Walked in, the young man with blonde hair told us we could not sit at a table , so off to a small booth ! Another young man with black hair was are waiter. We didn't even sit down for 40 seconds & he was asking for are order . I Give him are drink order. After he got are drink order to the table ( about 1 minute) he was asking for are order . I told him to give us a couple more minutes. Dam, he is back in 20 seconds ! Give him are appetizer order, he left & was right back at are table within seconds . Wanted are dinner order , i told him I was deciding on which plate i wanted ( stalling for time ) . He came back in less then 5 minutes & we gave him are dinner order ! Out came are appetizer & ⅓ of the way thur eating are appetizer ARE MAIN MEAL SHOWS UP ! Ask for take out bag for are appetizer's so we could eat dinner . Steak Burrito was dry & filled with lettuce i could hardly see the dry steak , rice & beans were cold ! Don't even want to try to tell about my wife's dinner ! We will not be BACK !DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS A RUMOR THAT NEW OWNERS TOOK OVER , SO YOU GAVE IT A TRY !

As a busy northwest indiana real estate agent in the go, Rubens is our local go-to Mexican food restaurant. Food quality is high and consistent. Prices are fair and food portions are good. Our favorite is getting the nachos supreme - we get 3 orders for our family of 4 and there’s always a good amount of leftovers left. ?Parking: Lots of available parking located steps from the front door

Found this gem while staying overnight in neighboring Schererville. Cozy location with delicious made to order food. The pineapple margarita was very good as well. Highly recommend.
Ordered from Ruben’s to cater a party. The service was great, I always get nervous about catering but they called to confirm my order the day before. They also helped me bring all the food out to the car.Everyone at our party raved about how amazing the food was, in particular the tamales! We ordered the chicken and steak tacos and fajitas and there was a ton of food leftover despite many people going back for seconds!We will definitely be using them in the future to cater!

Ruben's is a decent Mexican restaurant in the area. I enjoyed the tamales which is one of their specialties. The place is rather small for dining in, so I think a pick up order would be appropriate.

It was the first time I went to eat there, the only thing we didn't like was the attention of the waitress, to begin with they didn't give us a menu, then it took her a while to go to the table, when she went to take the order it seemed like she didn't care serve us, after ordering, they started to bring us separate food, he made a mistake in a dish, he didn't ask if we were okay, he just went and started removing the plates, we didn't like his attention, the food and the prices are fine, just The waitress
