We all moved out of Indiana, it return every year for some drinks at the Mass Ave pub.

In town for a conference, I stopped in here with a group of 8 for a quick bite to eat before heading to the gay bars down the street. We assumed its proximity to gay bars was an indicator of safety, understanding, and acceptance, but we were wrong.
Bartender was immediately unwelcoming to our group. He condescendingly asked for our IDs, though we’re all in our 30s (other patrons were being carded as well; it was the attitude we got and the joy he seemed to get from it that was unacceptable). “NONE of you are getting ANYTHING until I see everyone’s IDs.”
And don’t accidentally mix up the kitchen and poorly labeled bathroom doorways, or you’ll be ridiculed by staff and patrons alike.
Sure the food was good; they know how to drop frozen food into a fryer. Alert the presses.
After killing with kindness and treating the staff with respect, we finally got some “thank you”s and “have a good night”s, but I shouldn’t have to prove to you I’m a good human for you to treat me like one from the start.
This establishment is clearly not for outsiders, visitors, and anyone not straight and white.
