We were coming into town to see Rick Springfield and googled steakhouses and made a reservation. Once there, we were leery to stop based on neighborhood and FB posts we’d seen about gas station across the street and liquor store behind it but the building/parking lot were clean and well kept. Upon entry, it’s an old school steak house decor but the place was spotless. Light fixtures, frames on walls, bathrooms, etc were impressively clean. The host was inviting and we were promptly seated. I’d seen the menu online and thought surely there’s more, but no, the menu online plus 2-3 nightly specials is the menu. A few niche appetizer options that don’t seem like they’d be family friendly - calamari, oysters Rockefeller, crab cake - I believe 4 steak options all 8-10 oz or larger starting at $40. I normally order 6 oz filets but the only option here was a 10 oz. A chicken leg and grilled swordfish are the only other menu options so extremely limited menu, plus their 2-3 specials, last night it was fried perch/fried perch&shrimp or salmon. I don’t know if there’s a separate kid’s menu. Your only options for sides with your meal is French fries or baked potato. You can add a side of creamed spinach or crispy Brussels sprouts for $8 but you can’t switch out for an up charge. The meal doesn’t come with a salad and our server didn’t offer, we had to ask. They have a plate of greens, which is just that, a plate of micro greens (not a traditional salad mix) with what looked like pickled onions and a “to go” type container of dressing on the side for $5 no other salad toppings. I ordered the wedge salad for $10 which was a wedge of iceberg with blue cheese, tomatoes and bacon crumbles. A table next to us was unhappy with plate of greens and asked for a regular salad and they could not accommodate and never offered to cut up the wedge salad and switch up a different dressing which would have been a simple accommodation for the guest. While the menu is so limited, learning last night this is a new menu, I personally think this will be the demise of this restaurant because every table around us had the same complaint - extremely limited menu, sides and no traditional salad options. With all that said, I had the wedge salad, filet and baked potato and my companion had the grilled salmon, creamed spinach and plate of greens. I have to admit it was honestly some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Baked potato was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sour cream/butter and steak had a great flavor. My companion said salmon and creamed spinach were delicious too. I ordered the cheesecake…which is seriously the best I’ve ever had and enough to feed several for $10…easily 2-3x the size of a Cheesecake Factory slice and it’s house made..but it’s the only dessert option. In total, pre-tip with only water to drink, our bill for two meals with the add on of two salads and a side, no appetizer or special steak sauces they offer, our bill was $132. The food was delicious but I don’t think the limited menu will be enough to bring many customers back. If you specifically want a steak and baked potato or fries at a $40+ price point, this place is your go to. I know many may say well it is a steakhouse but I’ve been to many steakhouses over the years with a more extensive menu offering to accommodate a variety of tastes.

old school steakhouse. This is the second time I ever ate there. My girlfriend is a big Gordon Ramsey fan and heard he was there taping a show a month ago. It was good but not the best I've ever had. It is a staple in the area.

Been there 3 times. Burguers are OK, Steaks are terrible. When I ordered salad, they literally pulled it from a bag.

Went here after the update and was really unimpressed. I don't know if it's cause we're not familiar faces or what. The waitress didn't bring bread or tell us the specials. Didn't bring the brussel sprouts we ordered...she did that to the table next to us too. Our food took a very long time to come out and the place was pretty empty. The prices were up and the portions and value aren't there any more. Yeah you're getting the novelty of eating at a place Gordon Ramsey appeared at but if I'm gonna go drop all that money on steaks I'll just go down to Gino's for an actual menu, a larger steak, and not get charged ala cart for every little thing. It's a bummer cause their items on the old menu were fine. The taxes on top of taxes are a turn off...city tax, food tax, card tax, etc....sure they're allowed and whatever but 20 extra bucks in fees is kind of obnoxious for a local eatery. You're located close to Chicago not actually Chicago...I dunno personally I wouldn't come back unless I saw the old menu returned

Edit- I appreciate the offer but I said my peace. Complaining in person isn't going to make you change portions, etc. you see all the critical reviews have a theme. At least bring back the old menu then u have a starting point :/

Always good food and great service! The cheesecake could easily have fed 4 people!

Absolutely impressed on my first visit! Jennifer, our server, was kind and attentive. My medium New York strip was cooked perfectly, and the crab cake (with what tasted like homemade tartar sauce) was delicious 😋. Plus, the prices beat Theos. I will definitely come back and try their lunch menu.

Even a TV show could not fix them. Suppose t9 be a poor boy . So I get a raw burger that does not even fit on the bun

went to Freddy's Steakhouse after Gordon Ramsey did his visit and menu changes... had the gourmet burger, it was actually really good, albeit a bit pricy for a lunch burger... now for the not so good... the side salad is listed at 3.00. It was charged $5.00 and an additional 1.50 for bleu cheese dressing... while I have no problem paying the 1.50, i was not notified of this up charge. I was also charged a fee for using a credit card, I saw no mention or signage about his as well...

My steak was delivered half cooked and had to send it back to get finished. By the time the steak returned the rest of the food was cold.....bad service. I feel like the food needs to be checked before delivery to the customer. I left very disappointed

Our very first time here and we lived here since December 2015. MY HUSBAND BROUGHT ME HERE TODAY MARCH 27 for my bday and it is amazing our waitress/bartender CAT she is AWESOME. She went above and beyond and went thru everything on menu for us answered all questions. I love her already lol.. She even surprised me with desert and they all sang happy birthday to me.. This is hands down the best welcoming steakhouse ever.. most definitely recommend and coming back!!

My husband and I just finished dinner here and had an amazing experience. First off we had the best server Cat, very attentive and friendly. She helped us with all of our questions and had some great suggestions. We started off with the buffalo wings, and their blue cheese dip was one of the best I've had. My husband had the sautee perch and garlic mashed potatoes and it was fresh and so flavorful. I ordered the chicken picatta and the twice baked potato and it was also flavorful. Portion sizes are plentiful and we had the Southwest soup that I would definitely recommend. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was made to perfection. I would definitely recommend and will be returning very soon!
