We had heard good and bad about Freddie's. Good from friends. So we decided to give it a try. Kara had a coffee crusted pork chop with cherry glaze. It was delicious. I had a rib eye that was really tasty and good perfectly. We were full but orders a cheesecake to go and it is almost a pound by itself. We will go back.

Took my mother out to eat and it was her birthday. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve never had to deal with what I dealt with at Freddys. When I first went it was so perfect but now it’s so terrible. I went home crying my eyes out thinking I’d give my mother a good time. Definitely wasn’t it.

Lunch is still somewhat reasonable. Unless you want onion soup at $12 per cup. Had the poor boy at $20, everything is extra mushrooms adder, onions, adder. I believe they will price themselves out of business in Hessville. Dinner is out of site for the casual diner, but that's not who they are looking for anymore. See

So disappointed. Waiter was nice and accommodating. But he was wearing a hat which we thought was unprofessional. He called us darling and honey and sweetheart and whatever else that was inappropriate and disrespectful. You just don't refer to customers that way. The prices were outrageous. Absolutely ridiculous on the pricing. Tax was uncalled for. Eating dinner at an establishment like that and being charged to use a credit card was shocking. You just don't do that. A food tax? What the heck!! A city food and beverage tax? The price of each meal should cover those . The food was disappointing. Chicken marsala had a lemony sauce on it which I think was for fish. NOT marsala at all. The chicken was so flat and dry and breaded. Like it was meant for a sandwich. My 90 year old mother wanted a good steak dinner. She ordered the filet. Broke my heart that she didn't enjoy her meal. Had no flavor and very charred. The other 3 meals were just as disappointing. The only good food at our table was the French onion soup and the wedge salad. The baked potatoes were a joke. Absolutely nothing on them except a teaspoon of sour cream. We loved the old school atmosphere and thought we were in for a delicious dinner. I have never spent almost $400.00 and been so disappointed.

Portion sizes for the brisket dinner were small in comparison to the price. The brisket flavor was awesome but it was also half fat which made the portion size even smaller than it should have been.

We were coming into town to see Rick Springfield and googled steakhouses and made a reservation. Once there, we were leery to stop based on neighborhood and FB posts we’d seen about gas station across the street and liquor store behind it but the building/parking lot were clean and well kept. Upon entry, it’s an old school steak house decor but the place was spotless. Light fixtures, frames on walls, bathrooms, etc were impressively clean. The host was inviting and we were promptly seated. I’d seen the menu online and thought surely there’s more, but no, the menu online plus 2-3 nightly specials is the menu. A few niche appetizer options that don’t seem like they’d be family friendly - calamari, oysters Rockefeller, crab cake - I believe 4 steak options all 8-10 oz or larger starting at $40. I normally order 6 oz filets but the only option here was a 10 oz. A chicken leg and grilled swordfish are the only other menu options so extremely limited menu, plus their 2-3 specials, last night it was fried perch/fried perch&shrimp or salmon. I don’t know if there’s a separate kid’s menu. Your only options for sides with your meal is French fries or baked potato. You can add a side of creamed spinach or crispy Brussels sprouts for $8 but you can’t switch out for an up charge. The meal doesn’t come with a salad and our server didn’t offer, we had to ask. They have a plate of greens, which is just that, a plate of micro greens (not a traditional salad mix) with what looked like pickled onions and a “to go” type container of dressing on the side for $5 no other salad toppings. I ordered the wedge salad for $10 which was a wedge of iceberg with blue cheese, tomatoes and bacon crumbles. A table next to us was unhappy with plate of greens and asked for a regular salad and they could not accommodate and never offered to cut up the wedge salad and switch up a different dressing which would have been a simple accommodation for the guest. While the menu is so limited, learning last night this is a new menu, I personally think this will be the demise of this restaurant because every table around us had the same complaint - extremely limited menu, sides and no traditional salad options. With all that said, I had the wedge salad, filet and baked potato and my companion had the grilled salmon, creamed spinach and plate of greens. I have to admit it was honestly some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Baked potato was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sour cream/butter and steak had a great flavor. My companion said salmon and creamed spinach were delicious too. I ordered the cheesecake…which is seriously the best I’ve ever had and enough to feed several for $10…easily 2-3x the size of a Cheesecake Factory slice and it’s house made..but it’s the only dessert option. In total, pre-tip with only water to drink, our bill for two meals with the add on of two salads and a side, no appetizer or special steak sauces they offer, our bill was $132. The food was delicious but I don’t think the limited menu will be enough to bring many customers back. If you specifically want a steak and baked potato or fries at a $40+ price point, this place is your go to. I know many may say well it is a steakhouse but I’ve been to many steakhouses over the years with a more extensive menu offering to accommodate a variety of tastes.
