George is the best and his breakfast sandwiches are unrivaled!! I love this little place and the welcoming environment.

Oh my, that sweet potato pie! Divine! I’m very particular about how I like mine, it has to be just the right flavor, sweetness and firmness. And I’ve had enough bad sweet potato pie before that I didn’t even think I liked it anymore. Then I saw A&M Bakery at the Garfield Park Farmer’s Market and I tried his pie. It’s absolutely perfect!Everything I’ve tried there is incredible. And I also love that he has a mix of the must-haves, like chocolate chip cookies and red velvet cupcakes, to some baked goods you don’t often see, also including the ginger molasses cookies, which are another favorite. In addition to the booth at the farmer’s market, I’m looking forward to visiting the bakery downtown to sample even more incredible confections!

The pulled chicken slider was even better than I hoped! Surprised to also learn that the yeast roll is handmade by the owner as well. What an under appreciated establishment. I’ll definitely be back.

Shout out to George! Bummer he's not open on Saturday, but find him at farmers' markets then. (Indy Winter Farmers' Market or Garfield Park in the summer.) He is SO KIND AND GENEROUS - at the end of the market he donates all his extra baked goods to local homeless shelters. Yummmm . . . and Amen! to that.

We were staying downtown Indianapolis and looking for somewhere to get a delicious and reasonably priced breakfast for us (including 2 kids). As usual I turned to Yelp to locate a better option than the expensive hotel breakfast that the kids probably wouldn't even eat. Found A&M Bakery Cafe and headed there immediately. The service was great! The kids wanted breakfast croissant sandwiches. The eggs were made fresh to order and the bacon was plentiful. Great food and reasonably priced. This is a great find. He was preparing soups for the day and they smelled delicious. Go for breakfast or later to get soup.

The salad bar has the basics and the produce is extremely fresh. The prices are very reasonable. The owner bends over backwards to give the best service. My husband had a hamburger but will likely order a sandwich next time. I recommend this place for a light lunch.

I'm in town for business just for the day and popped downstairs for a bite from A&M Bakery Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised when the Italian Wedding soup I had was among the best I've tasted. Hearty, with just the right amount of spice. Plus, everyone I talked to, from the staff to the regular customers, was extremely personable and friendly. A great experience!

Independently owned and operated. Small hole in the wall joint tucked away in the Lake City Bank building. Serving breakfast lunch and in between a salad bar is even offered. Food is good and very responsible.

The next time I come here, I will either come early to have a better selection of fresh pastries, or will come around lunch and grab a soup/sandwich combo. I had already eaten elsewhere thinking this was just a bakery since that was what I was looking for on Yelp. Note that the cafe is located on the first floor of a highrise building on the southwest corner of Ohio and Illinois. The cafe is to the right of the elevators and down a short hallway (enter the cafe on the left). There isn't a large dining area, but the place didn't seem too crowded. A salad bar is on your left as you head towards the order/pastry counter in the back. A soup bar has a couple options on the right. Menus are written on a whiteboard over the salad bar so that you can choose before ordering. Because of my circumstance, I only ordered from the pasty counter which was somewhat depleted by the time I arrived. Still, the pastries I got were very tasty. The apple fritter was a reasonable size and had nice flavor and wasn't oily. The small cherry pastries had a croissant like wrap around the filling and were good, but had lost their crispness due to the humidity. I also noticed that they offer a free drink with a lunch order for Yelpers! Be sure to check in! The folks who work there were friendly and said they had been open for five years. That's saying something for a place to survive without much advertising and minimal sidewalk visibility. I hope to get back soon to try out their lunches. Review #2705

I checked out A&M Bakery Cafe for a weekday lunch. At first we were the only guests, but were soon joined by one or two other diners. The menu is small, and all options are posted on the wall. If you're in the mood for soup or a sandwich and work in the downtown area, I encourage you to pop in! Here's what I loved: -The owner was kind and generous. He came by to ask if we'd enjoyed our meal. I raved about the soup and he told me to try the others. By that time I was full, but I sincerely appreciated the offer! So, then, he gave us a slice of carrot cake to share! -The homemade soup options. I tried a kale, sausage soup that was absolutely delicious! -The homemade baked goods. I tried both the sandwich cookie and the carrot cupcake. Both were DELICIOUS. -They sell Circle City Kombucha bottles. Here's what you should know before going: -The restaurant is more of a one room deli tucked inside an office building. -The decor is nothing fancy at all, and there is no natural light inside. I'll be back! Soup and cupcakes sound like the perfect lunch for me! :)

A generous fellow Yelper took me to lunch here with a super livingsocial discount. We were so excited to find this hidden gem of a lunch spot nearby! Tucked inside an office building, you walk past the elevators and enter the restaurant to your left. The cafe is a quaint little place. They serve up sandwiches, soups and salad. Definitely go with soup or a combo, a half wrap or sandwich with soup. The soups are different every day courtesy of their awesome chef. I had the chili, but it was so hard to choose between that, the potato soup, and the sausage, bean and spinach. Portions are moderate and perfect for lunch. We treated ourselves with dessert from the bakery to round out the meal. The carrot cake cupcake icing was to die for and the oatmeal cookie sandwich was indulgent. The staff treated us like kings! I'll definitely be back.

Great food with an inexpensive price tag. The soups and tenderloin are great. The staff is extremely nice as well, A&M has become my go to lunch spot.

Mr. George made my impromptu lunch very special. The food was tasty, but the atmosphere and the company made the trip worthwhile. May you continually experience abundance as you share good food and a kind heart with people. Blessings.
