The service? Great! The staff were friendly and fast — absolute pros. But the food? It must've gone on vacation without telling anyone. My fish and chips were so flavorless I started checking if I'd lost my taste buds mid-bite. The coleslaw tasted like someone whispered “cabbage” near a bowl of water and called it a day. Honestly, it's called Swan Dive for a reason — because that's what my taste expectations did. Two stars for the service... and for teaching me what “underwhelmed” truly tastes like.

As we were celebrating my milestone birthday, I wanted to be where we could sit "on the water" and have a great meal! This was the right place for sure! Waitress Abby was fantastic, responsive, and a joy to interact with. All the personnel we encountered were friendly and accomodating. Didn't know about Wednesday night Musical Bingo. Can't wait to go back.

Food was mediocre and service poor. Perhaps brunch was a bad choice. Dinner might've been better.

I like the live music but the artists crank it up too loud. We couldn't talk with our guests without yelling and we were seated around in the covered deck area.

Server was Kate. Worst service ever. Didn't remember what we asked her to bring. Had to ask 2 to 3 times. Never were offered refills. Never asked how anything was. Never saw her for last 20 minutes. Had to go inside to find a manager to pay. Have never experienced service here this poor in the past. If it wasn't for the food we wouldn't be back. .

We've had good and bad experiences here, but this visit couldn't have been better. We made online reservations and were seated immediately on the balcony upon our arrival. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and we all thought our food was excellent. There was live music and the performer had an amazing voice and was a talented guitar player. My wife and I were entertaining my cousin from California. He was complimentary of our experience and of the ambiance and he has lived on the west coast and near Lake Tahoe, and in other beautiful areas. We will continue to be patrons of this establishment.

We've been regulars @BHK&SD since they opened & love it. It's great for date night, birthday parties, scenery & live music!!

First time experiencing the Boathouse and we will definitely return! The ambiance and vibe is amazing! We felt like we were on vacation and not in the middle of Indiana. The prices we found to be a bit steep but the atmosphere makes up for it. Food was overall good - really enjoyed the peel&eat shrimp and grouper fish tacos. The drinks were great although $20 for a double of Bacardi/diet was a hard one to wrap our heads around and wish the waitress had given us a heads up on the price when she asked my husband if he wanted to make it a double. Regardless, we will definitely return for the vibes, great love music, and good time!

Fun atmosphere for drinks/ dinner. Almost always live music in the outdoor bar area. You can reserve ahead on Open Table. Request to sit upstairs. Hot on lower level outside. A bit pricey & staff very busy

Very busy! Too busy to wait so we walked across the street to Alexander's Ice Cream on the Water. It was great!

I wish someone would have told me I needed to apply bug spray before entering the boathouse. We were sat at a table outside surrounded by millions of sweat bees swarming us. When we asked to move we were told to go to the front and then had to wait 30 minutes to be seated inside while the inside was completely empty. When seated, we were greeted by another group of swarming bees... Inside. It got much worse after we received our food and it's safe to say I will not be returning. If you are brave enough to go to the boathouse, don't forget bug spray. You may need to reapply.

This was a poor experience from start to finish. The restaurant seemed to be overstaffed with team members stepping on each others toes, yet no one was communicating about who was responsible for what.

When we walked up to the host stand, one staff member greeted us, but halfway through another employee interrupted and restarted the greeting as if we had just walked in. After being seated, a server took our drink order, but before she returned, a different staff member brought iced waters and bumped into our waitress. They stepped away behind us and appeared to have a discussion about which tables they were covering. By the end of this confusion, I ended up receiving the wrong drink. These initial interactions left me feeling like the staff had no clue what was going on.

When our food arrived, I had to specifically ask the food runner for malt vinegar as he was walking away—he didn’t ask if I needed anything else. Our actual waitress never stopped by during the meal to check on us or see if we needed refills. For our $3.75 drinks, we received no refills at all and only saw her again when we were ready to pay.

As for the food, the fish portion of my fish and chips was the one bright spot, but the coleslaw and tartar sauce were completely flavorless. My partner’s fish tacos were drowning in guacamole, and the fish itself had no flavor.

Overall, the experience was subpar: disorganized service, lack of basic attentiveness, and food that didn’t deliver on taste. We will not be returning.

We were looking for a place to eat outdoors and the Boathouse Kitchen is perfect. Big plus that they accept reservations. Nice indoor and fantastic outdoor area. Views and atmosphere are great too. Service was good as well. The food is a little overpriced for the portion size and quality. I paid $22 for two under-seasoned grouper fish tacos with fries. Add a third taco or charge less. Definitely worth another visit to try some of their other dishes.

Wow! I been to this restaurant many, many times thru the years as I live about 20 min. away & if we want to go see water & eat by the lake it’s there. However, this time was very disappointing. We went for an early dinner & there were several empty tables. We told the host that there were 2 of us & he took us straight to a table in the middle of the bar. I ask if we could have one of the many booths to see the water. He said he would check then he never came back. I told our waitress that he had gone to see if we could move & she went to find him. She came back & said the only booth was one against the far wall in the dark bar area. We ended up staying at our table in the middle where we couldn’t see the lake. Next, our waitress asks us if we would like drinks. I ask gor a planters punch vocktail. She says “what’s that?”. I just looked at my husband & said if she would ask the bar tender they would kniw since they have a full bar. But since she ibviously didn’t want to deal with that I just ordered a glass of chardonnay. Worst glass of wine I have had in a long time. Obviously they get the cheapest stuff they can find. I couldn’t even drink it. That doesn’t happen ever! Next to the food menu… this menu desperately needs updated with some new items. My husband ordered a marguerite pizza (& he loves pizza). It was not cooked completely in the middle. The only thing good about the whole meal was the fries. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert. Honestly I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I could go down the street to 10 West & get better service & a better dessert. Come on Boathouse! Do better!

Very fun place. Had a live band that was very good. It was extremely busy when we were there. We sat on the upstairs patio with a beautiful view of the lake. The tables were very close together making it difficult for servers and guest to navigate around and between them. We ordered the tenderloin sandwich meal and fish tacos. The tenderloin was good and the fish tacos had good flavor but had clearly sat for a while before brought to the table. The tortilla shells were so soaked with the juice from the coleslaw they just fell apart and could not be eaten in the typical taco fashion.

If going on a Saturday night I would strongly recommend reservation. Overall, we'd go back because of the atmosphere.
