I've had nothing but amazing experiences here since I started coming here back in the early Summer. The seasonal drinks are always fun and exciting and the staff is super friendly and helpful! I have some random food allergies and they are always happy to walk through ingredient labels with me to make sure things are safe. They're also willing to adjust the sweetness of your latte, my mom likes her drinks on the bitter side and they've always been able to accommodate. The portions on the food are very generous, with the Broadripple Breakfast Sandwich being notable for serving as a solid breakfast that encourages a light lunch afterwards! I plan to frequent this lovely little cafe many, many more times and suggest you do too!

This was our first visit to BreadWorks, and we do not plan to return. I recently signed up for TooGoodToGo, and my first purchase through the app was for a Surprise Bag of 'Bread & Pastries'. I understand that this is for leftovers from the previous day, but based on their Instagram feed, thought there may be some bread, bagels, or pastries. I was wrong. It was a large box of a variety of donuts. The donuts were similar in quality to what you would find at Kroger.
This was a disappointment, but the service really cemented our choice not to return. We were not greeted when we entered, which is always a letdown. Both of us have had service jobs, and were taught to greet customers when they entered the library, or stores we worked in. The staff behind the counter did not smile or say hi. We were eventually greeted by a woman about our age (in our 50s), and she walked us through how to use the app and redeem a free latte. I also purchased a drip coffee.
The latte (Caramel Nutcracker) was ridiculously sugary. The drip coffee was bitter.
The shop itself is gorgeous. We loved the reuse of the building, and thought it was really well done. There is plenty of seating, and it is a wonderfully executed design. We were excited to visit, so it's particularly dismaying to have had such a negative experience.

For this sandwich being $12 this is wild. One ring of onion cut in half with a very small piece of chicken…. maybe skip on ordering this. You will get a better sandwich for a better price elsewhere. Their iced Nutella latte is pretty good though.
I am a local in this area and have frequented this store a couple of times. Every time I have gone, the service has been awful. Can’t even say it’s mediocre. Does no one have time to say hi? As a former barista and service worker, costumer service should always come first, and it’s evidently is not cared about here. The overall atmosphere is nice but the coffee and the vibes of the people here are not worth going. I highly recommend to take your business elsewhere.

Really cute shop, the openness and airy design was pleasing. The service was terrible the older lady looked absolutely miserable throughout our whole interaction. They weren’t busy at all so I’m not sure what the issue was.
The yeast donut was too dense, the sugar cookie was good and the sweet tea was good.
I’m not sure that I would return.

Great pastries and bread. We tried 2 other nearby independent coffee shops and the coffee here was FAR superior.

Great atmosphere and huge menu. Pastries and sandwiches offer great start to the day and drink selection could quench your thirst.

When ever I am in Indianapolis I visit this coffee shop! Love this place 😋♥️
Awesome
I have lived in Broad Ripple for years and have been coming here fairly often for a while now and have never had an experience like this but today was awful and very disappointing/sad. I walked up to the register and was not greeted to start after making eye contact with the cashier. I said "hello" very politely and smiled only for her to take another sip of her drink then roll her eyes before stepping up to the register. She started typing to open up an order (still no greeting) so I just smiled at her again awkwardly not knowing if she was ready to tale my order or not. She finally said "hi how are you" with a fake smile and sarcastic tone which caught me off guard but I just ordered anyway trying not to think much of it because maybe she was having a rough day. I ordered 2 pasties and hot items and usually the cashier gives you your pastries beforehand but she did not (it's worth mentioning I ordered an item that only had one left on the tray). I sat down to wait for my order and to my surprise the cashier was extremely friendly to everyone after me and gave them all their pastries they ordered (including the last pastry that I had just paid for, she gave to another customer right after me). All of the customers after me were white and I am black, so I started to piece together the situation based on my observations. The owner/manager (I'm not sure her role but she seems to be in charge most times I see her) was very helpful and kind in remedying the situation and provided me with a refund for the item I paid for that was given to someone else as well as gave me a free secondary pastry item so thank you for that. I have never been treated this way anywhere in Broad Ripple and I was shocked to have experienced being treated like a second class citizen in Broad Ripple in such a blatant and purposeful way. I always tip and even tipped her this time as well (something I wish I could take back today or hopefully is at least shared with other staff). I am very disappointed with this experience and don't feel comfortable coming back or recommending BreadWorks anymore to anyone ever again, especially to other people of color.

The worst bread I've ever eaten. Literally stale walmart bread. Despite the name, this is not a bakery, it's a coffee shop. Basic espresso fare.
Do not order bread, or any other food. EDIT: this review used to recommend Prufrock instead, but new owners ruined that place.
Tinker is a bit west and Monon Coffee Company is a bit north. Both are amazing.
I love how close this place is to the Monon! It's the perfect spot to stop for coffee and breakfast. My vanilla latte was delicious and not too bitter. The breakfast sandwich and scrambled eggs bowl were excellent, although a bit pricey.
Parking: Limited number of free parking spaces in their lot.
