Stopped and gave this place a try for dinner one night. One word — horrible. I ordered a catfish nugget, whiting, and shrimp basket. Totally a waste of money. The whiting fish was over-battered, and when you broke it open, the batter inside was still undercooked. The catfish was overcooked, and the shrimp had no flavor at all. The only thing that was actually good was the piece of bread that came with it.

Had brought someone to Gary who never had Ray's and they were delighted...they loved the shrimp and the mushrooms as well. Customer Service was great also . The young lady was pleasant and welcoming.

The food wasn't good and the sauce wasn't impressive.
I saw video on tik tok, so I went. I got the shrimp and the perch just like the guy on tik tok. The shrimp were really good, not a lot of heavy batter, but that perch had no seasoning at all. I was highly disappointed with the perch. Will I drive to Gary again for it,probably not. You go and get those shrimp. Service is good and the sitting area is clean, and you dont wait long for your food.

I saw a Ray’s Shrimp on Grant St (Gary). Stopped and saw it’s the original store. Shrimp hot and the sauce (mild & hot) is the same. Just wished they use Grubhub or DoorDash.
