We always get a Rebecca, half w/o sauerkraut or thousand island dressing. Today we got it to go. The cashier went over personally to tell the cook/preparer the instructions. She took it upon herself to put everything on the side. That is not how we ordered it. We drove almost an hour to get this. Not happy at all.

Awesome traditional deli with a 100 year history. The potato pancakes are amazing, as was the toasted rye rueben with saurkraut. Ask for the side of applesauce with your latkes!

Okay. I'll start with the atmosphere cafeteria style (open and inviting) walked in breads, bagels, cakes, pies, eclairs, creme horns, and cookies (big ones) got carryout. I got chicken salad on a fresh croissant ( it was a size of a softball) and a cannoli definitely will go back. Husband got a reuben on rye and ( was the size of a softball) cabbage roll (YUM) and key lime pie. The quality and quantity is the best part about Shapiro's, it's been awhile since I've found a establishment that cares. Hopefully see you soon!

Absolutely perfect for the true Deli connoisseur! A trip back to the golden age of East Coast Deli's. Had the Ruben, and could not have been more impressed.
Cafeteria style service encourages you not to skip dessert as you are tempted before you order your entree. Life is short so grab your chance, you will not be disappointed.
Massive quantity of high quality food. This place has it all!

Moving from the NJ/NY area many years ago it was a great surprise to find a deli like Shapiros in downtown Indianapolis.
Shapiros never disappoints in terms of quality and and quantity of their food.
The fresh made ingredients including their in-house breads and baked goods are very, very good.
On this visit we had the corned beef, Swiss cheese on rye bread and a broccoli salad and meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans.
The sandwich is huge, the meatloaf tasty and seasoned well.
Shapiros is still a great choice for lunch and dinner.

Very disappointed with Shapiro’s. The Reuben was okay, not horrible, not great and not worth the price. The macaroni and cheese was awful! Mine hardly had any cheese and the noodles were mush. Had to add lots of salt and pepper to give it any flavor. Prices are really high. We paid $39 for a Reuben, 2 Mac and cheese sides and 2 diet cokes. I have been craving Shapiro’s but will not be going back.

Shapiro’s is an old-fashioned cafeteria/deli with great food. I was able to get in line (although it wasn’t busy at the time) and get my order in without much trouble, and the staff seemed mostly friendly. My eyes were bigger than my stomach though, so I ended up getting more than I should have. I got a deviled egg, some matzo ball soup, and a chopped liver sandwich. It was all delicious, and the sandwich was especially rich and savory. It’s cool that places like this are still in operation. I’d definitely visit again.
