This is the IU bakery and coffee shop located in the Memorial Union building. Their baked goods can also be found at other campus cafes. The baked goods are awesome! The cookies and muffins and cinnamon roll just seem to melt in your mouth (I'm sure lots of butter is involved). They even have a very good vegan coffee cake!
The drinks are not great and consistency is not the name of the game. Maybe the coffee is better than the tea, but the chai tastes more of sugar and cinnamon than tea, and the matcha was very murky, but maybe that's because I got the strawberry matcha and that affected the colour. It didn't taste bad but just didn't taste like quality matcha. The plain tea is Teavana teabags (the flat ones, not the pyramids), which are okay, but the selection varies and is not what's listed on the menu board. I like the iced tea they make during the summer better than the hot tea. They sometimes have bubble tea, which is made with a machine and is decent (as far as artificially flavoured tea goes) but very sweet. It's a complete gamble as to whether or not the bubble tea machine will actually be on at any given time. I tried to get it in the evening once but was told they usually power it down around 6, so came back around 4:30 next time, but it was off again. I finally did manage to get bubble tea a few times around lunch time and in the morning, but there have also been days where they don't turn it on at all despite displaying the posters for it. Tapioca pearls are on the menu but they seemingly never have them, only the popping pearls.
The baristas are students and are sometimes friendly, sometimes not. I would guess there's a combination of high turnover and poor training because some of them just seem very confused. They usually do okay at keeping the line moving though.
I come for the baked goods, and just get a drink while I'm at it because I don't want to wait in another line at Starbucks even though I actually think Starbucks makes slightly better drinks.

The people are here are so very nice whenever I went there whenever I do not hear me a debit card. The person was really nice. He also was very helpful to which made it a lot of great stuff by all means and also another thing what they do here they’re really good cookies. They have really good coffee. It’s really good all around here which I really do recommend it.

I waited 20 minutes for a smoothie while everyone who ordered ahead of me got their drinks and food before me. I tried to be patient because I figured they were just busy, but after waiting like 18 minutes, a worker finally asked what I had, and it turns out they had not even written my order down. Then, they told me they did not have the vanilla protein powder I literally paid $2 extra for.

We've had her oatmeal creme pies and chocolate chip cookies. Both were amazing!!
There was not a time in which I wasn’t disappointed with the coffee or the cake slices, so I gave up on the place

Perhaps the place I prefer in IMU... In any case the one where I pass most often! The prices are very reasonable, and the service is excellent; even if the products weren't as good, I think I would stop by just to have the pleasure of talking to Bharath!

Drove in from Kentucky to find it closed for the week. Don't believe listed hours -- call ahead to be sure.
This place has really good cookies and everything. There is so very good. The people OMG are the best. It’s in a good location, but be aware you have to pay for parking to get inside the building. They have accessibility parking, which I think is really good. You have a wheelchair or something like that, have a brilliant goes around
The quality has been kinda bad lately. Today my drink had like an inch missing off the top.
I ordered a custom cake for my daughter’s 3rd birthday, and it was absolutely amazing! She loves dinosaurs so I went with triceratops. It’s carrot cake on the inside, and it is the best carrot cake I’ve ever had everyone, especially and including my daughter, loved it!

I have bought Special K Chewies at Sugar and Spice since I was a student at IU in the 70’s. I love them and they are the reason I go there. Today I bought some for the first time in two years and they are terrible!! They taste like honey, there is no peanut butter flavor at all. I may give them another try in a few months in hopes they go back to the real recipe. But if what I bought today is what will be offered in the future, I won’t be back.
Ordered two gingerbread cookies, and this is what we got. Pathetic.

Sugar and Spice made my wedding cake last year and it was beautiful and delicious! This year, I surprised my husband with a small replica of our top tier for our anniversary and the baker knocked it out of the park yet again! Great communication in the planning, the pickup was on time and easy and the cake was perfect! Hoping to start a tradition each year.
