My partner found this wee spot when choosing stop off points on our way down to Otago from Chch. It did not disappoint! It was a cosy place with friendly staff and a great range of both cabinet and black board food (we opted for savoury scones which were delicious!). The coffee was some of the best we’ve tasted - well worth the stop off!

Popped in here to try their coffee today. Unfriendly girl at counter who just didn’t want to be there, very unhelpful. Lucky the girl making the coffee was a little brighter but coffee only lukewarm. There were so many flies around the food didn’t bother ordering anything. In an industry that’s competitive this place needs to improve. Won’t visit again

Came here for a takeaway as had a voucher from the entertainment book. Stoked they had some keto choices. Bigger than it looks from the outside with the dining area out the back. Helpful lady when asking about keto ingredients.

Very disappointed that, this once favourite cafe, has significantly changed.....but not for the better. Our two meals took in excess of 20 minutes to arrive. And they were not busy. The eggs were on the menu as being served on ‘sourdough’. They weren’t and instead were served on two thin slices of grain bread. Bacon serving was very small.

SO disappointing. Had this cafe recommended to me but I will not be returning. Unfriendly, verging on rude, service, followed by a lengthy wait. The worst eggs Benny I have ever had- cold, untoasted muffins coated with margarine and topped with cold poached eggs and hollandaise from a jar. The only saving grace was the crispy bacon. To add insult to injury priced at Auckland prices where I have NEVER been disappointed. Think you need to pick up your game Arthur’s Kitchen.

I'd read a previous review about how good the eggs benny were here and we were not disappointed. Great food and a great kahuna size C4 coffee! Absolutely loved the quirk of the setting. We too would recommend brunch here ?

I've been here before and returned to find it not so good as last time. The staff weren't overly friendly and the food looked OK. The buttie I ordered was dull... Not that tasty and missing flavor. I left most of it. The bacon was a bit stringy. Disappointing. However the coffee was great so that was my breakfast.! Unsure if I would return.

An intriguing place to come and enjoy good food and great coffee. Lots of nooks and crannies to get some privacy making for a not too noisy place to have a good chat with friends.

The best breakfast! Having passed through Timaru so many times in the last ten years, we finally found this absolute gem. Looks like an old butchers shop, but don’t be fooled, three rooms inside, outside courtyard and sunny lawn up the back. Coffee, food and service was without fault.

Myself and friends caught up for a chat and coffee. Pleasant surroundings, great coffee and food. Really recommend their date and cinnamon wholemeal scones

The best thing is the coffee but everything else looks tired and dirty. The cabinets never look sparkling clean. The floor in the kitchen is filthy. The cloths used for wiping the coffee machine look as if they need to be soaked to look clean. Customer perception is they look dirty. The staff can be nice at times but often unsmiling and yawning.Their staff turnover appears high as well.

Both visits I have eaten delicious food here. The gluten free options are fantastic. The service is friendly and relaxed.

When we arrived it was quite busy and we were happy to wait as we had been recommended the cafe and were from out of town. The server at the counter was rude and acted like we were a nuisance, the coffee was lumpy and after waiting 40 minutes for our meals, they were cold. The kitchen is quite visible from our table, there were meals sitting on the counters going cold when we left. If we hadnt waited so long, we might have said something.

The great coffee and excellent breakfast was a little undone by the service that seems to be an issue here. The attitude of some members of the staff is that the customer is interrupting whatever else they are doing. based on this i haven't been back since the visit but will give them another chance in the future. They do open early which is good and the coffee is also excellent as takeaway. Staff and service the issue.
