Weird dip served with nachos that wasn't appetizing. Lunch fajitas not bad but unseasoned. Avocado dip looked good but Avocado was way to green and hard with no flavor.
Food was not good, there verde sauce Taste like it’s carbonated, my taco shells was crunchy, chips n salsa wants that good either
The horchatas was good on the positive side of things I would not recommend

Antonio is a beyond wonderful server and And SIR antonio is no bueno. He rolled his eyes at us multiple times and didn't even ask what we wanted to drink and sighed because we didn't want water.

food was awful. I've never had Mexican food that dry in my life. I've ate at some sketchy Mexican restaurants that have better quality food. the meat was harder than a rock and the rice was just disgusting. ate half of the burrito and threw the rest away (got it to go)
I've tried this place on multiple occasions since they have been in huntington. I went back this time because the new management and everyone swore to me that the quality of the food improved. (last night was my first night trying it in 7 years). again, I was very let down. I think I'm done taking my chances with this place. There's way better options in huntington for Mexican food.

We love this restaurant and come regularly. Street tacos are great, so is anything with queso on it. Every so often there is a weird smell in the building but that doesn't impact the food quality or service.
Since the family moved to Whitley County this has become our go to Mexican restaurant. Good prices, big portions, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend Mecates.
