The light burrito as well as the beef enchilada were delicious. Watch the salsa--it tends to be spicy.

We were originally headed to a nearby Mexican chain restaurant, but as soon as we walked in, the stale smell and understaffed atmosphere reminded us why we usually skip it. So we changed plans and stopped by La Esperanza for the first time — and what a difference.

Right when we walked through the door, the place smelled clean and inviting. The decor is charming, with lots of plants and thoughtful touches that give it a warm, authentic feel. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive the entire time.

The food exceeded our expectations. I ordered the steak tacos and a hibiscus margarita, and both were fantastic. Generous portions, great prices, and tons of flavor. They even have an extensive kids’ menu, which is perfect for families.

La Esperanza is truly a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

We went at 2pm but be forewarned there is no ā€œlunch menuā€ so we paid dinner $$ for lunch portions. Waitstaff was polite.
Ordered Carnitas. I expected Carnitas to be roasted/broiled but La Esperanza’s meat had the consistency of boiled/baked which leaves the fat gelatinous and disgusting. And there was just too much fat-to-meat ratio. Ate three bites and took the rest home but my husband didn’t really want to navigate the fat.

Sadly the rice had the dry sticky consistency of leftover rice and neither rice or beans had flavor. I was hoping for that certain authentic refried bean taste but it’s not here! Really wanted to like La Esperanza given the location but it didn’t happen.
