“We thoroughly enjoyed having our wedding reception at The Emerald Green. The new event coordinator, Dani, is truly fantastic. She is very familiar with event hosting and has a solid understanding of the wedding industry. It was a pleasure to work with Dani for her reliable communication, attention to detail, and professional coordination of vendors and reception timeline. Dani respected our floor plan design so the seating arrangement was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding. There was ample seating and space for our DJ, photo booth, dessert table and a gifts table. Our guests especially loved the food and the open bar. Overall, we were pleased with the entire server staff of The Emerald Green. If you are interested in a beautiful venue to host your next event, we recommend this!”

“It's definitely worth all of the hype there was a line outside the door 20 minutes before they opened. I had the turkey chops with garlic mashed potatoes. It also came with 2 sided, which were good but not as good as the main dish. I also had the house special cornbread.”

“Visiting the area and family wanted us to try their brews as one of their favorites. Tried a flight of 10 beers and favs were Tangerine Trackstar, Toxic Words, Lucifer in a haze, Immoveable King, Nuban overlord and the top one Here comes the reaper. We also had the Pretzel and queso for snacks. They were very good and fast. They also had ice tea which is not always available at breweries. I will say the art work gave me pause and some of the names being a Christian but I don't know the background to comment.”

“What an awesome place, every shake sounds like it would be delicious I can't wait to try them all. Their location is kind of obscure but very convenient it is right off of 173rd just west of Calumet. Directly across the street from Terry's aquarium and Walgreens. All of their shakes have natural ingredients and natural sweeteners and they use Herbalife protein powders and vitamin supplements.

“The joy I feel when I go to Home Plate Pub is indescribable! The bartenders are the friendliest and most efficient in all The Ville! The quality of the coke has gone down a bit, but the patrons that frequent Home Plate are some of the finest people that you’ll ever meet. The only other bar in Hessville that was FAR SUPERIOR the Home Plate was Brothers II, and sadly that fine establishment is no longer in business! RIP RON & SUE”

The soft serve was incredibly thick and creamy, and they put so much topping on my sundae that it was almost overflowing. Even though there was a bit of a line when I arrived, the staff worked really fast and stayed super cheerful the whole time. It was the perfect place to grab a cold treat and just sit outside for a few minutes to enjoy the sunshine. I will definitely be making another stop here next time I pass through this area.”

“We always love the food from Cracker Barrel. This last visit was unfortunately not very good. We had to continuously ask for syrup for the pancakes and then when they brought them, they brought the wrong kind as we needed sugar-free by the time they did get it to us pancakes were a little bit better than lukewarm. The eggs were not cooked the way we had asked. The service was very slow and although all this sounds bad, we will of course be going back because most of the time it’s good service and good food. We were at the Cracker Barrel in Merrillville, Indiana.”

“Wow… this place honestly blew me away 🤯🔥. Without a doubt, it’s the best fish fry I’ve had in the area! I ordered the Captain’s platter for $25, and it was loaded with goodness 🍤🐟 - shrimp, scallops, perch, a whole catfish, plus even two frog legs! It also came with fries, coleslaw, macaroni salad, and a buttery roll. Seriously, the portion was huge - easily enough for two people 😅.

It was actually my first time trying frog legs, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them 😋. Everything tasted fresh, crispy, and perfectly cooked. They also give you plenty of sauces, which made it even better 🙌. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which added to the great experience 😊.

I ordered mine to go, but they do have indoor seating available until 9, and there’s even a lively bar in the front that was buzzing both Fridays I stopped by 🍻🎶. On top of that, the service was really fast ⚡. Overall, an awesome spot that I’ll definitely keep coming back to!”

“I've never been to a Subway before so I was a little nervous about ordering. I entered the building and was greeted by a young man named Brayden. I think he could tell I was a little nervous about ordering so he went through the entire menu with me, ranking each sub from his favorite to least favorite. Then he told me all of the different variations they can do...I was astounded 😳! I was ordering for my 3 kids and wasn't sure what subs to order them. Brayden asked me about each kid and then suggested which subs they'd like based on their personalities. Well....he was right!!!! My kids LOVED what he picked out for them. While I was getting ready to pay he asked if I wanted chips and a drink. I said I wasn't sure so he suggested which chips and drinks would pair well with each sandwich!!! He was right again! To say I was impressed would be an understatement.”

I really enjoyed using my subway coupon, which gave me no trouble, and the ladies there were polite and very helpful. Inside is clean and neat, and the veggies looked great this time. They must have fixed the temperature gage in the cooler under the veggies, because at on point they were getting freezer burn, and I had stopped going. But I returned and yes they have it all fixed. “I visited Jonelle’s Restaurant in Hammond on a Saturday early evening and was immediately pleased to discover they serve breakfast all day. As someone who truly appreciates a hearty breakfast meal at any hour, this was a major plus for my visit.

​Regarding the atmosphere, the look of the place is definitely a bit outdated and could certainly use some refurbishing to bring it into the modern era. However, if you are looking for good food rather than high-end decor, that’s certainly not a deal-breaker. The vibe is very 'classic local diner.' I noticed that all of the waitstaff looked to be in their early 20s or younger. While they were friendly, there was a somewhat lengthy wait before I was able to actually place my order.

​Once the food arrived, I was very pleased with the portions and quality. I ordered a breakfast skillet which was delicious, especially after adding a little salt and pepper to bring out the flavors. I will admit the meal felt a bit pricey; by the time I finished and left a generous tip, the total was $30. But then again, I eat like a horse, so I certainly got my money's worth in volume! I would recommend Jonelle's to anyone in the area and would eat here again.”
