I love Zels roast beef, and usually they are on spot. I got 2 sandwiches and both had thick and tough beef on them, usually thin and delicious. Although very disappointing, I will get them again, if no change, I'll have to try Portillo sandwiches.
Zel's roast beef has been an institution in Hammond. My dad would always pick it up for my grandmother in the 90s. To this day my mother loves it anytime I suggest the zel's. They are pricey but roast beef is expensive the quality is always consistent and the food is great. The lady working the front register has been there for about 25 years and she is still pleasant. I recommend if you are willing to spend a little more than fast food to get a quality beef sandwich.
Love their roast beef sandwiches. But since they did away with the giant ,and went to the smaller one at the same price,we don't go as much as we use to. Sadly that decision will be the demise of them,they have been going down hill since.
