I absolutely love this soma! The staff is always friendly and the service is quick, and the underground indie vibe is always fun. The seasonal specialties are some of their best drinks, specifically the cozy cabin and the iced 9 ! I am a townie and love how chill this location is during the summer, but I have been recently disappointed by the quality of this store's environment-- in the summer months and even into September it has been frankly unreasonably hot, to the point where staff and other customers are visibly sweating. Some days, it has gotten to the point where I have chosen to go somewhere else because the temperature is unbearable, despite this being my favorite coffee in town. I will certainly return for the great coffee and vibes, but maybe not until the cooler months roll around. Hope to see this issue resolved soon, I miss frequenting my favorite spot.

I absolutely loved coming here! I have lived in Bloomington for a while, and this was my go-to place- it was until recently anyways! Every time I walk in I’m suddenly met with an egregiously hot wave of air and the smell of sweat. I thought Soma had a higher standard of service, but that thought was squashed when it became month 5 of no air conditioning. I’m starting to lose hope. I do want to come back again. Genuinely am concerned for the poor baristas who work there.

lattes were good but 90 degree heat and sweaty baristas doesn’t exactly make for great ambiance…

Have been to the Hillside location a few times and enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Tried the Kirkwood location yesterday, and the coffee was good, but the servers were not friendly and there was racist graffiti in the bathroom; photo attached. Not sure how long they plan to leave it up, but it would be nice if they would remove it.

Out of all of the Soma locations this is the best! It has fantastic, out of this world service and the atmosphere hasn’t changed too much (bring back Godzilla legs lamp and King Kong in the tv fish tank) since I first started going in 2014. My drinks always come out spot on, and I’d try the food if it wasn’t priced ridiculously high. Bravo to the staff, drinks, and atmosphere. So, the reason why I’m giving this Soma a three star review is due to the fact that when I sit in the coffee shop I sweat. And no I don’t sweat because of the hot coffee or because I am a profuse sweater. The sweating is actually due to the AC still being broken! It feels that’s been broken for two years now. It seems like the owner doesn’t care about their customers being comfortable in their establishment. I see other customers uncomfortably sweating and some even asking the employees to turn the AC down to make it colder. Yet, they can’t. On top of that the employees seem miserable sweating all shift. No offense to the staff, but I don’t want their sweat in my drink too. So at the end of the day, the reason why I’m giving this Soma a three star is not because of the staff or the drinks or the atmosphere. It’s due to the fact that the owner seems to not want to take care of the basic up keep for the coffee shop and shows the lack of care for the well being of customers and employees.
P.S. Get a better bike rack for the east side. Bikes can easily get stolen when locked up on that joke of a bike rack.

They were kind enough to remake my latte when I ordered wrong, much appreciated.
A local authentic coffee shop. Excellent attention, and the food and drinks are good. Nice atmosphere. Authentic kind of place.
Kid-friendliness: Many children around last time I went.

Sadly a so sons experience. Service was ok but coffee tasted bad and the whole place smelled like mold. It’s a hole in the wall I get it that is why I expected coffee to taste good.
