On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina - Castleton Mall

The food was great, came very fast and our waitress was very attentive. The prices are about average. I only took one star away from atmosphere because they seemed to have the heat set very low, to the point that my date and myself wound up wearing our jackets most of the time. Everything else was really good though.

The wait was only 20 min. and we really didn't mind. The server was very nice, but was responsible for half the guest in the dinning room. She didn't have any help running food or alcohol. While the food was really good, the portions were very small. From the time we sat down to the time we paid the check was an hour and a half.Management need to help their staff!

Positive: The chips were great.Negative: Pretty much everything else. Hard to mess up cheese enchiladas but my to go order was terrible. Rice wasn't included in my order. They doubled up on veggies instead. Which would have been great if the veggies were good. They weren't.

Tonight was ladies night out and they chose to go to on the border Mexican grill it started out to be a good time the food was good and the service was good then as the meal was winding down one of the ladies found a hair on her plate it was stuck to the plate under her food and she didn't see it till she was almost done with her meal of course she and everyone else lost their appetite. She asked the waitress if she could speak to the manager when the manager came out she immediately went on the defense and told her that all she was going to do was give her the rice and beans that she had left after finding the hair no deduction, no free dinner and then when the lady said she wasn't going to pay for it, the manager said she was going to call the police I was livid any other RESPECTABLE restaurant would have given the entire company a free meal for the inconvenience this was my first time going there and now it's the last one too if anyone out there is considering going to eat there don't do it you might get a surprise on your plate too. I love the thin, crispy chips. I love the spicy salsa. It would have been nice if they had a medium salsa for my wife, but this is all about me.We shared the Stacked Nacho appetizer and I was impressed that they would put a single layer of chips, top it with meats and cheese etc then put another layer of chips and more toppings and then do the same all over again. Most places appear to put a mound of chips on the plate and dump their toppings in one large thump.I’ll come back when I’m in the area.

The service was great. They were really nice and welcoming. The food was amazing too. I got the Texas Queso Fries and I absolutely loved it. Definitely recomend coming here for dinner sometime.

If I could give zero stars I would. Second time coming this year and same terrible experience. First the manager that seat us was rude. We received dirty silverware and there were no straws so they gave us styraphone cups. We had to ask the manager for chips and salsa then she starts complaining that she only has one waitress and the bartender that start today quit so she's short of help. "I'm not surprised because I wouldn't want to work for someone with a horrible attitude like hers." Our food was horrible. To top it off the manager takes payment on my credit card with the wrong receipt, when I addressed the situation she argued with me. I can see all transactions to my phone at the time of purchase and showed her but she continues to argue she didn't ring up the wrong receipt. The restaurant was empty so I should have taken that as a sign. I will never return here. The way the manager runs this location I wouldn't be surprised if it's not closed soon in the near future. To many authentic places in the city to go to with great food and happy staff.

Terrible experience. Waited 30 minutes for a margarita that I could see on the bar the whole time. Order was wrong on multiple items. Didn’t eat our meals, but they still wanted us to pay the bill. Will never return.

The worst customer service I've had with the restaurant. Sad to day I ordered online & still had to wait 30mins in store. For the ahift manager to not care about online orders /prepaid customer verse walk-ins. They clearly don't take orders over the phone either. Phone has been off the hook the entire wait( in store). Highly unprofessional!!

Stopped in for dinner while shopping at Castleton, place is run down, patio not open or set up, no hostess, and it was probably the worst service iv ever had.waited almost a half an hour on 2 tacos, rice and beans. It finally comes out and the plate is scorching hot which tells me its been sitting under the heat lamp forever. Food was mediocre. Server never asked if everything was ok, offered more drink, cleared any plates or even took the menu off the table to allow room to eat. Wont ever go back.

Our waiter was incompetent. Could not remember our orders, we had a party of 10. Waited 45 minutes for our tickets and he messed those up 3+ times. Great food just do not recommend due to the servers.

We are from out of town but go to On the Border frequently in other cities. Stopped by this location on a Saturday night around 5:30. Before the typical weekend night dinner rush. We were concerned when we walked up that it was closed . Only a few cars in the side lot we parked in and they could have been for the restaurant next door. The place also looked VERY run down. Landscaping and door and trim paint flaking. We saw some movement inside and went on it . We had entered from the side , the bar area and there were about 3 tables seated. We went to the hostess stand where it would be 45min to an hour for our party of 3. There was about 6-7 tables seated, only about every 4th table or so . There were three parties of 4 to 5 each waiting . We considered giving our name and waiting . The lady in the booth around the corner close to the hostess stand leaned out and mouthed ... don't wait , we had to wait a long time for food and a seat and it was NOT worth it. So we headed out. I realize so many places are suffering from lack of staff but I had to warn people with our limited experience .

The food here has that "I don't know what it is" quality. Amazing chips and salsa, every ingredient in what I had was exceptional. The staff needs some love, so visit because this establishment deserves to stay in business!

If you’re looking for some really good tasty margaritas, you gotta come here. I’ve tried different margaritas from many different Mexican restaurants in the area and this one is hands down the best of the bunch. The melon margarita taste so smooth and sweet, you get yourself 2 to make sure ??. I really like this restaurant, the atmosphere, music, and the food is worth the price in my opinion. Dope place, give it a shot ?

Used to be good. Food is terrible now. Cold and old. Past couple times I've ordered carry out I've just thrown my meal in the trash. Tried dining in and it's the same thing. Sad when taco bell has better food.
