Root & Bone - Indianapolis

We had a fantastic experience at Root & Bone! The moment we walked in we were greeted warmly and promptly taken to our seats as we had a reservation. Michael was our server and was awesome! He offered great suggestions on the menu, answered all questions and went along with all our jokes. The food was all amazing! From the moist biscuits, amazing cornbread and spread, to the "fall of the bone" ribs, and fantastic meatloaf. Everyone enjoyed every bite of it all. And then we had the banana crème brûlée and southern bourbon pie which was kind of like pecan pie, but better!! Atmosphere was great and service outstanding. One of the chefs even came out to speak with us! 5 star experience for sure!

Where do I start?! Everything was amazing! The drinks were great, the food was unique & flavorful and the service was outstanding! This is one of our top recommendations for Indy!

I had the special with jalapeño cornbread, pork belly, spinach, pickled onion , and an egg. The combination of flavors was amazing. I also had a side of grits and the chicken biscuits because they are my favorites. Hands down Root and Bone is my favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. Every time I eat there it feels like home, but with outstanding cooking and exceptional service.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Root & Bone and they were extremely welcoming and thoughtful. The service and food were tremendous. Just one taste and you see why the ribs and fried chicken are their most popular entrees. My only complaints were the loud environment and somewhat close table proximity. Also, their A/C must have been broken so it was rather warm inside. These didn't diminish the great things about this place. We'll be back!

Everything from the kitchen was great. Delicious food and kind food runners. The server was either too busy or just didn't care to spend much time with us. I'd come back for the food but need to bring lower expectations for the service

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Root and Bone. The food was fantastic. My husband and I shared the cornbread, chicken biscuits, ribs, and Kentucky bourbon pecan pie. Everything was excellent - we both agreed that the cornbread was a show stopper. The ribs were falling off the bone and had excellent flavor. We also enjoyed the R&B Old Fashioned and the Peach Smash cocktails. Our server was attentive, had great recommendations, and timed our plates perfectly. One minor note is that the tables do feel pretty close together, but I also understand trying to fit as many patrons as possible. We definitely felt like we got our moneys worth and look forward to returning again soon.

This was our first dining experience at Root and Bone, but it definitely will not be our last. Our party of 4 started with the BLT small plate, which featured a delicious, perfectly cooked fried pickled green tomato topped with pimento cheese, a piece of pork belly, and a luscious tomato jam. We also tried Grandma Daisy's angel biscuits, which were substantial biscuits served with honey chicken jus, sea salt, and benne seeds to be added as desired. Entrees selected were the chicken and waffle (served with bourbon maple syrup and the most AMAZING hot honey/Tabasco sauce), the shrimp and grits (with fantastic tomato confit, andouille sausage and sinfully delicious beer jus), short rib “meatloaf” ( meat shredded, compressed into a rectangular shape and char grilled) which all at the table tasted and salivated over, and the cedar plank salmon served with the most tasty thyme and lemon rice casserole (which was surprising to both females at the table as to the amount of lemon, but was absolutely divine). A huge shout out goes to our server, Imani F who was knowledgeable, personable, and very good at explaining exactly what we were being presented with as she served us. First class all the way!

I love this place! Never had a disappointing meal or cocktail. Staff is consistently awesome. Their brunch is the best in the city.

Five stars – A truly exceptional birthday celebration! We finally had the chance to dine at Root & Bone for the very first time, and it was well worth the wait. I had been saving this visit for a special occasion—my partner Michael’s 65th birthday—and I’m so glad I did. Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish bursting with flavor and clearly crafted with care. Watching the kitchen through the open window was a joy in itself. You could see the pride and attention each chef put into their work, and every plate that came out looked like a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening, though, was the incredible service. Our server, Imani, was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable. She took time to understand our preferences, walked us through the menu in detail, and made thoughtful recommendations that hit the mark. Her presence tied everything together so gracefully and made us feel genuinely cared for. Michael was delighted from start to finish, and I could not have asked for a better way to mark this milestone. Root & Bone has officially become a new favorite, and we cannot wait to return. Thank you for such a memorable and joyful evening.

The service is excellent and the food is consistently good. We eat at this location frequently. We recommend it highly.

Service, food, and ambiance was great. Our server was very knowledgeable, we got to sit by the kitchen which was cool, and the ambiance was great! Would definitely return.
