This place was hard to find. Tucked away in the back. It was worth it, food was great and packaged very well for carry out

I unfortunately arrived at Yatagarasu with a few friends to grab drinks. We went in and were met by the owner who was checking IDs just inside the door on the stairs. I handed him my ID and he looked at it, and then promptly bent it in half, snapping it almost all of the way through. Then he handed it back, said it was fake and that I wasn't allowed to come in. I stood there stunned that he had just destroyed my ID.

I am 29 years old and my ID was in fact REAL and not fake. I asked him if he realized that he just destroyed my ID, and now because of him I will have to go get a new one and he had seriously impacted me. He stood there and shrugged and essentially told me "tough luck." I asked him who the owner of the bar was, what his name was. He replied that he is the owner and his name is Joe (not sure if this is correct as it was loud and hard to hear.) My friends were also stunned, and together we then went outside to figure out what to do, as we had just paid to Uber downtown, and now I essentially couldn't go into any other place to get drinks with my broken ID.

Would not recommend if you don’t like having your drivers license snapped in half 🤡

Amazing ramen shop in Bloomington. I love that Bloomington is expanding its food options and this ramen shop is authentic and extremely well priced. I will come back anytime I am in Bloomington and craving ramen.

Been one of my favorites in Bloomington for years; amazing food (best takoyaki in Indiana), great prices on not just food but alcohol, and a very cool venue. Bring your friends, get some yakitori and kurage and slam down some sake.

What's that smell? Lack of cleaning, I assume. Couldn't even bare to wait for my server to come take the order, just left. Gross.

Hello Irviniea

I absolutely love this place! The ramen and malatang are fantastic, especially with their spicy beef broth. The flavors are rich and satisfying. Plus, the place is great, and they offer plenty of free gifts, which is a nice touch. Highly recommended!????

Walking in, you don't even feel like you're in the US.

From the restaurant's interior design, their menu options, and their incredible service, eating there quickly became an immersive experience that you will continue coming back for.

In my enjoyment I forgot to take pictures; everything there is otherworldly. Show this local restaurant some love and see it for yourself!

I just had dinner at Yatagarasu and was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with cozy seating and a relaxed atmosphere that made it the perfect spot for a comforting bowl of ramen. Yatagarasu is a must-visit for any ramen lover. The combination of great service, delicious food, and cozy ambiance makes it one of the best ramen spots I’ve been to in a while. Highly recommend!

I was just in for dinner where they offer ramen on the upper level and Malatang on the lower level of the restaurant—

Our table went for Malatang, which is a popular Chinese cuisine where you can pick out ingredients like fresh veggies, meats, noodles and seafood for them to cook for you in a soup base of your choice (almost like a personal hotpot!). You just choose what you want in your bowl, turn it into the front desk, and they bring out the final, perfected soupy bowl of your dreams.

It was wonderful—they have delicious and authentic variety of ingredients and so many types of noodles (I recommend the thick bean noodles for any broth) and they cooked it to perfection. The broths are flavorful and well-balanced!

The service was extremely friendly and approachable. I feel their passion and excitement not only reaches the quality of the food, but makes this a worthwhile experience for anyone to try, especially if it is your first time!

We will be coming back and cannot recommend here enough!

(They also gave my whole table each a soft panda plush purse to thank us for giving them a try but I feel we are the most grateful to them for giving Bloomington another treasure for us foodies!)

Today I went out to eat with my family. My family chose ramen and fried chicken, and I ate the Malatang downstairs. It was really convenient. I could not only choose Japanese ramen but also try the newly opened malatang downstairs. This made me I feel very happy. You can also order drinks. It is very suitable for family dinners or couples gatherings. I will bring friends here afterwards. I recommend it to everyone. Parking is also very convenient.
