I went for a brunch date with my boyfriend on Halloween, we were sat in the basement near the kitchen and had the pleasure of enjoying the kitchens costumes, music, and laughter! I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict and a side salad and WOW it was amazing. I will be coming back and ordering the exact same meal.

The food was very fresh and had great flavor. We sat outside on the patio which we would highly recommend. The server was attentive too. Highly recommend them adding a chicken salad sandwich to the menu. There is NOT ONE currently but apparently myself and others have order their chicken salad and thought it would be a sandwich, not a regular salad. Either way they were really nice about the mistake and the grilled cheese I got was delicious. I bet they would make a good chicken salad though!!

Waited 20+ minutes for anyone to approach our table after being seated. We were there for dinner. Waitress didnt know the bar or food menu. We had drinks the left. Went elsewhere for dinner.

Uber kind and patient staff. Our group was maybe a bit high maintenance 😂 and they generously accommodated us. Food was great too! Nice to have a college reunion at one of our old spots.

The food was good, and the atmosphere was very nice. The outdoor seating was kept fairly clean and was comfortable. The service was a little slow, but it was pretty busy. The staff was friendly and kind. I would definitely eat there again.
I love the Runcible Spoon!! It is a Bloomington icon!! Course back in the mid 80's, when I went to IU, it wasn't as swanke. It was a basic Bohemian coffee house that also served pastries.
They've dressed it up a bit and expanded its menu since then. But, it still maintains the atmosphere that I remember from the mid 80's.
It was a pleasure to visit The Runcible Spoon today. It's a bit sad that they had to remove the coy fish bathtub.
Oh yes, the food, coffee and cocktails were wonderful.

Smoked Salmon Hash : 3.5/5 - hash is more of a re-fried mashed potato, generous smoked salmon portion ; overall thumbs up
Corner Beef Hash : 3.5/5 - Ditto smoked salmon
Service : Spot on.
Generally speaking, if proposed to be seated in the back, ask for indoor or front seating.
Runcible has been a spot I’ve gone to over the years and today’s food/dish quality was lack-luster..
