I love the feel and decor. Prices were fair. Hard to find parking. I didn’t go for a meal, I went to get bakery items. They only had 2 kinds of cookies, both of which didn’t appeal to me (captain crunch sugar cookies, molasses cookies). I bought 3 of the 5 things in the case. The cinnamon roll was really good. The muffin was okay at best, the strawberry pull apart was dried out. I may go back for lunch one day if I am downtown, but I drove 30 min for the bakery and was very disappointed. It was not worth my drive or the money I spent. ?

Delicious, lovingly handcrafted pastries and sandwiches. Always something new, too. Treat yourself - or go 2-3 times a week like I do.

Top notch good quality food. It is fairly expensive, but the quality is good. Do not expect to get a sandwich in under 10 minutes when the place is empty.

Love this place, especially their savory items! They make a pastry with goat cheese that is fabulous. Only wish they were open on weekends!

Excellent carry out lunch - very delightful - exceeded expectations- reviews to date for lunch in this area downtown with so many nearby choices are spot on, this is where you want to get lunch if doing carry out - trust us!

I came for an almond croissant, and left without an almond croissant (they sold out!) but instead got a chocolate chip cookie, a sugar cookie, an almond cherry bostock and something called a Friendship Muffin. Because who am I kidding: I can't visit a bakery and get just ONE thing. What am I, an animal? Of the four, my favorite was the sugar cookie. Usually, sugar cookies are nothing to sing about, but this sugar cookie was singing from the rooftops and tap-dancing, too. It was a buttery, sugary, melt-in-your-mouth experience. Crisp around the edges but tender in the middle. It was kind of like vanilla pudding in cookie form. I had never had a bostock before, and they are very good. It was described as similar to an almond-stuffed french toast, and it had what tasted like marzipan in the middle, as well as a poached cherry. The Friendship Muffin was good but huge. (You can share it with friends!) And the chocolate chip cookie was awesome, but had a lot of chocolate in it. It had both chocolate chips and cocoa nibs, so if you like lots of chocolate, get this one! When we visited in the afternoon, the bakery case was almost picked clean. So if you want the best variety, visit in the morning. They did just pull out a baking sheet of cookies from the oven when we arrived in the afternoon, so I think they bake some things all day.

This is a very small specialty bakery. The staff was really friendly and helpful. You walk into small area with a glass cabinet full of bakery items in front of you. Beyond you see the kitchen in total and to the left you see an 8-person farmhouse-type table to reserve for a private party. There is no public seating. The bakery is accessible from the lobby of a newer high-rise in downtown Indy just sw of the Central Library. Parking is tough; you just look for it along Meridian. The turkey sandwich we ordered was incredible; we didn't even look inside the sandwich to see why ... we just ate it happily! The french fries we didn't care for as much. The brownie was great. The other bakery items were good but I probably wouldn't order them again; they seemed dry. The sandwich, brownie, overall quality, and staff were enough to entice me back. There were a lot more items I wanted to try. I suspect this place gets pretty crowded early in the morning and at lunch hour, as it is probably really a welcome place to many. Anything Cunningham is good. Give it a try!

I had been wanting to check out croute as soon as I heard it was opening. My husband and I have gone a couple times for coffee and pastry's. He got an apple fritter (not always in stock) and I got chocolate chip and sugar cookies. The cookies were so good that I decided to get them for my daughters birthday party and they were a huge hit! Our waitress at the birthday party who was a baker herself wanted to know where we got them. The service at Croûte is beyond amazing. The staff are super friendly and helpful! There is not really anywhere to sit, this place is more grab and go but it is totally worth it to grab and even sit and your car and enjoy the deliciousness that is their food and drink.

It's sad when a company spends a lot of money on a new facility and makes a great product--yet has bad customer service. The food and beverages are excellent, but be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes, even for just a cup of coffee. That's not to say the ONE server isn't trying to handle the orders quickly, ONE AT A TIME. The modern era's socialist customer service doctrine says you must wait your turn without any attempt being made to process orders efficiently. Indeed, suggesting a review of alternatives launched a wave of indignation from the server, who scolded me sternly while invoking her 17 years of experience. But does doing things inefficiently for 17 years means there's no better way? I offer my consulting services if desired. However, I'm sure management will blow me off. So let's check back in a year and see how things are going. The world is littered with failed coffee and pastry shops that thought they knew better than their customers. P.S. Winter (and a big recession) is coming.

The food is solid and made with quality ingredients. You won't get any processed franken food here. I love the almond round thing that I cannot pronounce. The croissants are great and the pasta salad is really flavorful. The chicken salad and egg salad are just okay and, unfortunately, their regular salads have blue cheese which I don't eat. The selection is minimal. I do agree with the other reviewer that a menu would be helpful. The main downfall are the prices. $12 for a Cobb salad is a bit much. A small side of pasta salad is $4. The quality is spot on and the employees are incredibly friendly and seem to really enjoy their job. Overall, I enjoy the bakery. I work in the building so it is nice to have something I can run down to when I get hungry. I would recommend they offer a bit more variety and maybe drop the prices a bit. Considering they make almost everything homemade, their food cost shouldn't be high enough to justify the prices. A solid concept from Cunningham, one of the most innovative restaurant management groups in the area.

So far, so good! I went a week ago and got three pastries: berry and cream cheese danish; pistachio (something); croissant. I also got some coffee. My only wish was that they had a menu visible in order to make the ordering process more efficient at the counter. I look forward to going again!

Oh mama! So you can't jet off to Paris for lunch? No worries! These sandwiches and pastries will more than satisfy your cravings. Every treat is as lovingly and artfully created as only Indy's own Hattie McDaniel could. Just ask any of the staff to explain the day's offerings. Treat yo' self!
