Great food!!!!

The stew was average. Huge bowl of gravy with 2 chunks of meat and a few veggies. Nothing to write home about. I never got a refill on my soda or the bread. The main thing that really put me off on this place was how unclean and nasty the whole place seemed. Very run down overall. I would not visit here again.

Perfect place to get a delicious filling hearty meal for a a good price, and perfect place to get a warming meal on a cold day. Pork tenderloin and the hot minced pit are best!!!

John’s Stew is an unassuming little spot that instantly gives off a nostalgic vibe — from the vintage Coke machine to the classic furnishings, it feels like stepping back in time. The star of the show, of course, is their Famous Stew, which comes in mild, medium, or hot. I went for it, and it was absolutely phenomenal — rich, hearty, and full of flavor.

The service was just okay, nothing to write home about, but honestly, the stew more than made up for it. I’ll definitely be back — next time, I’ve got my eye on that giant pork tenderloin!

This place is meh. The stew honestly is nothing special. It lacks flavor besides just being spicy. It needed at least some more salt but the depth of flavor was lacking. The tenderloin was good! The prices are so very good for the amount of food you get. The place is kind of dirty and we did find a hair in the stew and then had a hair stuck to the piece of cheese on the tenderloin.

Owner has ran the place in the ground.
They once made the news, but the next News Article will read CLOSED... Very dirty, old grease,
has no consistency nor leadership. People have faith it's the same never will be
Better off going to the mousetrap for the sameeal but great owners.

The stew over smashed potatoes is quite good. The blackberry cobbler is also yum yum in the tum tum.

I've seen this place for years. Decided to try it because I wanted a giant pork tenderloin sandwich. It was the best one I've ever had all over Indiana. I was HUGE even as Hoosier tenderloins go. Served In a pizza box! Definitely going back soon

Great people! Great food!

First off the Stew is amazing, reminds me so much of my dad's stew I had growing up. I personally like the Hot version. You can't go wrong with any dish here, the cabbage roll is off the hook, the tenderloin is huge, crispy, meaty, and delicious. Try the tenderloin supreme! You get the stew on top of the tenderloin, best for both worlds!!!

Do not recommend, they made my food wrong. No apology. Terrible service, had to wave down waitress to get her attention. Forgot the fries, had to wait a long time for them. Portions are huge.
