The sliced brisket is now in my Top 10 briskets experiences of my lifetime, and I'm from Texas.

Food was really good BBQ sauce isn't all that and prices are high!! There are no great commercial places like mc donalds, wendys, etc so these little BBQ or food trucks be the best in the city but finding something we can all afford that's the kicker,be easy yall enjoy-G Nation Tattoo's

Today was our first time visiting City Barbeque in downtown, and unfortunately, it will also be our last. I went with my children, and the entrance door was unlocked and wide open, which led us to believe the restaurant was open. We walked in and stood near the back to look at the menu for about two minutes.

A gentleman from the back of the restaurant eventually told us they were closed, so we politely apologized and began walking out. As we were leaving, a Hispanic man wearing pink headphones suddenly began yelling across the kitchen, saying things like “people can’t read” and “how ignorant people are.” His tone was loud, rude, and completely uncalled for—especially in front of children.

He then came out of the kitchen and continued to speak directly at us with the same disrespectful attitude. I turned around and told him there was no need to speak to us in that manner. We had simply walked into an open business unaware they had closed.

To make matters worse, another employee with dreadlocks also made comments about how “dumb” we were, and only then did someone who may have been a manager step in and attempt to apologize. By then, the damage had already been done—we felt insulted, embarrassed, and completely disrespected.

This was an extremely disappointing experience, and I would never recommend this location to anyone. We didn’t even get to try the food, but based on how we were treated, I can’t imagine trusting the service or the environment. Customer service matters, and this was unacceptable on every level. If I could give zero stars, I would.

City BBQ
I have a thing for roasted/smoked/BBQ’d chicken. Most of the time when I order it in various restaurants, instead of the above I am served Sahara chicken, sometimes Kalahari chicken, and lately it’s been Atacama Desert Chicken. There’s seems to be a dearth of moist chicken served in Indianapolis except at City BBQ, the location near IUPUI. I haven’t been to the other locations so I can’t really talk about those. I did ask a young man working there, I believe a manager, if the chicken was moist. He was very surprised at the question. And I warned him, menaced more like it, that I would be returning it if my chicken was going to be like the other desert-like chickens I have encountered in other eateries. To my surprise, and I was startled to tell the truth (my partner has even forbidden me order chicken out btw) this was the most moist, smoked, BBQ’d chicken I have ever encountered in this city! After polishing it off with gusto, I crossed paths with the young manager as he was coming over to ask me how their chicken compared, we met halfway. I almost embraced him. He was so touched he wanted to treat me to bread pudding, which I would normally accept but am following the Keto diet presently so that was not an option. But thank you, thank you for being moist. I enjoyed the sides of cole slaw, greens with bacon, the presentation, and over all the smoky smell in the place. Have been back several times. I use my BBQ chicken left overs to make smoked chicken salad, and to borrow young people’s slang, “It’s da bomb!”

We were in town from 3 hours away and stopped in to eat. I'm picking about my BBQ and I wasn't sure, but the food was EXCELLENT!! Fall off the bone ribs, great mac n cheese, and my wife really enjoyed the string beans. Never had string beans seasoned and cooked like that! Whenever we come back to Indy, we're definitely coming back!

This is the best BBQ I've ever had, in my life! I had great BBQ in Memphis, they received an award for #1 BBQ in the US, and this is better! Chicken and amazing fries - we used to call them 'fair fries' with perfect sweet tea, $16 - are you kidding me?!?! I'm from Florida and asked them to please open up a restaurant there, because nothing in my great state can touch this!

First time ordering online through their website. On the last step, the “order” button didn’t respond, so I couldn’t complete the order. It felt like a waste of time. I wanted to support them directly instead of using a third-party app, but learned my lesson.

When I showed the issue to an employee inside, he tried to help but nothing worked, and he didn’t say anything else about it. I ended up placing the order in-store.

The food came out pretty quickly. They forgot one part of my order and called out “hey” when I was already at the door, but luckily I did receive everything in the end.

The sandwich, pulled chicken, and chocolate cake were delicious. The fries were unsalted, which I actually loved since it’s rare to find that. The burnt ends were about 80% fat. I enjoy fat, but this was too much even for me, so I ended up throwing them away.

Overall, not bad, but definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Unbeatable flavor and selection! Definitely a big fan of Sweet City BBQ sauce but there are other great options. Meat all served naked proving that the smoked meat is superior to other competitors out there.

Our pulled pork was cold. We got the wrong side and we were not given silverware or plates. I ended up getting some of the takeout containers and plastic utensils as no one would help me at the counter. Very overpriced for the little amount of fatty pulled pork you get. The area is not very good either. We were in town to visit family and will not come back!
