Amazing breakfast/brunch at Runcible Spoon. Everything we ordered (corned beef hash, smoked salmon benedict, pancakes, etc.) were outstanding. The dishes were large and very tasty. Coffee/lattes were big and strong. Service was good and pretty quick. We will definitely be back, as this was one of the best breakfasts we've had in a while.

This place is truly a staple of Bloomington. The atmosphere is awesome, service is great, coffee and tea are amazing. I wish it would stay open longer but it makes sense that it isn't due to profit margins from small bills being too low and wait staff not getting as much money as a result.

One thing that can immensely improve is the food. I admire ambition when it comes to a menu and that is definitely there. However, I think there are too many things on the menu and they all are quite varied in their overall appeal. These food items don't really match up with the late night or early morning coffee and tea study days. This follows with portion sizes which I think are way too huge. They could cut down the cost slightly of some of their items which also helps with what I can imagine is a huge inventory and upkeep of produce.

I think the food items quality isn't there for the price either. If they were to focus on having a smaller amount of items that they perfect and craft, with smaller portion sizes, and reasonable price, this would keep me coming back for more at a place that I already really enjoy. At the end of the day, I do want to eat here, I don't want just a coffee or tea.

Side pancakes are huge! I would definitely recommend the salmon and egg dish on their menu, it was delicious. It was fun to sit outside when the weather was nice. Beautiful restaurant. Great for brunch with friends and family.

Great breakfast/brunch place in Bloomington. Family ate here when dropping off our freshman. As with many highly rated restaurants in the area, there was a wait. Once seated, we were served quickly and always with a smile (so sorry but I forgot the servers name!). All the food was good (not the best I've had but pretty solid). We had ordered the eggs benedict, "The Kevin Enright" and french toast. Coffee was good too! Overall great experience - would definitely come back and maybe seat inside to experience the victorian charm!

Oh no :( I used to love runcible but wow the food was not good today. Veggie Bennie was barely edible. Cheese was not melted, it was cold, spinach was wilted, English muffin was bland and mushy. Home fries were lukewarm at best and not crunchy. The service was lovely and of course the atmosphere is cozy. But plz plz fix up whatever is going on in the kitchen because bloomington can’t afford to lose another quirky previously delightful small business.

I appreciate very much the fact that it is pet friendly. We were able to bring our small dog out on the porch.

Stopped for breakfast this morning and was sorely disappointed by the poor service. Sat with a glass of water for 20+ minutes while servers walked by time and time again without even acknowledging we were there. They always just looked away. Other tables, seated after ours, had drinks and orders taken within a few minutes while we just sat being ignored. Finally we just left without ever being approached. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back.

Their service was fine but my takeout pancakes were unfortunately so bad I had to throw it all out. They had such a bitter taste, likely from too much baking soda or some other rising agent. Totally not edible.

Good selection of entrées, and nice ambience. Space can be a little cramped when it's busy, though. Great lattes, good vegetarian options, has a very diner-meets-home-cooking vibe.
