Buckle in for a crazy ride, folks:
I booked a room at Maru for 8 people at $55/hr. Albeit, I admit 11 ended up coming and I would’ve been totally fine with the $10 fee for additional people. After paying, we discovered they had charged a WHOPPING $120/hr (more than DOUBLE). When confronted, the front desk guy lied about showing me two rooms and that I requested the room for 15-18 people. That NEVER HAPPENED and I have 3 witnesses AND the security camera caught that. He even tried to threaten showing me the security footage 😭like, please, prove me right actually.
Also, my friend told me that the guy was insulting me the whole time when I wasn’t talking to him on the phone, clearly because I was not there in person (he also just hung up on me during the discussion). Even during the refund process, when we were only trying to pay the real $55/hr rate, they STILL tried to haggle saying “fee this, fee that”. There are so many things I could’ve gotten upset about, but literally all I cared about was the promised upon rate. Was I mad about the limited discography? No. Was I mad about the undisclosed gratuity? No. I merely wanted what we were rightfully owed. Simple as that. Then, to still try to negotiate out of paying us back PLUS being heavily insulted PLUS trying to threaten me?!? What is happening?!?
Overall this was an exhausting experience during a time that was supposed to be one of celebration. This place operates DISHONESTLY and WITHOUT ANY RESPECT for customers.

automatic gratuity no sign no asking not authorized. basically got scammed, be careful here with the final tab. what we were told would cost $70 + tax ($35/hr) ended up being $90+ without tax because of unauthorized gratuity

I called a week in advance to book a room, and to ask for special accommodations for a birthday we were celebrating. All accommodations were happily granted. When we arrived the night of, they did not have my reservation on the books and could not accommodate our requests. Thankfully, they had a room available for us. Besides the administrative errors, the customer service was not good, and we had some weird moments with one staff member in particular, asserting themselves into our conversations when we wanted privacy with our friends, which is kindof the whole point of a private karaoke room. The rooms have seen better days, the sound system was lacking, and our room got really hot. They only turned the air on after we complained. Despite all of this, we managed to have a good time. For 3 hours, I was charged over $200, so I expected better. 1/10 I couldn't recommend.

My friends and I rented a room for an hour. We all got drinks and spent under 140$ for the 6 of us! We all wish we would have booked longer! It was just too fun singing songs that we liked together. If you have never been here I highly recommend a try. I know that we will be going back. I was also informed that the building was under new management and the person in charge was super nice and helpful.
The room was nice and clean and the vibes were great! I did not order food but if it is like the rest of the place I’d assume 5*

The owner of this karaoke bar, and her son, are extremely warm and welcoming! They made sure our entire group was taken care of throughout the entire night. They made sure to get us everything we needed, and really kept the room’s energy uplifted and fun! I loved their food and drink choices, and it was fun rocking out in the colorful wigs. 10/10 would go again
