Got in last night, just wanted some quick food on a date. Food was decent and fairly priced. We got in, waitress took our order, and brought our food, and then we didn't see her again for a long time, maybe 40-50 minutes. We were trying to leave pretty quick, we finished our food quickly and tried flagging down other staff so we could just get the check and leave, but it still took a good 25 minutes after trying to flag people down for our waitress to come and finally bring the check. My food was okay and a 3/5 may be a little high, my date's food was not very good at all (do not get rice if you go here), but I only had a bite of hers so I cannot judge.
I understand the restaurant was popping and packed with people, so I am not mad or upset with the staff, it happens and I used to work service so I know how tough it is. The noise in there was incredibly loud, it is like they want it to be a nightclub at night but they also want you to buy food. It just is disappointing to want to leave ASAP and to be basically forced to stay until someone brings the check that never comes. Not mad, just disappointed. I had only been here one other time and had a good experience during the afternoon, but going past dark just seems far from ideal and I don't think I will go back. Unfortunate for sure.

Waste of time and money. The food was ok. The service was not good after my food was delivered. My waiter was out of sight. I took probably 10 minutes to eat and finish my drink and still no sign of him. I waited an additional 20 minutes at least for him to come back, and I had to get another waitress to get him to come to my table so I can leave the restaurant. When I told him I did not have a drink for over 20 minutes his excuse was he had other tables to wait on except for the fact that the restaurant was not busy. He had maybe two tables to wait on plus mine because there were several other wait staff there. So if you go, I do not recommend you getting a male waiter that is mostly shorter than the other male workers in there. He has dark brown or black hair.

Came here last night for dinner and it was soooo good. It was our first time here and we had the server Jake. He was super on it, got to us fast, super knowledgeable about everything and genuinely so friendly and welcoming. Helped us pick out our food and it was soooo good. I don’t leave reviews often but had to because I’m also in service and can recognize great service when I see it. Honestly an overall great experience we will definitely be coming back!

Neat atmosphere. Sat for what felt like 8-10 min before our server greeted us. He was apologetic and very helpful afterwards. The steak in the El Matador bowl was very dry and hard, like it's precooked and sits on the grill waiting for orders. Ended up swapping for chicken which was fine. Not sure why but the chicken quesadilla kind of tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Seemed like a fun spot for locals.

Very solid menu. I ordered the arroz con pollo and it was very flavorful and satisfying. In the past I’ve gotten some of the tacos including the hot honey chicken and the tuna taco and those were standout as well. If you’re looking for a modern Mexican restaurant then social cantina is probably your best option in Bloomington, good prices, service, nothing to complain about at all.

We are local to Bloomington and had recently eaten at Social Cantina in Indy for the first time. Our experience in Indy wasn't the greatest. They don't serve traditional street tacos which has always been a favorite of ours, but the chef there at least tried his best to accommodate us. The food was decent but a little different than what we were used to. We decided to give our local restaurant a try and honestly, with the exception of the service, it was one of the worst experiences we've had. They were out of pico de gallo, only had pickled red onions in place of regular onions, and the carne asada in the tacos was very dry. Once again, service at both locations was amazing, the margaritas in Bloomington were way better than the Indy location, the food was better in Indy, but overall for the price we paid for 4 tacos and a margarita, I expected more.

Came just after football game. Yes them Hoosiers. Or whatever. The place was a zoo. They won. Again .The table that was cleaned for us was quite wet and dirty. So we cleaned it a bit more. No biggie. They were swamped. We had reservations, still waited for 20 minutes. I got chicken burrito. Was good. The chips were not to my liking but everyone else liked them. Our waitress was great. Very nice, polite and patient. All in all, a nice place.
