This is a small, friendly bakery with some seats and tables that offers a host of desserts--cookies, cupcakes, muffins, donuts, etc.--as well as some savory items like sandwiches and patties. I got a bunch of things here, all delicious. It is the only all-vegan place within 25 miles--and so good!
Sorry to give a low review but my daughter and husband just got home with the coffee they ordered and the milk used was spoiled. Both drinks had a terrible taste and smell and we believe it as the milk used I tried to call to give you all a heads up but no one answered. I called twice.

I’m always impressed when a bakery can successfully pull off vegan baking. The flavors here are adventurous and tasty- definitely not your typical bakery. I’ll definitely return.

I discovered this place during my senior year at IU. Every time I went, I would get an oatmeal cream pie and try a new item. Every time the oatmeal cream pie was amazing while the other item wasn’t. Now coming back after such a long hiatus I knew I only needed one thing. I went ahead and bought three out of the six pies (crazy they only make so few). I’m not sure if the owner or the recipe changed, but the pies looked different. I remember the cookies being thinner and smaller, but I could be wrong. The edges were crispier than the softer inside, but overall a good tasting cookie. The cream in the middle was fantastic, but a little less creamy then I remember. Good amount of sweetness, but would have loved a better ratio of cream to cookie. Even though they are vegan you would never be able to tell except for in the prices ($7 each). Highly recommend checking this place out and trying their oatmeal cream pie and anything else that looks appealing.

“I recently shifted in Bloomington was looking for a Bakery and then heard about Rainbow Bakery ,
had the most delicious experience! I tried the pastries, pumpkin bread, and a chocolate Swiss roll—everything was so good, especially the Swiss roll, which was rich and perfectly made. The pumpkin bread was moist and full of flavor, just right for the season! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!”

I have enjoyed this bakery for many years and the new owner and family are so sweet!! They thoughtful craft each sweet treat and make the best coffee and provide samples so you know you'll enjoy the treat before you purchase it. Their joyful atmosphere and positive attitudes are wonderful to see. I would highly recommend this bakery - try the chocolate Swiss roll!! It's fresh and made from scratch!

I liked Rainbow before, and I love it even more now that new management has breathed new life to their rotation of baked goods. There are a ton of new cakes, pastries, savory items, and coffee options and they’re all exceptionally delicious. I had the blueberry cake today and a little pumpkin bread muffin and was blown away. I don’t eat sweets often but the way the cakes are layered and decorated are so old-school, decadent, and charming and I couldn’t help myself. The new items are more complex and interesting than what Rainbow has offered in the past, which are still available as staples. I have always loved the staff at Rainbow and think the new owners are incredibly kind and generous—I always look forward to chatting as I get my coffee. Super grateful and excited to see an already beloved Bloomington business evolve into its next chapter.

The vibes are off. The magic is gone. My gluten free cookie was so hard and stale I had to throw it away.

Extremely dangerous choices for celiac peeps. Discrimination and harassment of employees even after a whole staff marched on- cross contamination is real. Do not falsely advertise safety.

i used to love this place. the new owners have completely destroyed what was once an amazing bakery. the new owners were called out by multiple employees for cross contamination & unsafe food conditions. they would bring food in from their personal kitchen to sell, they wouldn’t have soap in the building & etc. the new owners have made no effort to address these issues resulting in 2 different rounds of walkouts from former staff. its sad to see the bakery i used love basically empty because of greed and ego.
i definitely wouldn’t recommend this bakery because of food safety practices not being met. the price raises since the new owner took over are also insane. OJ is not $8.

Had a great experience with a special order recently made -- a dozen vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting and sprinkles. Was perfect for the vegan crowd and those with dairy and egg allergies. Would definitely recommend!

Super cute corner bakery! The gentleman working was watering flowers outside and was attentive and super helpful! The treats are delicious and moist! I was recently diagnosed with an egg allergy, so I'm missing out on a LOT of baked goods I used to love. Highly recommend going!!
Vegetarian options: Accommodate soy and gluten allergies as well!
Dietary restrictions: I have and egg allergy. This bakery is completely vegan!

today, the entire staff at Rainbow Bakery, both old and new, has made the difficult decision to walk out, following in the footsteps of the previous staff walkout just three months ago.
the core issues remain unchanged. the current owners lack proper training and experience in restaurant safety standards and practices, and as a result have created an environment that compromises employee well-being and customer safety. additionally, there has been a recent pattern of questionable behavior in regards to money handling, in which tips and wages were not properly distributed amongst staff, and instead a portion were distributed to the owners themselves.
despite our efforts to address these concerns, including critical gaps in maintaining gluten-free standards, the owners have continued to ignore necessary protocols in favor of their own greed and ego. this poses a serious risk to customers with dietary restrictions and erodes the quality of service we strive to provide.
special orders placed prior to our resignation may not be fulfilled to the standard our customers expect, and we encourage those who have placed orders to cancel them if possible to avoid any chance of getting sick.
we deeply regret the impact this has on our community we care about, but we cannot remain in a workplace where safety, integrity, and fairness are neglected.
we sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and understanding from the Rainbow customer community during this challenging time.
Sincerely,
The Staff of Rainbow Bakery
