We went at 2pm but be forewarned there is no “lunch menu” so we paid dinner $$ for lunch portions. Waitstaff was polite. Ordered Carnitas. I expected Carnitas to be roasted/broiled but La Esperanza’s meat had the consistency of boiled/baked which leaves the fat gelatinous and disgusting. And there was just too much fat-to-meat ratio. Ate three bites and took the rest home but my husband didn’t really want to navigate the fat.
Sadly the rice had the dry sticky consistency of leftover rice and neither rice or beans had flavor. I was hoping for that certain authentic refried bean taste but it’s not here! Really wanted to like La Esperanza given the location but it didn’t happen.
