We were 50+ year-olds in a college bar on a Friday night. We knew what we were getting ourselves into. Our bartender, Samantha, was phenomenal! I don’t know if the college kids could recognize the talent and experience that goes into what she does, but we did, and it was much appreciated. Service was exceptional, and her pours were spot on. The only reason I removed a star was because of all of the vaping going on in the bar, including one of the other bartenders behind the bar. Isn’t that illegal? Maybe it’s not a big deal, but it always makes me question what other rules are being ignored, which gives me an icky feeling, which is why I didn’t order food.

Bouncers are incredibly sensitive and entitled, other than that a great vibe. Such a shame the bouncers get offended with the word queen. They take the word queen really personal so please watch which bouncer you say it to so you don’t get kicked out! (:

I was assaulted with me in my boyfriend.trying to order a drink and the bartender was being creepy with girls and called us a slur and made us uncomfortable. When we confronted him and said it wasn't ok my boyfriend was carried out by his shirt thrown down a flight of stairs. Being alumni and sober this was uncalled for and not a what I remember. Currently waiting for a response from management.

Hell yeah!! Personally my favorite bar in Bloomington. They are very chill and the vibe is always fun. We have thrown back everything on the menu (food and drink) and appreciate the Bartenders for putting up with me constantly playing Taylor Swift on the juke box! Love you, Upstairs!

Gave me a lime when I didn't ask for one. SMH should be a war crime. This is everything wrong with society and I can't believe this would happen to me. Was a great water long though just can't believe I got a little weasel little lime added to my drink -Riley hurst
No cover! Gets crowded, so getting your drinks takes time. Great bar atmosphere and you can't beat the rooftop section. Definitely worth the visit next time you're visiting Btown.

Classic Bloomington bar. Great place to watch the game, with lots of tv’s with all the games on and multiple bars to sit at. Bar tenders are always very friendly and the service is great along with very reasonable drink specials. Their menu is what I would consider “bar food” but is still very good and usually comes out quick. This place always has the potential to get packed but there’s a lot of seating (indoor and outdoor) and the atmosphere is top notch. Highly recommend if your trying to watch the Hoosiers or colts
The majority of the staff are not friendly by far. Management is poor and it shows. The atmosphere is typically subpar due to the smell.

Popped into The Upstairs Pub while me and my partner were in town, and while we were well aware it would be a college bar, we weren't expecting as poor of an experience as the one we had. Bartenders were rude and poured badly, foam and beer still pouring over the sides of the glass even as it was set on the bar in front of us. Then our bartender informs us in detail on how much he dislikes serving beer. The drinks were shockingly cheap though, which was nice and may be the only reason I'd give this three stars.I can see this being a decent bar to get rowdy with your buds. There was plenty of room, and the crowd seemed to be having a decent time. Atmosphere was fine but nothing to write home about, but the titular "stairs" to get up to the bar were incredibly steep and short. I know that sounds weird, but it was actually the most noteworthy thing there. I can't imagine being a little buzzed and trying to maneuver my way up/down those steps reliably.
