This makes me sad. I love their food and the ambience is very warm. That is where it ends. This was the worst Valentine's Day dinner ever. 2 hours and five minutes from seating to paying the check and leaving. They had one sever for a full house and one person sort of helping with drinks. 25 minutes until anyone took our drink order. I witnessed customers walking out after being seated and waiting at least 20 mins for a glass of wine. I watched 2 parties the employees turned away at the door. They actually did those people a favor. The main theme of these reviews going back 12 months is wait staff turn over. The two ladies working the floor tonight will almost certainly quit soon. They must have been embarrassed beyond belief. I spoke to Effie (sp?) who I was told is the manager or owner. She appears to be the primary cook and at that she excels. She did not apologize for our experience and was clearly overwhelmed. Effie if your reading this, please hire 3-4 rock star wait staff and maybe another cook and pay them more than your competition. A few well paid, talented and motivated people helping you can save this restaurant. This place has been in business since 1986 and I am so disappointed they may not make it. We were so glad not to eat at a chain restaurant tonight and sadly we may never return. Please fix Hellas Cafe! Indianapolis needs you!

I used to eat in Greektown in Detroit. Excellent food, etc. Hoosiers don't know great Greek food from a milk-dud. This place is a l***** Why? Probably because it is not owned/run by true Greek restaurateurs. Hoosiers will eat and accept anything, which explains the mediocre dining in and around Indy. Avoid.

Having a lot of vegetarian options is such a plus plus! And the server was super sweet and offered perfect recommendations. Thanks for everything! Can't wait for next time

The owner is not professional and curses out her staff. She calls them stupid and has the people who are not qualified to be working on the line work on the line. Unsanitary conditions. A staff that is obviously very poorly taken care of and lacks training. The food takes an hour, even during slow days, to be delivered to the table. Hellas Cafe needs a new owner. She’s not qualified like her grandparents were and she doesn’t care about her guests and employees like her grandparents.

Atmosphere was beautiful. Very friendly staff. We went on a Friday evening and they had gentleman playing live piano, Christmas songs. I gave 4 stars because it did seem they were low on staff and the food wasn't very warm when we got it.

We love Hellas! Tuesday nights kids eat free and there is a lovely lady who does face painting and balloon creations! Wonderful experience every time.

The food was delicious and authentic Greek dishes were nicely plated and served. Prices were more than fair.... good portions for reasonable prices for lunch.We all enjoyed our lunches and plan to return soon to sample other platesThis is a real find for lovers of of real Greek cooking! We recommend Hellas Cafe highly!

I was the second customer customer in the door for lunch, I ordered a salad and hot tea. By the time I got my meal, 10 other people had come in and we're already eating and my bill was $21. Never again.

Incredibly poor service. Waited 20 minutes to get drink order, and aftet another 20 minute wait food wasn't being brought out. Had to leave without eating to make a concert on time. They had two large groups there and other couples were complaining about service also. The wait staff didn't seem concerned and were quite nonchalant about it. Too bad; we used to enjoy going there. Never again.
