I wish I could give JJ Fish & Chicken in Hammond, Indiana, zero stars. Our experience there was absolutely horrendous from start to finish. First, the fish they served us was clearly old—slimy, smelly, and completely unappetizing. It was disgusting and unsafe to eat. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the fried chicken we ordered was raw in the middle. Yes, raw. Not undercooked—raw. It was as though they didn’t even bother to check if it was properly cooked before sending it out.
When we called to bring up these serious issues, we were met with a nasty attitude from the staff. There wasn’t a hint of remorse or customer service. Instead of offering a refund or making us fresh food, they suggested we bring the disgusting food back so they could refry it. Refry raw chicken and slimy fish? Are you kidding me? The lack of accountability and basic decency was appalling.
We couldn’t risk eating any of it, and in the end, we had to throw the entire order in the trash. It was a complete waste of money. The combination of bad food, poor hygiene, and terrible customer service made this one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs—you deserve better than old, unsafe food and a staff that clearly doesn’t care about their customers.

Horrible all around from girl taking order to the wait. Two other people in the store and still 20 minute. Maybe if they cooked more than one at a time and stayed off their phones it could be better. Won’t be back

Stopped by with my boyfriend and got a small catfish tail and large ocean perch. We’re looking at the menu ordering from the inside. Catfish tail is $12.99 & Ocean Perch is $12.99 however when we paid the total was $30. We’re like dang taxes must be expensive. Finally looking at the receipt, we noticed that it doesn’t match what’s advertised on their menu inside. Please update your menu with the correct prices! I think it’s not fair that some places can get away with not putting the correct prices on their menu and charge whatever whenever. The food was okay. The fries were a very small portion giving the fact that we paid $15 for each meal.

LOL they want a dollar to put sauce on the food. These places stay coming into our communities and trying to gwt over on us. Ordering 5 items and adding sauce means a 5 dollar surcharge...FOR ADDING SAUCE. Pass. Shark's will do it for free.

These people definitely don't want to be bothered. The cashier was very short and rude and practically threw my food at me even though I was polite. He treated every black customer rudely the duration I was there. My first and last time coming here. I won't be giving my hard earned money to these rude people anymore.

Parking: There is plenty parking but the lot is cramped it’s shared with a Starbucks so it’s gets crowded fast.

Not what it used to be. Catfish PCs were very thin and over cooked. Worst JJ's I've ever been in. Even the shrimp tasted like it was starting spoil and smelled bad. Never again.

Fish smelled like garbage, went back allowed the cook to make a fresh batch, every thing in me said to get my money back but I didn’t ,,cashier was very nice allowed me to smell the fish, didn’t smell anything because of the oil or whatever, got home washed my hands to eat, the same old a$$ fish garbage smelling, so hard up to keep people money. Y’all out here selling old fish, I live to far to keep running back and forth, make sure that yall smell the fish before they put batter and lemon pepper on it. Will not return
