Update: the owner of the bakery replied to my review and put a phone number. He talked nicely and refunded us. They are a great example of a good customer service. The owner said they will make sure it will never happen again.

Original review: Bought some pumpkin chocolate chip muffin from this bakery and look what we found inside the muffin: A piece of plastic! The plastic is baked inside it… horrible experience

Little family bakery, skills and dedication to perfection ! Reasonably priced , fresh offerings.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade and still maintain they have the best croissants I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic. It was upsetting to hear that the original owner passed away, but his bakery is in great hands. The new menu items have all been SO good. The cinnamon rolls are a new favorite. Thanks for all the tasty treats over the years!

Friendly people, but honestly, their croissants deserve a 4.9 out of 10.
They were some of the greasiest croissants I’ve ever had. The plain croissant was both salty and oily—I could literally leave fingerprints on it just by touching it. The vanilla one had a thick, hard layer that made it unpleasant to eat, and the chocolate one was just as oily as the others. I tried all their croissants, and unfortunately, they were all overly greasy.

Absolutely delicious! The almond croissants are such a treat and make a great host gift. The new owners have done a wonderful job caring on this indianapolis gem..

After trying so many bakeries in the city I'm convinced that this placed has the best cinnamon roll in the entire city. Highly recommend

Smell even before you get in, is amazing! My wife and I got the ham and Swiss croissant, an almond croissant, and a blueberry muffin. Waited just a couple of minutes and was in and out quickly

The most recent time I went to Rene’s they barely had any pastries available and we arrived just a couple hours after opening. The croissants were decent but not my favorite as they were slightly too buttery. The service is always great though, which is part of the reason I continue to visit when I’m in town. They have a couple of tables outside, but the space inside is super tiny and only designed to order, pickup, and leave.

The owner made 2 custom birthday cakes (Ni Hao Kai-Lan and Dragon Ball Z) for us in the past. I can still taste them when I think about it. Taste and appearance was just perfection. When in the area we always would stop in for the sweet treats, macaroons and cakes. We will be in soon to continue to support.

Very small bakery, but had the best almond croissant roll I've ever had! Hope they are able to reopen at some point.

I want to share my personal experience so people know what to expect. And I hope the communication improves. I had placed an order for wedding cakes back in January 2024. Asked for a quote and confirmation. One month had passed still no email. Then I send another email another month passed and still nothing. I call and asked they said I would get a response back well I was promised the next day but unfortunately that didn't happen. Finally after 4 months (we are in the month of May) of not getting a response I called yet again we were advised to come in person. So my parents and I came in. We were ignored and and never acknowledge about my wedding cakes. No one seemed to willing to get an answer or help us. And unfortunately the owner didn't step in even though I had called and emailed multiple times. Then in July they announced they were closing because of the owners health issues even I had a wedding cake in a few of months away. There was no communication no email, no call nothing I only found out because I saw a social media post. Which is very disappointing. I sent a message reaching out about my wedding cake and they promised they would do it. Well weeks later I get a message saying they can't even though I was told and promised they could. I requested they had talk to the daughter since she promised me they will take care of me.. Well then I started getting pictures of the owner in the hospital which should never happen. I decided to cancel my order. I couldn't take the headache and stress since I never got a response back in the first place. Never got an apology nothing. I hope the communication improves with the new ownership because this whole experience was so unprofessional, rude and stressful. And I do hope the best for the owner and I hope he can beat the odds with the sickness. And his products are amazing. Love all the sweet treats and this is the best bakery just a shame the communication fell flat.
