If you're looking for a place where creepy men try to hit on your wife, this is the place for you.
Overall the food is ok, beer is ok (get the non-house beers), service is also ok. For a prime spot on the Monon, the goat is extremely underwhelming. Seems like a lot of the staff is new or at least rotates a lot. Not necessarily saying anything bad about them, just that it seems more training is needed from management.
The men's restroom in the bar area has pictures of nude and semi-nude women on the walls. Pretty odd for Carmel, let alone the Mid Town area. I guess that's what may attract the sort of clientele we experienced.
As these men were working their way around the bar area it became pretty clear the staff knew what was going on. We'd get glances from employees that made me feel like this is a regular issue. If that's true, someone needs to step in because this ruins the experience of any restaurant/bar. I was there with friends too who had the same issue that night with unwanted advancements from the clientele.
As I said the food and drinks are ok, but the atmosphere is a complete turn off. Across the street is Sun King where I'd recommend going instead

Hands down the best bar in Carmel. The owners have really built a great atmosphere to hang out right on the Monon. Excellent place to grab a cold beer after a run, grab a drink & food on date night, or watch an IU football game. If you are visiting Carmel it’s a must stop.

Leighton was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. His drinks were spot-on. What really stood out was his friendly personality and attention to detail; he remembered our preferences and made sure everything was perfect the entire time. If you’re at The Goat, definitely ask for Leighton — he’s the best bartender around! 🍸👏
Super fun place to go with friends! But there will probably be a line if you go on a weekend so just take that into account

“Out of all burgers,” including veggie burgers on Labor Day??
Drinks were weak and not impressive. Wings were just chicken nuggets with sauce. Waitress had an attitude and didn’t even check on us. Would not come back again.
