing on the breakfast table
Overall, I had a wonderful stay. The front desk staff weren't the most friendly, but the room itself was modern, beautifully designed, and very clean. I loved the soft, soothing lighting. The bathroom was beautiful, and the towels were incredibly soft.
The only issue was the door—it seemed misaligned. I had to lean on it to get it to close, and it was very loud to open or shut. But I'm sure this was just a quirk of my specific room.
Restaurantji Recommends
Felt new and clean. Good location with bars and restaurants in walking distance. Parking is $16 in the attached structure. I parked for free on the street though.
We were very happy with our stay, the rooms are clean and well maintained.
Only downsight: I know by now, that americans don‘t care about waste of garbage, but at least as a Hotel you could offer real mugs. Be a role Model for other Hotels and minimize the waste.
Last and only time I will ever stay here. I was hopeful, friends had said they liked staying here. The location is the only thing going for it. The staff was confused and unhelpful, the manager was never available, the computers went down and canceled rooms and incorrectly charged people. It was a mess. I wasn’t even given the correct room that I reserved and then was billed an extra $500 after I checked out even though I paid the member advance purchase. Not a typical bad review person but I left my stay too frustrated. Sorry Hyatt - going back to Spring Hill Suites.
The service was amazing! The staff went above and beyond to be helpful, and were always polite. Breakfast was great. The beds were comfy. The pool was well maintained. Our only complaint is the parking garage entrance is very narrow and hard navigate if you have a larger vehicle. But over all it was a great experience.
A Good Stay Overshadowed by Discriminatory Cashless Policy
I recently stayed at the Hyatt and generally enjoyed my time there. The amenities and services provided were satisfactory, and the location was convenient for my needs. However, I encountered a policy that significantly diminished my experience: the hotel operates on a completely cashless basis.
I appreciate modern trends towards digital payments, but this policy proved to be a real inconvenience. During my stay, I wanted to leave tips for the dedicated staff at the cafeteria and the diligent room cleaners. To my frustration, I found myself with only large bills and no way to convert them into smaller denominations for tipping. Upon inquiring at the reception for change, I was informed that, as a cashless hotel, they couldn’t assist me and referred me to an internal ATM instead. I found this situation confounding.
This policy, while perhaps aimed at efficiency, posed a considerable issue for me and could undoubtedly affect others. It felt both disrespectful and discriminatory towards guests who prefer or need to use cash. Moreover, it seems to overlook the needs of marginalized community members who might not have access to non-cash payment methods, such as those from low-income households, some seniors, or immigrants.
Additionally, there's a potential financial downside for the hotel; relying solely on card transactions may incur expenses due to transaction and processing fees. This concern might also extend to the staff, as cashless tipping may not be as accessible or prompt. If you look at my photos, you will see management encourages cash tipping!
Regrettably, due to this policy, I don't see myself staying at this hotel again, despite visiting the area several times a year. I believe simplicity and inclusion should be prioritized, not only for the well-being of guests but also for the admirable employees who deserve fair and accessible gratuity options.
