We aren't local and happened to be in Evansville for the day. Stopped here for lunch and left STUFFED. Not only was the good great, the staff was incredible-the gal working up front had the patience of a saint, sauces are incredible and the more we noticed about the atmosphere, the more we loved it! Definitely happy we stopped here!

Very RUDE cashier worker. She did not ask us if we wanted it to go or for here, like they used to ask when they had better people. She sits the trays on the counter when the food was done and my boyfriend kindly asked her if we could get it in to-go boxes and apologized. She proceeds to pick up the trays, rolling her eyes and says, “yeah, sure”. As she’s walking back to put them in the boxes, she mimicked my boyfriend in a rude way!!! Then we overheard her telling a guy that she has anger issues saying “little stuff makes me mad” don’t work cashier or fast food then. ??‍♀️

Went 3 times, last time service a lil slow. But food Phenomenal. Tried The Brisket was confused Two Big Chunks of meat...Delicious. Tried the pulled pork sammich....Delicious. Ok Now half rack of ribs..Never touched the sauce. Straight off the grill winners everytime. Potato salad is awesome. Baked Beans are over the top. Seriously the baked beans are so good I could turn off the heat in my House. Big chunks of Bacon. Yum!! Service depends on the individual. But twice was great and same girl.

If you haven't been there the Reed Street barbecue is good. First of all I will start out with the chicken and dumplings they have an odd taste at first then you realize it's the smokiness of the chicken when it was smoked and I pretty sure that they are homemade dumplings delicious. The pulled pork sandwich is good make sure if you get it to go you get a barbecue sauce to put on it! The bakebeans are smokey and delicious. I will be back for more.

I absolutely love the food and the customer service at Read St. BBQ! I have yet to have anything that I don’t like! And the prices are great too!!

Well I wasn’t going to do this publicly….I tried to communicate professionally and with constructive criticism. I tried to be positive and maintain a supportive attitude….but then they reply with this awful response and block me from responding. I now will no longer recommend them to anyone. And I work in a place nearby that could give them A LOT of business… but I will make sure everyone knows how their “new management” is running the place.A meal that previously cost $43 is now $59….that’s absolutely wild….I posted pictures of their previous menu so that you can compare exactly how much the prices have changed when you show up to get your food…The pictures may not fully show the conversation so allow me to transcribe them for you:June 8Cory: Hey guys, I first want to say that I appreciate your hard work and trying to take over the business and I understand that there will be a transitional period where things may not be 100%. With that said, since the new management has taken over, I have had takeout from there three times. First time I couldn’t appreciate any difference in quality which was a good thing. But the last two times I had paid for food that was forgotten (side items both times). I’ve noticed a huge decrease in quality of the ones famously delicious turkey (now dry and chewy). The loaded tots previously came with Grippo seasoning, chives and jalapeños but the last two times I’ve ordered the loaded tots they came with no toppings at all. Even after being asked if I want them and asking four times for “all the toppings” I got a total of six slices of jalapeños. That’s it.I work in the emergency department at Deaconess Midtown and order from Reed Street very frequently usually with very large orders. I’ve noticed a decline in my coworkers interest in ordering from you all having stated by multiple different employees “the last time I ordered from there I wasn’t impressed.” I would absolutely hate to see such an amazing business go under due to a decline in quality. I didn’t want to make a negative post that would deter others from coming to your restaurant so I sent you a message instead with hopes of being heard and seen changes. Again, I’m not mad and I’m not complaining. I just want you to know so that you know where to improve and focus. Thank you for everything you do and I look forward to trying your food again. Additionally, family from out of town who ate there prior to Covid and then again three weeks ago even noted the food tasted different this time. Again, it’s just concerning.Read St BBQ: Cory, thank you for your comments. I take these issues very seriously and will look into this immediately. I look forward to your return and you were feeling of the quality returning.Cory: Thank you so much for replying. I, too, look forward to eating the great food once served by your restaurant. Take care.November 11, 2021Cory: I understand that Covid has caused prices to “go up” but when you as a restaurant increase the price of meals by five dollars per meal….you were going to lose a lot of customers. I know that the original prices were considered cheap so I could have understood an increase by $1 or $2 per meal at most. But $5 is absurd. Additionally, you’re charging more for food that isn’t even as good as it used to be when it was cheaper. So you were charging more for less quality. No one in my unit goes do you guys anymore. Everyone is disappointed. I love to support local….but you have to do better. And shutting down a fryer at 5 PM…that’s prime dinner time…Read St BBQ: We are sorry that you feel that way. However we stay in the market with our competitors. We still offer prices that are lower than most barbecue restaurants in Evansville. Attached is Mission BBQ for example. Our prices are even lower than theirs. As for quality of food, our ratings have skyrocketed in the past 3 months. Please see attached. Again. Sorry that you feel the way that you feel along with your “unit”. Hickory pit is down the road but they buy our pulled pork so please enjoy our food there. ?

Read St. BBQ in Evansville Indiana is one of the very best BBQ joints, I've ever eaten at. It's a Memphis style BBQ but you can mix your sauce out of their selections. They have military and veterans discounts and are friendly. It's not showy but bring your appetite and your wallet. Don't worry though, you're not going to break the bank. Prices are reasonable and the baked beans and potato salad is awesome! The pulled pork was tender and just the right amount of juicy and not sloppy. Very good!

Very friendly staff. Restaurant was nice and clean. Loved the decorations. I had the pulled pork with mac and cheese. Seemed a little pricey. Mac and cheese okay but nothing special. Pork was a little stringy. Personally did not love any of the sauces. But I know that is a very individual thing. Definitely worth giving them a try. Outside seating is available.

Great tasting BBQ with a nice selection of homemade sauces to pick from. The restaurant itself is nice to eat at as well. Really enjoy going here for local BBQ. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want generic, chain restaurant style BBQ.

One of the best BBQ joints anywhere. Every food item is above average. They get crowded for lunch because they of their proximity to the hospital, but otherwise they are quick to get thru the line and straight to enjoying delicious BBQ.

One of my favorite places to eat in Jacobsville. Must try the smoked turkey.
