Excellent experience. Stopped in today for a large takeout order. The gentleman at the front was very nice and also helped us decide what to order. Everything was excellent! Can’t wait to return.

Closest thing to an authentic Chinese restaurant you can find within an hour radius. Great food.

I ordered a delivery and had to go pick it up even though I should have been able to get it delivered to my house other than that enjoyed my food! I had pork buns which were tasty and the fried rice was delicious, I also made sure to request for the food to have no spice to it mainly because of my spice tolerance lol

We ate here on a trip through last year and it was very good the first time (we told them it was our first try), and good the second time. This trip, I don't know what happened but it's not good. We ordered mostly from the "Chinese menu" rather than the "American Chinese", though we got our hot & sour soup from the latter.
The soup was pretty good, over-loaded with egg to the point where it was difficult to distinguish any other foods. Definitely very little in the way of vegetables. Smashed cucumber was cut up, not smashed, in a thin garlicky sauce - odd, we've never had it in a "white" or translucent sauce anywhere else, including here last year.
The salt & pepper fried spareribs were fried, for sure. Most of them was coating; whenever either of us managed to get through that to the meat, it was so tough as to be inedible. Or at least, not chewable. My wife even asked one of the staff if it was supposed to be tough and chewy, but the answer was just that they were coated and deep friend.
The cold noodles were all right.
The best thing we had was the salt & pepper crispy shrimp. Although I wish they'd been fried in hotter oil, so they'd be a little less greasy-tasting - AND they should have been fried in hotter oil so the tails could have been eaten! - they were at least all right to eat. The legs were crisp, the accompanying vegetables were mostly large slivers of jalapenos, and some onions.
All in all this was very disappointing. We only get here once a year and had really been looking forward to it!

To be honest, the food here is still delicious, and the waiters' attitudes are good, but the boss is too talkative and doesn't care about the customers' feelings. For example, the green vegetables we ordered were not available, so the boss changed the order on his own and told us after the change, instead of asking for our opinions before making the change. Example two, when paying the bill, the boss brought us the bill and told us directly that it was already on the bill. An 18% tip was automatically added, which was speechless. Looking at the bill carefully, he added 18% gratitude to the after-tax ledger - another name for tipping. There are two problems here. First, tipping is given voluntarily by the guest, and the guest has the discretion to give the amount. It is not decided by the store; secondly, the tip calculation method should be calculated on the basis of subtotal before tax, not on the basis of after tax. The reason given by the boss is that if there are more than five people, an 18% tip will be added directly. If there are four people or less, there will be no direct imposition. I wonder where this royal law comes from? Does it mean that the more people there and the more they spend, the more tips they must be forced to receive? So I strongly do not recommend this restaurant!

Coming to IU from.a Chinese household, I was worried about finding good, authentic Chinese food, but Longfei was a great find that I loved visiting especially when I missed food from home. They have a good mix of more traditional Chinese dishes and Chinese American dishes, so there's a lot to choose from and they appeal to a lot of different customers. I've never been disappointed with the food here, so highly recommend!

I've been going to Long Fei since 2019, when my coworker told me her Chinese immigrant mother felt this place was the best Chinese food in town. I took Chinese courses and was part of Chinese language club in college, and I really love the non-American Chinese menus at restaurants, and am a particular addict for pork bao. Long Fei is phenomenal, it has the best pork bao I've had at any restaurant, and almost everything I've ever ordered here has been great, both on their authentic Chinese menu and their American Chinese menu. When people visit us from out of town we always bring them here and pretty universally they say it's the best Chinese food they've ever had, and whenever they visit again they want to come back. Long Fei is also great at take-out service. They're just about the greatest thing Bloomington has to offer in terms of restaurants, and I say that recognizing it has some stiff competition.
Parking: Long Fei has a small somewhat difficult to navigate free lot directly out front. I can always find parking at a nearby IU lot, since I am an IU employee and have a permit, and there's usually paid on-street parking within a block or two of the restaurant. I've never had to give up on going to Longfei because of parking, but I have to be willing to walk a block or so most of the time.

I have ordered from this place a couple of times before and the food was great. But today the general tsos and sesame chicken it tasted very stale and sour.

Came here a couple weeks ago, and I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. The staff seems like they were annoyed and unhappy, the chicken lo main was lukewarm and greasy with not a lot of flavor, also my wife ordered sesame chicken it was also lukewarm and the meat was gristly with hard chunks, finally the inside was dirty and the tables were sticky.
